The Bad

  • Website lacks transparency on some information
Bed, Bath, and Beyond does not offer the same transparency as some of their competitors on their website and some consumers may not be satisfied with some of their customer service policies. We found it difficult when reviewing Bed, Bath, and Beyond's website to find warranty information. Customers may need to contact customer service for warranty information regarding specific products.

The Bottom Line

Bed, Bath, and Beyond may not provide consumers with the same level of customer service and easy access to specific information as some of their competitors. While this may be a turn off to some consumers, Bed, Bath, and Beyond offers a large selection of products priced competitively that will appeal to those who prefer to a one stop shop for all of their home and furniture needs. Bed, Bath, and Beyond is a great resource for customers looking to purchase quality home and furniture products at great prices.

I bought a sofa in January at bed bath and beyond online, on sale, it came defective. I returned the item and they gave me a replacement order. The 2nd order got cancelled after a few weeks for no reason. Without a notice. After I called again, they gave another replacement order only to be cancelled again after 1 month waiting. Now they say it's because it's out of stock , although my previous 4 calls even the supervisor says they have plenty of stock on this item. My guess is I bought it on super sale, they don't want to fulfill my order so they just drag me on until I cancel this order so they can sell it at a higher price now. I will never buy from them again. What a waste of 3 months! Could have gotten another sofa , not to mention they kept my money for months. No wonder your physical stores went out of business.

If I could put negative stars rating, I would. I ordered a 5 piece bed set for $2950. I paid for the service to get the order unboxed so I could make sure everything was there and not damaged. When I called to get a status update on the order, I was told it hadn’t even left the warehouse and would get an email to let me know when it would be delivered. That same day I arrived home to boxes left in my driveway. So much for paying for the service. The king size bed came with no rails. We have been sleeping on the floor in our room for a week and half now. They still have not put it in the request to just send us some rails. The taller dresser has a big hole in the back and all the drawers are broken. It was clearly dropped. They still haven’t approved for us to get a new one. The dresser with the mirror has a broken drawer, they still haven’t sent us the parts to fix it. Customer service is horrible. All they tell me is to wait on an update and I have yet to receive any updates. Absolutely do not order anything from here they do not care. They will take your money with no care to how your furniture comes in as long as they are paid. After 3000$ spent I have broken dressers and am sleeping on the floor. To get any money they said you can keep it and we will give you 300$ back. What?! To get a full refund we must fully repackage all of the broken furniture and once it has reached their warehouse then we can get the money back after 5 business day. We paid for the service to get it unboxed so we also wouldn’t be lifting all of this furniture. We had to take it out and now repackage it and pay to repackage it. Shop somewhere else.

I ordered from Bed, Bath, and Beyond online for my first and last time. I ordered five sets of 84 inch curtains and received two sets of 84 inch curtains and three sets of 96 inch curtains. The receipt had five sets of 96 inch curtains which was inaccurate. After my fourth attempt of explaining it in writing, I was able to get someone in customer service to understand written English and give me an unsatisfactory response. I did send a picture of the 84 inch and 96 inch curtains hanging so they could understand by a visual. The response was that they no longer have the 84 inch curtains and I could return the curtains at my expense, receive an in store credit, and could spend the in store credit for the next 50 years. I clearly understand why Bed, Bath, and Beyond has filed for bankruptcy because they were unable to turn their business model around and it starts with service recovery which they failed with me. Not interested in a 50 year credit for a business in bankruptcy at my expense. Their answer to the problem that they created was was like their name, “Beyond” acceptable.

Very poor customer service at the Federal Way location (in Boise) tonight…Three employees (one was the manager) chatting in an aisle as I tried to find details of a $149.00 lidded garbage can on the box. No greeting. No offer to help. Wandered around the store to end up at the customer service checkout and asked questions. Every question was answered with “I don’t know” but at least she asked the (still) chatting group. I then Googled and got answers on my phone. Told the manager how disappointed I was in the service. I did not see another person in the store (at 5:30), so I’m not sure why the lack of help. He shrugged and said, “either we help too much, or help too little.” Glad to go next door and hear “Welcome to Fred Meyer” where I was asked and helped to find the same sized lidded garbage can for $89.00. Works for me to save $60.00! Sad…I used to love going into BB&B; would like to see them stay in business. There’d be hope for these businesses if their employees knew what good customer service looked like, but I suppose it’s easier to blame Amazon or Costco or whoever else. Sorry BB&B, next time I’ll skip that frustration.

Too many shady activities by this company to go over all they pulled in recent years.  They sold us a robotic vacuum that turned out to be used even though we bought a BRAND new one, for example.  Their most recent poor service had a woman (Ebony) checking why an item that I was confirmed was coming was not even shipped days after the online sale.  She said she would e-mail me back and follow through to get me an answer but never did.  I was misled when I called back again after not hearing back from Ebony.  Lorraine told me the item was out-of-stock. I researched and found it in California.  After I found it, I contacted Lorraine again, and I was told it WAS available in USA but as a Canadian I could not get it.  I bought it online at their Canadian site and it showed available when I did so. Worse yet, they were STEALING my funds.  They removed my giftcard funds to pay for the item and only because I called twice am I getting my money back.  They were keeping it.  They did NOT notify me the item is out-of-stock.  They put my funds back only when I said they will not get away with keeping my money when nothing was sent. When I complained to the corporate customer service manager Munraj, instead of helping me, he said future orders of mine will be cancelled.  He now is trying to cheat me by not giving me my Canadian giftcard value in $Canadian dollars.  He wants ME to suffer for exchange rate fluctuations. Gene (Eugene) C, the president, could not care less about their customers.  I wrote a heartfelt message to him, only to have it passed back to Munraj.  Poor management and they do not care about longtime customers.

