Warranty plan holders can upgrade or expand their warranty plan within the first 30 days of coverage to add on additional systems or appliances.

First American also offers a 30-day review period for new warranty contract holders. Customizable plans are made for homeowners, real estate professionals, as well as network service providers. First American Home Warranty's website allows anyone to receive a sample contract and specific residential warranty pricing within minutes.

Coverage Limits

Unlike some home warranty providers, most of First American’s covered items do not carry a specific dollar limit. First American plans do not require a home inspection to be done by a contractor or maintenance records to be retrieved from a repair person for coverage. The service provider also offers extra protection for malfunctions due to lack of maintenance, regular wear and tear, rust, corrosion, and sedimentary build-up. There are no age limits on covered items, and no limit to the number of claims a customer can file.

No matter the time of day, customers can open a claim. First American offers a 24/7 service request hotline where you can make service calls at any time as well as a user-friendly online customer portal. First American has a nationwide network of workers and prescreens every service contractor and requires them to complete a probationary period to ensure customer satisfaction standards are met through customer survey results.

Fail a total fail. Called with a work order on plumbing June 3, They sent a plumber on July 29th. The plumber did not have the right tools and did not come back. It is now Aug 10. Well over 60 days and no service. This it the worst service and qualified for worst home warranty firm ever.

If I could give zero stars I would. We called to put a request in for for our new homes refrigerator and an agent actually answered the phone SINGING and was very very very obviously under the influence of alcohol/drugs. So extremely disrespectful!!!! And then when we did get "help" they said they wouldn't be able to come to our house until the end of the next week. So we had to go out and buy a brand new refrigerator because we have 3 kids and all of our food was completely ruined. Hands down absolute WORST customer service my husband and I have ever received.

We have had First American Home Warranty for over 8 years. Until now, I was happy. Currently our AC has been broke for 2 weeks. The contractor is blaming First American. First American has LIED to me repeatedly. They have told me the parts were ordered and expected delivery that day. Then 5 days later they tell me the same thing! This is unacceptable. My husband has a heart condition and we cannot keep going without AC in August!!! I can't get a manager to call me. Everyone i talk to has lied. I need help and don't know what to do!!!!

The WORST experience in my life! We've been trying to get our AC unit fixed since April without any luck. They started the process to order a part back in June and they haven't even been able to do that successfully. We were being proactive with our unit, we heard it making noise and having issues kicking on, but after all the time trying to get it fixed, it went out entirely mid-July. At over 90 degrees every day and having an infant, we could no longer wait. We had to buy a portable unit to get us through the weekend and then hired our own LEGIT contractor (the one sent to our house by First American will also be getting a poor review from us) and they were able to properly diagnose the issues, get parts ordered and repaired within 24 hours of us contacting them... meanwhile with First AM and their contractor, misdiagnosed the issue, ordered the wrong part, said they finally after 6 weeks ordered the correct part and still I've heard nothing. I was instructed by First AM to submit our out of pocket expenses to their claims review email, which I did on 7/20/2020 and NO response from anyone. I sent messages and attachments to their online customer portal, NO response. Are they even still in business? Worst, worst, worst experience I've EVER had dealing with anyone. I've filed a claim with the BBB, next I'll be filing something with the AG and since many real estate companies have their sellers purchase these types of policies for home buyers (which is what we had and then renewed for the second year, worst mistake I've ever made) I'll be contacting ALL of our real estate and brokerage companies in the area letting them know about this illegitimate business. NO one should have to go through what we've been going through and after reading reviews, I see far too many people already have. Do yourself a HUGE favor, whatever money you are planning to spend on a warranty company, just put it in savings in case something goes out. Otherwise you will be throwing money into a trash can because you're issue won't get solved quickly and they'll give you the cheapest crap they can find anyway.

After being in our home for 1 week, the hot water heater went out. I called set up a service call online. There was no one locally to service our needs and we went 4 days without hot water. There were multiple calls to the call center, 2 different businesses scheduled, and then conveniently overbooked and didn't bother to call us and tell us they were not coming. It was incredibly frustrating. Repair services do not want to spend 1 hour or more driving (one way) to Stephenville, TX when they can stay in the metroplex and make more money. Please secure local businesses to service the needs of your customers. I gave 2 stars because of the nicest call center representative that tried for almost an hour to locate an alternate provider after we had a no show. He could not locate anyone that was willing to show up soon.

It was the service man. I didn't like how he didn't allow me to explain. My dryer door wouldn't shut and he was just real short in and out 2 min. Horrible service

We dispatched an independent contractor, Accord Appliance Service, Inc who reported the clothes dryer door was broken not due to normal wear and tear. Please be advised, First American's liability is limited to repair or replace an item that fails due to normal wear and tear. We had them check out two appliances. They do everything they can to put a band aid on it so they don't have to replace it. In the end we bypassed them and made the purchase on our own. Our AC unit was going out. We had it looked at professionally ourselves and was told it needed replaced. The warranty had someone look at it and they said it needed replaced. The warranty had another person, a one man company, and said it needed cleaned. That's what they went with. Rather than pay $350 for a cleaning, another service fee for them to come look at it, and then another $500 for the warranty, we just purchased a new furnace ourselves. It wasn't worth the hassle to keep putting a band aid on it.
