I think Choice Home Warranty might be the biggest scam ever. While I have used them for small claims and had success, it’s the big claims that they find a way to weasel out of. I had a 10 year old furnace that was maintained meticulously each year by the company that installed it. The internal burners were defective yet out of warranty. CHW claimed that I did not maintain the unit properly despite providing them with all the written invoices over the 10+ years. On a condo I own, the 44 year old furnace needed replacing but the technician they sent could not work on the unit nor did he report back to CHW that they couldn’t work on it therefore CHW would not send another technician. After contacting the original tech multiple times, they failed to return my call. I assume that is what CHW has them do to keep from having to replace an expensive unit. Buyer beware!!!!

Our AC went out when the Phoenix area temp reached 120 and stayed there. Our 23 year old unit just could not handle it. Choice called out a tech to fix it and he called me to confirm. When he didn’t show, I called him and he said he never got any paperwork. Of course, I wondered how he got my number. Called choice. They sent K&K heating & cooling. Waited over for them to come. They looked at the unit and recommended replacement and sent pictures and report to choice every time they said they hadn’t gotten anything. Finally over a week went by this way and then they acknowledged they had it after I called and complained (multiple times). Then they were in review over a week. My husband got very sick and dehydrated - he’s 79 years old. I called multiple times to get approval for what I thought was replacement no, repair was all they would do. At one point said they were not an emergency service. While I waited, part of my attic collapsed (not covered by home warranty) because there was a leak in the attic. K&K refused to come until I said I would be looking for their replacement. Then they said they would come 3 days later. No Thanks. Found a very nice guy who came and fixed it in 10 minutes in Sunday morning. I gad been asking them for 4 days to please come. The result of choice dragging their feet created a $26,000.00 repair! Would not give me a buy out on the repair so I could get a competent company to to the ac repair. K&K was willing to put in a 5 ton unit since I wanted a new unit instead of 3 ton which my house needs. There’s even a warning on the electric company site to never do this! DO NOT RECOMMEND THEM.

The sakes person told me everything was covered except a 75 dollar service call fee. No true, as soon as I had a water heater issue basically almost nothing was covered. I did a sink faucet was covered but that was small not major. And my monthly payments basically covered it I decided to cancel my policy after 4 months, did not feel it was worth it.

I have had to file a claim for my garage door opener. It is an old Stanley screw drive, and it decided not to open one morning it just made an awful grinding noise. Choice home warranty sent out a tech and he said it needed to be replaced as it is old and the parts are not available. Choice said the actual door was damaged at first. The door is not damaged. then they said the opener was damaged because the door was frozen closed by the cold weather and that striped the part on the opener, and that is an act of nature, and it is not covered. then they offered me $150.00 for compensation so I could fix the door myself. The repair is around $450-$500 and the warranty is supposed to cover 80%. I would not recommend this company to anyone, shop around. Claim #:182964633

Likes: That our monthly membership premiums stayed at $37.50 for 5 years straight. In 2023 it increased for the first time. Dislikes: That CHW didn't repair or replace our wall oven from our claim in 2020. The cash settlement only covered about half the cost of a new wall oven. That CHW didn't accept our claim in 2018 for our defective fridge. We had to shell out about $688 for a new fridge, OUCH! Finally, I dislike how CHW keep sending me email advertisements to sign up for an account. Wish they would stop!

Steer clear. Choice home warranty is NOT a BBB business and is classified as "C" by the BBB-- FOR A REASON. I just completed my first claim for a microwave with a broken control panel. I had to pay a technician $65 to assess the problem. He was unprofessional-did not have a business card or receipt for services, pants below his underwear. The determination was the microwave needed to be replaced. I was offered $191 for the same microwave that retails for $449 at Lowe's and Best Buy. Payment was to be in the form of a Lowe's e-gift card, even though I have coverage at Best Buy that includes installation. So, I would pay $453 for the microwave (with tax) + 129 installation + 65 service fee, bringing the grand total to $647. That's an underpayment of $456. How is that at all appropriate for a microwave that just went out of warranty less than a year ago? Also, I opted for a cash payment which will take 30 days. Choice is a giant waste of money. Buyer beware

So far just signing up today and very deceiving. I got an email that said if you sign up in so many hours your service fees will only be $75. Signed up and now it comes through as $85. So I called and got told that is only if I pay the full yearly charge not if I pay monthly. This is deceiving and should just be said upfront however it is no where in the email I received. Off to not having a good feeling about this company Because of this.