If we could leave this item with no stars we absolutely would! Absolutely HORRIBLE experience! You can use the BB&B coupon but if the vendor doesn't ship you will get the run around and no resolution! A generic 'copy & paste' response is what will be provided! We ordered a TV stand (pretty two toned farmhouse sliding door stand) and waited to be provided a tracking number. Money was pulled and a few days before we were suppose to receive the item no tracking number was given. I contacted BB&B and was advised that I would receive item by 9/26. On the 26th I contacted BB&B again and was told that it would be delivered soon and they would contact the vendor. 5 days later and no tracking number! Per online customer service email my only option is to cancel the order or do a replacement order but would have to wait an additional shipping time. Online chat team disconnected our chat when I requested a manger. Oh, and the best part was.... I would receive a coupon for 20% off my next purchase!?! Do they not realize that that's the coupon that comes in the mail every month! Not to mention...that's a coupon I can find on retailmenot.com. Absolutely ridiculous to even offer that as a resolution to an issue. It is now 10/4 no item, no follow up emails, purchase still says its processing, funds have been pulled, and no resolution made! I had to contact the vendor directly and was told they bulk sell and ship to BB&B and have no control over how they disburse or charge for that item after. A manger advised that BB&B would be selling and shipping and it is out of their hands once they've sold it to BB&B. Don't spend your money on items online that will be shipped..not worth the hassle and stress!

NEVER purchase anything online from this company. I had to placed an order with someone on the phone because there is no place on their website to add my promotion code. They were able to place my order with my promo code, however I received an email from the purchase department 2 days later asking me to call them 1855-222-1797 - no one EVER picks up and their answering machine says they will call back within 24 hours (NEVER HAPPENED). NO ONE WORKS THERE. I was forced to call several times per day and still nothing. Then I was forced to call customer service and they can't do anything about it because it's not their department. I'm currently waiting on the phone to speak to someone who can do something, anything about my purchase. What a waste of my time. First of all, customer service rep can't do anything so I ask to speak to the manager. I get on the phone with Jennifer who places me on hold while she tries to call this processing/purchase department. OBVIOUSLY she can't a hold of anybody because NO ONE WORKS THERE! Jennifer cancels my order and gives me back the promo code with new expiry date so I can walk into one of their stores to purchase my order. Promo code never ends up in my email or on my account and so here I am again - WAITING ON THE PHONE WITH CUSTOMER SERVICE. Jennifer isn't picking up so I tell this new customer service rep to patch me through to any manager! ANYBODY WHO CAN HELP because their customer service reps are useless! If they can't send promo codes then why do they work there and what are they good for? So pathetic they can't even distribute promo codes that have expiration dates. Bed Bath and Beyond will be the next company to go like Sears and like Target in Canada - with this type of online service, they won't survive the digital age of shopping.

Two complaints: 1) We ordered a large mirror which was delivered without a "Fragile" sign on the box, and as a result, the mirror was shattered inside the box. 2) I have tried contacting Bed Bath Beyond multiple times. I have tried their 1800-GO-BEYOND number 7 times and each time, hung up after waiting more than 35 minutes (I waited at least 35 mins each time). I tried calling on the weekend, week day & during office hours. I couldn't get a hold of a representative. I also sent 3 emails to the customer service number and received automated responses that someone will get back to me within 12-24 hours. It's been 25 hours since my first email and I have received nothing. It is exasperating considering my purchase is a $350+ mirror. I am giving a 1 rating (instead of a 0) only because the package was delivered on time.

Worst customer service. Their website is a SCAM.. they make the prices look good and say they have them in stock when they don’t. Tried to order twice- both times the order was cancelled and both orders are still in pending for almost a week ($600+). I was told they will escalate this but still haven’t heard back from anyone. Every time you call them it’s a 2 hour wait. Never buying from them again! Worth paying a little more to a company that actually takes care of their customers.

I placed an online order two months ago and it NEVER shipped, tracked or delivered to me! I called customer service three times, last time it was over an hour on the phone, they tell me that they will process a refund and NEVER do! I have filed a claim with the better business bureau in hopes that I will finally be refunded! I will not be shopping at Bed Bath & Beyond ever again!!! Terrible Experience!

I ordered 2 Queen Mattresses on 9/5/2020 with a delivery on or before 9/15/2020, it’s not 10/9/2020 still no mattresses. I was on the phone with customer service with no resolution the mattresses are not out of stock or on back order, yet customer service refuses to do anything. I have children sleeping on the floor, they have missed delivery date by almost a month. I simple either want the mattresses or a full refund. Do not buy from Bed Bath & Beyond, there are a lot of other stores that sell the same products that actually care about their customers.

in-store is 4 star, ONLINE shopping zero star. Read consumeraffairs.com for numerous but same reasons why details. They fail to deliver, even after over a month or cancel the order - regardless they never tell you or when you call can tell you why. So if a gift, chose AMAZON, but NEVER here. Read Better Business Bureau and above address for details. Likely you will have to cancel your credit card and have a big fight on your hands and a new full-time day job if you shop online with them and NEVER NEVER get the delivery nor a reason why they say they canceled the order and could not ship

They require masks of customers but not the staff. Why is it we are told to wear a mask but no one knows how to use it? The mask covers the nose and mouth. Anything less is a waist of time and you are not protecting anyone from anything. This is including your staff. It looks silly and pathetic.

Ordered 3 items. A wallflower and scent being two of the items. The scent for the wallflower was never shipped with my items and the order was under $25 which is hardly worth my time because I calling was already such a hassle. Ridiculous. 3 items to package and check and they couldn't get it right.

I used to love Bed Bath & Beyond, but I placed an order online and do not like the color in person and its going to cost me $42 to return them back to the store. I won't risk ordering again.
