Prestige Series: Rheem's top-of-the-line models, known for their advanced features and high efficiency.

Classic Series: Mid-range units offering good performance and efficiency at a more affordable price.

Select Series: Entry-level units designed to provide reliable cooling without breaking the bank.

Rheem AC Costs

The cost of a Rheem air conditioner depends on several factors, including:

  • Series: Prestige models are generally more expensive than Classic or Select models.
  • Size: Larger units with higher cooling capacity tend to be more costly.
  • Features: Advanced features like two-stage cooling, variable-speed compressors, and smart home integration can increase the price.
  • Installation costs: Labor costs, permits, and additional services can significantly impact the overall cost.

While Rheem doesn't provide exact pricing on their website, you can expect prices to range from $1,200 to $5,500 without installation.

Top Features

The Bad

  • Installation and Repair Complexity
  • Contractor Dependency
  • Undisclosed Information
  • Customer Support

Installation and Repair Complexity

Rheem's cutting-edge technologies may translate to higher installation costs and more expensive repairs if something fails after the warranty expires. Due to the advanced nature of these technologies, specialized technicians may be required for installation and repairs, potentially limiting your options and increasing costs. Additionally, obtaining replacement parts for newer Rheem models might take longer due to less widespread availability.

Contractor Dependency

To ensure optimal performance and warranty coverage, you may need to work with Rheem-authorized contractors, which could limit your options in your local area. This can potentially lead to longer wait times for service or higher costs due to reduced competition. Additionally, working with non-authorized contractors might void your warranty, leaving you responsible for repair costs and potentially limiting your access to technical support and troubleshooting assistance from Rheem.

Undisclosed Information

Warranty information may be difficult to come by for customers who do not yet know which products they will be buying. Customers must first register their products online to discover warranty lengths. The Rheem warranty guide is supposed to show warranty information, but it is not currently available for download. Additionally, the website does not have information regarding any fees.

Customer Support

The website does not include a chat service for those who need quick information. Those who wish to learn more from a company representative must submit a formal request through the Rheem “Contact Form.” Since its website does not specify whether it runs customer support 24/7, consumers have no way of knowing how long it will be to receive answers to their questions.

The Bottom Line

Though the Rheem website is highly informative, it doesn’t present much information that customers are concerned with. Customers who want to know information about warranties aren’t able to download the warranty guide for additional information. Rheem has a big brand name, so one might expect to be able to have 24/7 customer support; however, currently, Rheem only provides customer with a contact form to be filled out. We cannot recommend that customers choose Rheem.

I have a 2 year old heat pump/water heater that has failed.I reached out to rheem & they informed me that since my family purchased the unit (my mother) and I now own the home that the warranty is voided!! It is amazing the extent this fly by night company go to not to stand behind their product. This great sounding warranty that entices families to spend the extra $$$ for a unit that is less efficient than other heaters in that price range is absolutely worthless.I personally purchase many of these products annually——and from this day forward I will never purchase anything associated with this brand or its subsidiaries period.I wish i could go back and return all of my previous purchases and use a quality product with real warranty that works as advertised instead ot dealing with this inferior company .Rheem should get into politics the way they lie and mislead the public.$3000 for a water heater that lasts 2 years?Thats alot of money for something heading to a landfill.Good job Rheem—Unfortunately it won’t be your expensive inferior product taking its place.

Just installed a Residential Rheem Water Heater in a Customer's house on a Thursday and by the weekend it was working. My Technician contacted Tech Support on Monday and we showed him a picture of what the Water Heater did to the Insulation inside(burned) and they sent us a Gas Valve on Tuesday. Customer has now been without Hot Water since the Weekend. Installed the new Gas Valve and it still would work. Technician contacted Tech Support AGAIN and now they are sending out another part and the Customer will be without Hot Water for another day... I contacted Tech Support and told them we just wanted a refund for this Water Heater and she kept telling me that they cant refund me any money because this Water Heater can be repaired...... At this point we dont care if it is repairable or not. The customer purchased a brand new Rheem Water Heater and it hasnt worked yet. Needless to say. We pulled that Rheem and installed a AO Smith Residential Water Heater and the Customer couldn't be happier.... I know I am! So I am not a fan of Rheem!

If I could give zero I would. Buyer beware, do not buy a water heater made by Rheem. Had problems with faulty control valve, it was still under warranty and replaced with another faulty control valve but this time I had to pay for labor. Now the warranty has ended, now the water tank leaks water from the pressure relief valve. I have to continue to call plumbers to fix this water heater. I will never purchase Nothing from rheem again. Now I'm going to have to get a new water heater only had this 3 or 4 yrs previous water heater lasted way longer was not a rheem.

Poor design of insulation inside of ac unit. The insulation inside of the ac unit became unglued and fell over the return area blocking air from returning from the house, burning up a motor. Repairmen said this happens a lot. It cost me $1000 to get it repaired.

I purchased AC/Heater unit in 2016 from Honest AC (which they are nonresponsive and caused me to get an extended warranty to cover it). Within the first few months, I had to have the AC unit repaired. Since then I have had the AC unit repaired three different times and again this past week which cost me $980! Freon leaks, too much pressure, replaced compressor, replaced the land capacitor, TXV system replaced. This is unacceptable. The unit is less than 5 years old and I've had nothing but issues with it.

My brand new Rheem water heater “rusted out” after 3 years. Labor to fix is $720 and Rheem won’t make an exception to help with labor. Upset and angry over their faulty product!
