The Good

  • No Contracts or Activation Fees
  • No Activation Fees
  • 30-Day Return Policy on Equipment
  • Tons of Equipment and Monitoring Options
  • Financing Options

No Contracts or Activation Fees

The alarm company offers its services without any contracts or activation fees, which also means there is no penalty for cancelling its services at any time. Once the security system is installed, alarm monitoring is available for as low as $10 per month — burglar, flood, fire, and smoke alarm detection all included.

30-Day Return Policy on Equipment

Customers also have 30 days to return any unwanted equipment, as long as it's in the original packaging (customers are responsible for return shipping costs).

Tons of Equipment and Monitoring Options

Alarm Grid seems to offer a complete array of Honeywell security products, in addition to several 2GIG products. The website displays pages of equipment options, which means the company likely sells anything you want to secure or automate your home. Among Alarm Grid's home security inventory are the following system components:

  • Alarm Control Panel
  • Alarm Communications
  • Alarm Keypad
  • Security Camera
  • Door and Window Sensor
  • Motion Sensor
  • Glass Break Detector
  • Smoke and Heat Detector
  • Environmental Sensor
  • Alarm Siren and Strobe Light
  • Security Key Fob
  • Panic Button
  • Medical Alert Button
  • Wireless Receiver
  • Power Supplies
  • Home Automation

As yet, the DIY home security company does not provide its own doorbell camera/video doorbell modules; but this device can likely be added to the existing home security system.

Financing Options

And because buying products can quickly add up, Alarm Grid offers financing options for equipment purchases. Alarm Grid also offers a variety of monitoring packages for any budget, including a $15 per month self-monitoring plan that allows customers to have remote access to security features without being monitored by its Central Station.

The Bad

  • Central Station Is Not CSAA Certified
  • No Warranty Beyond Factory Guarantee

Central Station Is Not CSAA Certified

Though Criticom Monitoring provides services to more than 800,000 customers throughout the United States, it is not a CSAA Five Diamond certified station. This means the monitoring center has not satisfied CSAA's five points of excellence, including high levels of customer service, commitment to ongoing employee education, and commitment to raising industry standards.

No Warranty Beyond Factory Guarantee

Alarm Grid does not offer a warranty on top of the factory warranty for equipment, which usually lasts for one year. Many professionally installed security providers provide a lifetime warranty on products, while most DIY providers include at least three years of product warranty.