I've had 2 Claims with Choice and the 1st one was Not Good. The Contractor they Sent Tore Up my Bathroom Floor Looking for a Leak he Never Found. It was 2 rooms over( Approximately 35 feet) from where the Leak was Dectected. The Worst so called Contractor in the Plumbing Business. I ened up Paying out of my Pocket for a Real Plumber coming to my House to Detect and fix the Problem. It took the Detection Guy about 1 1/2 hours to find the Leak and about 30 minutes to pinpoint the leak Exactly within 6 inches. It took the 1st Plumber over 5 hours not to find the Leak and $250.00 worth of Damage to my Batbroom Floor, And not Knowing he went under my sink in the Cabinet and Cut a Hole in my Wall. The 2nd was my Garage Door, In which the Contractor was over 170 miles away. Choice gave me a Date, but after Contacting the Contractor he gave me Another date, which meant I was going to be Without being able to Open my Door for over 10 Day's just to find the Problem, Not Fix it. I Called to Cancel the Job and Hired my Own Garage Door Contrator. This is my First time with Choice and I'm 0-2 with Claims. They Did offer me Another Contractor, But the time it takes to get one, then and Appointment, It was Beneficial for me to Hire my own Contractor with Quicker Results.

My jacuzzi tub didn't work properly, so I contacted CHW for service. They said since it was above ground, it wasn't covered. I read the contract to the CHW rep, and said it specifically covered Jacuzzi tubs. CHW arranged for a service call, however the pool service never showed up TWICE! They arranged for another company, Pinnacle pools to check the tub on January 3rd---over 2 weeks from my initial call on December 18th. Pinnacle pools found a bad pressure switch, and said they would have to order one. On January 4th, I got an email from CHW saying they wouldn't cover the switch was above ground. I have now been forced to start an appeal for a system that is covered in the plan! Horrible service from CHW!

I previously had American Home Shield and since switching to Choice, my premium increased WITHOUT notice as did my service call fee. I have had 2 claims denied and the worst customer service experience with a claims case manager Azfar A . It was clear within the first 60 seconds of the call, he had no interest in resolving my claim issue OR addressing the increase in my premium and service call fee. He stated that their company does not refer to information given on calls to their representatives, only what is entered in their online portal. I am escalating my concerns outside of Choice and will never refer this company to anyone else. I should have stayed with American Home Shield.

The website states the call center is available 24/7, this is inaccurate, "Our call center is also available 24/7/365." Upon attempting to contact CHW after business hours, there is an outgoing message detailing limited hours. Also, my home is need of a water heater replacement due to a leak and it's 23 years old. They market to have you scheduled with a technician within 4 hours and the service call within 24 to 48 hours. I entered the claim online and the following day I received emails stating they were sorry but they're having difficulty locating a technician in network and to consider the reimbursement option. I opted the reimbursement and CHW only wanted to reimburse an amount that would cover a water heater. Labor and fees to ensure the parts are up to code based on our state would not be covered.

Takes too long to get a technician out to diagnose the problem. It is easy for the technician to claim the problem was caused by misuse rather than normal wear and tear. If this is the case, they collect the deductible and move on. The customer then is out the deductible and still has to replace the appliance or get it repaired after being out the deductible amount.

I was informed by the rep I could only get back $1450.00 out of $2100. He informed me that was the max they could refund and the remainder $650 would cover 14 months or warranty.

I have been without AC in my home for almost a month now because this company keeps declining repairs and when you call them they give you the run around and tell you they will have someone else call you 4 days later due to there busy schedule which never happens. The technican that looked at my unit said the expansion valve is bad which lead to my coil freezing up causing a restriction in the duct work. No where did the techican say it was a restriction in expansion valve. Choice home said they declined due to dirt in the ac lone that restricted the expansion valve and that's not normal wear so not covered. Then they sent that to the landlord which is out of the country after I told them she's out of the country and they need to contact me. My landlord has made it clear to them that I am authorized on this account. Still trying to get them to get my unit repaired within the policy and they refuse and delay. Oh and I have told them I have an 82 year old in the house that this needs repaired asap.

