My last claim on my microwave was denied unfairly. It caught on fire and the wiring wasn't examined to see if it was worn. There was no extensive check to see what happened. The technician opened the door and said it was totally gone. I don't think the company asks the companies to examine the appliances thoroughly before they make a decision. This was the second call with the same issue of popping sound but the second time after the popping sound it caught on fire. The company made me feel like it was my fault. I immediately canceled my service with HWA.

Isas extremely unhappy with the claim placing process tha5 requires to talk to ai and gives absolutely no option to talk to a person. 8 was also unhappy that when th3 electrician identified multiple outlets and told me he was sure they would all be replaced, that 1st got a flat out denial, then an agreement to do 2, and when I appealed the decision , I spoke with someone who not only wasn‘ listening to what I said but took no responsibility just telling me „they“ denied it. She finally agreed to call the electrician and ge5t back to Me but I never heard back until the electrician came out to repair the 2 outlets. He said that h3 was surprised a5 the denial.

Takes along time to solve client claims. Once the pro is assigned the company does not follow up with the client to make sure the issue is resolved within the desirable time frame.

Tho have had them since we bought our home 10 years ago and for the protection of the unexpected repairs. They were ok until the last 5 years. The customer service has went to shit. Bring back great service associates who are capable of making decisions and solving problems, not cheap labor to read a script :(z

We are expecting a check so we can buy a new stove. Our oven hasn’t worked in well over a month and we still have not received our check. We’ve been satisfied with HWA up until now. This has been going on much too long.

Complete disappointment. After 3 days got our own serviceman and they refused to listen to his rec . Did not cover what was recommended . Hard to find a company as they all claim this is what happens- went a month in 90 degree heat. Also had an emergency water leak and had to get fixed would not pay the cheap 200 becaose not pre approved and when we were told we were 15,000 gallons over we did not have time to play around. I plan on cancelling rest of warranty and expect a refund. I would not recommend this to anyone.

I had a great experience with the service! Communication was excellent, and they were reliable. When my air conditioning broke, the technician who inspected it came the same day, unlike my previous experience with Home Warranty, which would have taken much longer. I did have a minor issue with a microwave light bulb, but overall, I’m satisfied with the responsiveness and service quality.

Not impressed. The warranty came with the purchase of the home. I won’t be renewing as they don’t have enough contractors to fix things

I had mixed experiences with the service. While communication was good, scheduling took longer than expected for some repairs. However, when my air conditioning broke, I was able to quickly reach the previous inspector who came the same day. I appreciate that quick response, especially compared to the longer wait with the warranty service.

I've faced ongoing issues with my garbage disposal, which keeps locking up. Despite paying for a home warranty, my requests for a replacement have been denied repeatedly, and I'm frustrated with the lack of resolution. I've also had trouble with my AC warranty claims. I'm tired of paying for technicians who can't fix anything. I'm selling my home and handing over this warranty to the new owners, hoping they have better luck.

I had a frustrating experience with Choice Home Warranty. Despite being polite on the phone, I felt misled about my warranty covering broken items. I still don't have a stove and had to buy one myself. The air conditioning issue took over a month to resolve, with repeated attempts to fix it failing. Overall, the service was a nightmare, and I felt like they avoided paying for necessary repairs.

I've had Home Warranty of America for years, and this is the first issue I've faced. While they initially responded well, I've been disappointed with the slow follow-up. My oven has been problematic, and despite multiple visits, the repair hasn't been successful. Communication could improve, as I've had to reach out several times for updates. I had a frustrating experience with my home warranty service. While the initial faucet repair went smoothly, my water heater issue was mishandled by the plumber, leading to incorrect reporting and ongoing problems. Despite paying for the warranty, I ended up with unexpected costs and no resolution for my water heater. I wouldn’t recommend this service based on my experience.

Well ever since the technician came I’m still waiting for the work to be done. Very, Very, Very disillusioned about the situation, very disappointed about the lackadaisical response from HWA. Very discouraged that despite it’s the season of Winter HWA would show little interest in the restoration of the only hot water heater in our home. What a company!

We’ve been HWA customers for 11 years. The customer service has declined more each year. It is now automated, no live human to talk to when placing a claim. When we did need a major appliance replacement (dishwasher) it took 3 weeks before we had the new dishwasher installed. Some of the technicians have been questionably qualified. I’ve read their customer reviews and am baffled by why HWA would contract with them. It often takes several days before a tech can come out then there’s sometimes a delay in waiting for parts to be ordered and a return trip a week later. On the whole, HWA has repaired and covered what the contract says they will cover. They are just expensive and frustrating to deal with.

