The Good

  • Limited Warranty
  • Energy Efficiency
  • Cost Transparency

Comprehensive Range of HVAC Products

Trane offers a diverse selection of HVAC products, including central air conditioners, furnaces, heat pumps, geothermal systems, and ductless mini-split units. This variety allows customers to choose the best fit for their home or business needs. Advanced features like smart thermostats and the Nexia Home Intelligence system provide enhanced control over heating and cooling, ensuring optimal energy efficiency.

High Performance and Energy Efficiency

Trane's HVAC systems are designed for long-lasting reliability and superior performance. Models like the Trane XV18 (18 SEER) and Trane XL18i (18.5 SEER) offer high energy efficiency, which can help lower utility bills over time. For those considering environmentally friendly options, Trane's geothermal systems and heat pumps are notable for their efficiency.

Flexible Warranty Options

Trane provides a comprehensive limited warranty ranging from 1 to 20 years, depending on the unit and registration within 60 days of installation. This warranty is transferable to a new homeowner, adding potential resale value to your property. The ability to transfer the warranty is a significant benefit for homeowners planning to sell their homes in the future.

Expert Installation and Certified Technicians

Trane's certified technicians, known as Trane Comfort Specialists, undergo rigorous training to ensure they meet the company’s high standards for installation and customer service. Proper installation by certified professionals helps maximize the lifespan and efficiency of Trane HVAC systems, making them a reliable choice for long-term use.

Transparent Cost Information for Trane Air Conditioners and Furnaces

Trane provides clear pricing information for its range of air conditioner and furnace models. For example, Trane air conditioner prices range from $3,267 to $10,000, depending on the model and SEER rating:

  • Trane XR14: $4,800 - $6,800 (14 to 16 SEER)
  • Trane XL16i: $6,000 - $8,400 (16.5 SEER)
  • Trane XR16: $6,000 - $8,000 (16 SEER)
  • Trane XR17: $6,000 - $8,400 (17 SEER)
  • Trane XV18: $6,300 - $8,750 (18 SEER)
  • Trane XL18i: $7,200 - $10,000 (18.5 SEER)

Trane furnace prices and heat pumps also range based on the model, size, and efficiency, with heat pump installation costs varying from $4,600 to $12,000. This transparency helps homeowners make informed decisions about their HVAC investment.

The Bad

  • Undisclosed Fees
  • Pricing Guide

Higher Initial Cost

Trane's HVAC systems are considered premium products, which generally come with higher upfront costs compared to some competitors. The Trane AC unit cost can be on the higher end, especially for models with advanced features or higher SEER ratings. While the long-term benefits of energy efficiency and durability may offset these costs, the initial investment could be a barrier for budget-conscious consumers.

Additional Cost for Full Warranty Coverage

While Trane offers a basic limited warranty, obtaining the full benefits requires customers to register their product within 60 days of installation. The warranty does not cover labor costs unless an extended warranty is purchased, which adds to the overall expense. Some homeowners may find these additional steps and costs to be inconvenient or restrictive.

Dependence on Certified Technicians

To maintain the warranty and ensure the system's optimal performance, Trane products must be installed and serviced by certified technicians. While this can guarantee quality, it might limit the homeowner's choice of service providers and could potentially lead to higher service costs compared to non-certified alternatives.

The Bottom Line

While Trane HVAC systems come with a higher initial investment, they offer excellent value through their reliable performance, energy efficiency, and strong warranty options. Understanding the Trane air conditioner prices, Trane furnace prices, and Trane AC unit cost can help you make an informed decision when considering a new HVAC system. For accurate pricing and to find the right model for your needs, consulting with a certified Trane dealer is recommended.

Do not buy Trane products! They do not honor warranty, equipment, or their 'certified techs!' They are not about equality and continue to try to screw over the consumer only caring about their profits not whats right and wrong! Stay away and buy a different brand! Nothing from Trane, Runtru, American Standard, or any equipment manufacturered by Trane or any Trane 'Brand' companies! Trane and their 'certified techs' are set up to rip the consumer off! They already have 1 class action law suite and are pushing towards another! Check their reviews from reputable sites like consumer affairs and BBB. HORRIBLE!!!

I recently purchased a house, and my HVAC system broke down but I discovered that there was a warranty that I was not made aware of. When I contacted Trane to inquire about the warranty, they informed me that the warranty had not been transferred to my name, and I would not be covered for any repairs or replacements. I unknowingly missed the 90-day transfer window as I did not work with a realtor and purchased the house through a leasing agency. Please be aware that the system is only 6 years old, and the warranty is for 10 years. According to Trane, the warranty reverted to a 5-year warranty because the transfer was not submitted in time. I was shocked and frustrated by this news, as I had no knowledge of the warranty when I purchased the house. Trane has forced me into a very difficult situation where I will have to pay thousands of dollars to repair or replace the system because of this loophole. Trane is taking advantage of me because at no point was, I made aware of the warranty although they knew my exact date of closing and that the home was under new ownership. I know this because they were able to pull up all those details when I called the warranty department. I am now faced with the difficult decision of having my wife and 3 young children in a cold house (downstairs) or paying to replace a second HVAC system in less than a year. Yes, I replaced my other system a few months ago but that system was 20 years old so had anticipated it going out of commission. I am extremely disappointed in the lack of transparency and communication from Trane as well as their lack of empathy. I would caution anyone considering using this company to be aware of their policies and make sure that all warranties are transferred properly when purchasing a home.

Our Trane system is still under warranty. I was told, the part needed to repair the system is no longer available (not sure how this is allowed), so I will need to buy a new system. I do not understand how the manufacturer can do this and not honor their warranty. I was also told by Trane Service that they are no longer offering concessions or unit swap outs for these units even though they are still covered by the manufacturer's warranty. Then I was told they will only offer a $600 per compressor discount on the replacement unit. The compressor is over $3k (and not available), forcing me to have a new unit installed for over 6K.

Super disappointed with Trane. I have always heard great things about Trane, but when I moved to my current home and experienced a blower motor failure, they would not warranty it. It is ridiculous that a blower motor that was made in 2017 has already died in 2023 when industry standards are 10-20 years. We contacted Trane to see what they could do and they denied any assistance. It also took them an entire week to get a new blower motor to us, so we went a full week without heat in sub-freezing weather. When we replace this unit, it will NOT be a Trane and I will make sure to advise others about my experience.

They leave a 3/4" hole large enough for a mouse to get into the wiring to build a nest, Then will not cover it when it costs $150 to repair. I expect a $4500 Central Air outside unit to be weather and pest free/ tight. Repair tech said this is a common occurrence with Trane and he does 4 or 5 of these a week. They need to fix the design flaw or cover the repair costs!!!!! Customer service was very condescending on the phone (after 4 weeks to get them to call me by bitching on their Facebook page repeatedly). They said it is an act of god if mice get in and chew wires. I think they should plug any holes to keep the mice out.

Trane will not honor their limited warranty since the previous owner did not properly register. On to of that they charge you $198 to transfer their warranty. If you say it has a 10 year limited warranty, it should not matter who owns it, you warranty your product!

I had a technician come out to give me an estimate on replacing my AC unit to cool my 1700 sq ft home. The quote was 2.5 times more than the quotes I received from two other companies. I did not replace it with a Trane unit.