When I signed up for this warranty, I was told that everything would be covered and life is just going to be great. Life has been anything but great with these folks. It takes them over a month sometime to get a service person to your house. Their customer service is sorely lacking. It is really just a matter of deception in lies. When you buy the warranty on the telephone, you connected to someone in the United States and everything feels good but then when you have a claim you’re relegated to some overseas call-center. I will never do business with this company again, and I will dissuade anyone that I know from doing business with them as well.

First year I was with home choice warranty I put in three claims one was for a block, drain the other dealt with an oven problem. Both of those problems were taken care of and the people. Who service them were good the third problem. My head was with a water heater. I looked up the company that was coming and they had a one star rating and not one good recommendation. I called Choice HWho service them we’re good the third problem. My head was with a water heater. I looked up the company that was coming and they had a one star rating and not one good recommendation. I called Choice Home warranty and asked if I could have a different. Company they said no so the company they sent came out they charge me $100 to take the old water heater out the $65 co-pay and $$350 for a valve they had me over a barrel. I needed the hot water heater so in all it cost me $515 to get my water heater in. I was looking for another company and I got a call from Choice Home warranty and I renewed my contract I used them again. I had a problem with my refrigerator with the icemaker. Everything was taken care of the technician and everything was covered for my co-pay as it was supposed to be then I called because I had a hose bib in the garage go on me and one on the outside Spicket , they told me they would only cover the two in the garage at the outside, Spicket was not covered because it was outside of the house. Anyone who lives in a Northern community knows that a hose bib is part of having a. A Spicket that is attached to the foundation of the house has to have a hose bib or else it will freeze and you will have a pipe that is split or broken in the contract under plumbing. It specifically says hose bib. They denied my claim because they said that the contract says it does not cover anything outside the house. Well this is attached to the house. Why would you have a hose bib inside your house? You only use them for outside or in the garage and my claim was denied for the hose bib that is attached to the Spicket. That is attached to my foundation outside.

Customer for 10 years. Early claims were handled quickly. No claims the last 2 years. Water heater went out. Called in a claim. Took 5 days to get a Technician (family with no hot water. Showers, wash clothes, dishes etc.)to come and tell me it needs to be replaced. Too old to get parts. Choice then says I have to pay $609.00 for non covered cost and then they would order water heater. I asked for the $609.00 to be itemized- they could not do it. I asked to speak with a Manager. They said they cannot transfer calls. I asked for the home office number, they said they did not know it. All Service Reps have the same accent and say the exact same words( they are reading from a card). It is apparent they are offshore and if it not on their card they hang up on you. I asked to take the buy out option but was told no. After 2 weeks of my Family living with no hot water, I canceled Choice went to Home Depot and purchased a hot water heater and the the parts to install for $522.00 . I installed it in 1 hour and we have hot water. I have repeatedly asked to speak with Management, but could not get off the Island or wherever it is. Sick and tired of being lied to and given the run-around. If Management cares or gives a Hoot call me.

My husband is a cancer patient and the toilet backed up, I someone to arrive at least the next day. I immediately contracted a plumber to diagnose and make repairs after waiting one day and reimbursement is a nightmare. I was not aware that I had to have the diagnoses approved before the work was done because I did not receive the option for 3 days. Did I mention that you have to firmly request to speak with the resolution department in order to speak with someone that was not outsourced, who was not rude and could clearly speak or understand English? For some repairs and/or service, they come through but do not count on this company covering any big repairs or replacements. According to their policy, they cover water heaters but unless you look at the fine print, they won't cover the tank - which basically IS the water heater. FYI, my water heater was leaking and was not producing hot water. It was deemed unrepairable by the sub contractor/plumber they sent out. Similar thing happened a few years back with my HVAC unit on my roof. If they can repair it, they will but if it comes down to having to replace a item that's costly, they will turn their backs on you and leave you to dry.