Better than most other warranty companies I’ve tried but still super difficult. They never want to payout or replace anything even when it’s a 17 year old refrigerator with multiple bad parts. Left me in limbo after two claims that someone came out and said the compressor was bad but guess that was too expensive so they did nothing at all. The third time I paid my fee to send someone, they finally worked with us after the tech reported three different parts that aren’t even available for purchase anywhere anymore. Still took weeks to authorize to pay me $900 hahaha. So I can now afford a portable fridge to replace my stainless steel, French door in the main kitchen but not a single fridge of standard size and spec would come close to that price. Oh, a month later and my check for $900 still hasn’t shown up. Roughly 15 hours of phone time and face to face with techs is required of a home owner for every claim. Good luck!

Your customer support that I spoke with yesterday was argumentative, failed to listen to the logic I was trying to present and did not resolve the issue. It was very recent and it just happened over the last week. I tried to use my warranty to repair or replace a hot water dispenser on my kitchen sink in a house I just bought, I have a warranty that came with the house, tried to use it to repair this appliance since it was not working. And the plumber that came to fix it said he needs to get approval from you folks, in order to move forward to make the repair. The next thing I heard was from Home Warranty saying "We're sorry, but your unit was installed improperly, and because it was installed improperly, we are not going to honor your claim." I called the plumber who was here and asked him if he told Home Warranty that this was improperly installed and he said, no, he didn't tell you folks that nor did he think it was improperly installed. I tried to present that argument to the customer service representative. He simply kept repeating the same response, which was that your experts determined from photographs that it was improperly installed and therefore would not honor the claim. I'm not likely to recommend you folks at all unless we can resolve this.

I gave two stars because it took the 3rd repair person to come to my home and tell me that he had to order the parts. When the two before him came out and said they had to call HWA to order the parts and send them to them 🤔. But anyway the 3rd repair person said that he would order the parts as soon as they approve 🤗. But i got a text message that said that they were replacing the refrigerator, and it would take 30 days 🤔, I mind you this was back in October 4th when I reported it to HWA and I'm still having to wait 30 more days and I am still waiting for the e-card for Lowe's to purchase the replacement of my refrigerator and it's Thanksgiving next week 🤔

First, I’d like to say, I’ve had home warranties for 25 years now and HWA was the best one and ChoiceHome Warranty was by far the worst. What I didn’t know is that Choice has bought HWA. Over the years I’ve needed several repairs and a couple of replacements. The only time I’ve ever been denied is when I had Choice. I’ve never had any problems with the other companies including a furnace replacement in a previous home. So, this time when my furnace needed to be replaced it took 5 weeks to the day from when I filed the initial claim til the day the new furnace was installed. This time frame is completely unacceptable. I live on the Illinois/Wisconsin border and it was October, so it was just “uncomfortable “, but what if it were December? We wouldn’t have been able to stay in the home and probably would have had many other problems, like frozen pipes etc. Even with the approval to replace it, it still cost me $1334 out of pocket for “non covetable costs”. I still think a home warranty is a good idea, but now that I know Choice owns HWA, I will be moving on to a different company. Choice is all about their bottom line not customer service. Denied claims and delays like the one we had as well as the things the require of the contractors before the will cover a claim are ridiculous.

I put in a claim needing a plumber two days passed and I never got a call from somebody confirming they picked up the claim. I was offered the ability to hire my own plumber and I'd be reimbursed for the service. So I hired my own plumber he got me fixed up I paid and submitted the information needed to be reimbursed. But there was no reimbursement. I was told the way the plumber worded his report he left out that he snaked the cleanout which ultimately cleared the clog and only put that he snaked the vent. With that being the only thing he put home warranty wouldn't cover the claim. I guess I should've kept waiting for somebody to pick up the claim through home warranty. But who knows how long that would've been.

It's been challenging to say the least bit. I just had to used my warranty beginning of this week. I feel like every time I have to explain to them what is needed a lot of the times they don't even understand what I'm saying, and I would safely assume it is because customer service is outsourced elsewhere just based on their overall level of understanding in English, which has caused a lot of confusion so they would file a claim. And then once the company is assigned, of who needs to come and assist a lot of times the information they're provided it's not exactly the information that I've requested. They all need to be on the same page and same level of knowledge because many times that's happened where one person says something is covered and claim is filed they go by and we get to find out that it's not something that's covered. So that's disappointing and frustrating at the same time.

They answer the calls, but they don't always know what they're talking about, basically. The ice maker was broken on my Samsung refrigerator and I called them. They made an appointment, had a specialist come out, and charged me a $75 fee. And then the specialist tried ordering the part. They denied the claim, saying that it was in warranty when the unit was not under warranty because I guess Samsung had a recall on the ice makers. But the customer service Rep when I made the appointment didn't know what they were talking about so they made the appointment anyway. And then I ended up having to pay the service fee for no reason. They don't take care of you. If anything's broken, they don't come out and fix it. They'll send someone and then they don't cover the repairs. It happened with my dishwasher as well.

Not happy. I haven't made a claim in many years, pay for the highest coverage (most expensive) and although I was told when I signed up that if something had to be replaced, HWA would replace with the same brand and the closest available model, that's Not True. AND you have to accept HWA’s terms (ie, any brand, type) for replacement BEFORE knowing what model and brand of appliance HWA will replace with! Moreover, when coverage includes HWA paying for labor to install the appliance, don’t count on it, as that's not really covered either in many instances. If installation takes any new flex lines or whatever because HWA didn't replace the item with the same brand or model, you have to pay not only the materials but also installation labor because that’s considered ‘modifications’ for the installation even tho’ if they’d ordered the same brand, most of the ‘modifications’ wouldn’t be necessary. Further, you cannot change plumbing or electrical company HWA has chosen for the installation, even if they are charging 3-4 times the amount other companies charge for the same ‘modifications'. The plumbers HWA chose to install the appliance are asking for almost the full price of the appliance, well over $1000 over what other companies would change. I've done my homework and this is not an exaggeration. And on top of that, the accolades which are below in this review I cannot erase, even though they don't fit the situation at all!!! That's under 'why or why not HWA is worth it'. I cannot change what's there already which is a positive statement.

Last year our HVAC system went out. There was a leak and they wanted to send up their own service technician. The waiting time was long on HWA's timeline versus if we could have gotten our own technician in there. It would have been expedited. And that's similar to what happened this past year with the hot water heater too. They wanted to get their own service technician in there, so there's a wait time for that and then by the time the service technician got in there, they then serviced, the contractor decided that they didn't want to do the job and so it put getting a new hot water heater out by like a month. The communication is not the greatest.

They automatically take the money out of my account every month. They have no problem getting their payments. However, if I'm paying you for a service and you do not have contractors that are going to be up to par with their professionalism and for their expertise, I do expect them to alleviate the issue and to be able to get someone that will. When I asked him this morning how would you guys be able to compensate me for being inconvenienced not only for my time but because I pay you guys monthly for this service, he said that they don't do compensation. So I had to escalate the call for to someone who then after I explained that for the third time, told me that they will waive a monthly fee for me for my inconvenience. So the fact the problem of the matter is, is that they really should have resolve this at like at first call type of thing instead of me having to escalate.

Since I have had HWA, I have filed 5 claims. They paid me $700 for a $2,000 oven, a top of the line microwave and a dishwasher. I still have the broken oven (I bought a toaster oven and put it on the kitchen counter. I bought a cheap microwave to replace the built-in one they refused to fix.) I had to buy a new dishwaher. They finally did fix the last claim I made, the furnace. I'm not happy with them, they say they can't fix things because they're too old. They just deny.

Any time that I complain about the people not showing up when they're supposed to, they fix the problem. I used it for plumbing. They came out, they took my money $75. They never called me back to fix the problem. Two weeks later, I waited to give them to be patient, I called Home Warranty, and they said "We are so sorry, we're gonna send somebody out and you're not going to have to pay the $75." And so they sent somebody out and they fixed it immediately. That's excellent.

I don’t think any of the warranty companies are worth the money. Every time I’ve had to use them it’s been a disappointment because they don’t really cover that much. If you do get e replacement it’s always a cheap brand and the company showing up has poor reviews. Remember you get what you pay for. Better off putting that money into a savings account to use when needed.

We have a toilet broken in our house right now it's been broken for about a month. We've been trying to get the company to come out to fix it. There is some discrepancy between what the home warranty wants to pay and what the company thinks they should pay. The company was supposed to come today. They didn't show up, so we still have a broken toilet. Last year we had a broken HVAC system. We had it temporarily recharged with Freon, so they wouldn't fix it until it broke again in exactly the same way this year. It was leaking Freon, so we got to pay twice.

I had to call several, and the only way I was able to talk to someone I could actually understand or who could answer my questions was to tell the foreign customer service representative that I wanted to report him and/or cancel my policy. Then, only the repair was done. The damage the unresolved problem caused is on me. Thanks for all the headaches. Hopefully, you will do better next time.

Recently had a kitchen faucet problem. It needed a hose replacement. Couldn't find the part. Paid $100 for the service call and another $100 to install a new faucet and another $180 for a new faucet. I thought if the part is unavailable then the insurance would install a new faucet at no extra cost. I believe all those costs were not necessary. What good is having insurance???

They could never find a company to come and work on my stuff here, especially plumbing. And I contacted some plumbers to ask why they don't deal with home warranty and they said it's because they could never get payment on time from Home Warranty of America. So I've had to pay out of my pocket for plumbers to come to my house when I had the home warranty. I recommended them the first couple years to several people, but now I wouldn't do it anymore.
