The Good

  • Plan Options
  • Rate Transparency
  • Plan Perks Available

Plan Options

GEHA offers three main health insurance plans and Medicare supplement insurance.

Its High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) is combined with a Health Savings Account (HSA) or Health Reimbursement Account (HRA). People who choose this plan option can set aside money to use to pay medical bills and other medical services approved by the IRS.

The HDHP Plan

  • out-of-pocket max: $5,000 or $10,000
  • deductible: $1,500 or $3,000
  • GEHA HSA/HRA contribution: $900 or $1,800

GEHA’s Standard Option Plan

  • higher premiums and lower copays than the HDHP
  • out-of-pocket max: $6500 or $13,000
  • deductible: $350 or $700

The High Option

  • best coverage for brand name prescription drugs
  • out-of-pocket max: $5000 or $10,000
  • deductible: $350 or $700

GEHA also provides Medigap insurance that helps cover expenses not covered by Original Medicare.

Premium Rate Transparency

Monthly premium rates for each GEHA health plan are available on its website on each plan's respective page. These rates can be adjusted by location, job-type, and number of people on the plan.

This transparency makes it easy to understand how much you'd be paying for each health plan wherever you live and whether you want an individual or family plan. Make sure the monthly premium fits into your budget because paying premiums consistently is how you keep your plan in force.

GEHA Plan Perks Available

Each of GEHA’s health plans come with the following discount opportunities:

  • Eyewear discounts
  • 30 percent to 60 percent hearing-aid discount through TruHearing
  • 20 percent off of home teeth whitening
  • Up to $250 in incentives for completing health screenings for qualified out-of-pocket expenses or health-related items at WellDeserved
  • $25 per month (plus taxes) for fitness center membership
  • Discounts on Life Alert medical alert services
  • Out-patient lab work is 100 percent covered
  • Discounted ultrasonic cariPRO electric toothbrush for $27.99 (plus shipping and handling)

With GEHA’s maternity program, expecting mothers can find educational resources about pregnancy and health and receive one of the specified Homelink breast pumps and two supplemental supply kits for free.

GEHA also offers weight loss support through an online Virtual Lifestyle Management (VLM) program. This program was created by medical professionals. Through this program, GEHA members are coached on nutrition and exercise. Only GEHA members with chronic conditions are eligible for participation.

GEHA offers another program Better Choices, Better Health (BCBH) to eligible members that provides support for managing chronic conditions.

Many insurers offer similar programs and benefits with their health plans, so GEHA is competitive for the industry with these perks.

The Bottom Line

GEHA is a great choice for current and retired federal employees. The insurance carrier's focus on affordability and quality make its health insurance plans competitive. It offers three health plan options and Medicare supplement insurance.

GEHA is very forthcoming about rates and coverage on its website. This transparency makes it easy to compare monthly premium payments and out-of-pocket medical expenses across GEHA's insurance policies.

Rates are also personalizable by job-type, location, and number of people on the plan from its website. The ease for receiving customized pricing makes GEHA's website a great tool for people shopping for an individual or family plan.

GEHA’s insurance policies also have excellent perks, like discounts on hearing aids, electric toothbrushes, gym membership, and more.

GEHA has been denying prescription coverage for drugs that they previously covered with no change in the cost, availability, or OTC or generic availability. They require a lengthy process for appeal, and are unclear about who is reviewing the claims. This places an undue burden on my physician and results in me not having needed medication for weeks or months. They also refused coverage of an MRI when an earlier test showed what appeared to be a brain tumor. GEHA staff has said that claims are denied if any code or statement from the doctor doesn’t match exactly with what they expect to see from a request. I also believe that they may be intentionally using the CVS Caremark system to limit availability of drugs that they cover since they are the only “in-network provider and have few pharmacies available (one in my state) and that is often out of stock for medications when other local pharmacies have it on hand. I was happy with GEHA for several years, but now plan to drop them as soon as open season begins!

GEHA's Unacceptable Customer Service is Delaying My Critical Surgery I am utterly appalled by the abysmal customer service I have experienced with GEHA. For over 6 hours today, I've been tirelessly attempting to resolve a simple issue: obtaining a copy of an OPM appeals decision granting me a necessary surgery. GEHA claims they sent this letter in April, but neither my surgeon nor I received it. This inexcusable delay has now left me with only two months to schedule and undergo this surgery before the approval expires. GEHA's inaction is not only frustrating but also jeopardizes my health and well-being. Despite my numerous attempts to escalate the issue, I am repeatedly routed back to the general customer service line, forced to explain my situation over and over again with no resolution in sight. Even after being briefly connected to a supposed leader named Kathy, I have yet to receive a promised call back. As a GEHA member, I expect a much higher standard of customer care, especially in matters as critical as this. GEHA's negligence and blatant disregard for my urgent medical needs are simply unacceptable. I strongly advise others to reconsider entrusting their health insurance needs to a company with such a callous approach to customer service.

My wife and I have been covered by GEHA for 16 years before retiring and 12 years since retiring. We tried two other FEHB plans the first two years in Federal government. Pros of GEHA: 1. Welcomed by all providers we have wanted. 2. Practically no paperwork. 3. Excellent benefits coverage 4. Reasonable premiums Cons: None.

I had a really good experience speaking with GEHA worker, Jerri. She was fantastic at helping me get to the bottom of my bill that went to collections. Which was never supposed to be there in the first place because GEHA took care of most of the bill. She was incredibly reassuring that I was not going to have to pay the amount the collections was trying to get me to pay. I was so relieved by her actually doing conference calls with the billing and collections agencies. She was honestly a rock star.

I have had GEHA insurance for numerous years and a few hiccups but never any big issues. If you read what you are covered for and what you are expected out of pocket there are no surprises. I also pay close attention to the EOBs and the Doctor bills….you would be surprised how many errors I have caught and how often the billing departments “corrected” the bill. I have always had wonderful experiences with their customer service and they have assisted me several times.

I've used GEHA since 1988. For many years, this was a good insurance company. Starting last year, they began misclassifying in-network providers as out-of-network, resulting in a 25% copay requirement instead of the correct 10%. They have been ineffective and unwilling to correct this, even though their customer service representatives acknowledge the mistakes. I will not sign up again for the next Open Season, and the Federal Government should audit GEHA's continued eligiblilty to be part of FEHB.

I have had GEHA for almost 10 years and 2024 is the last year I use them. They have progressively gotten worse and continue to deny coverages for both medical and dental that does not make sense. I have the highest most beneficial dental GEHA offers and they have done a great job of minimizing every payout they give, well below what is promised. Their fine print limits payouts of general items like cleanings and exams are less than one would spend at McDonald's. They won't cover oral cancer screening. It is my opinion that GEHA would rather you lose all your teeth than cover a $99 cleaning. They won't cover a $22 cancer screen. Liars and thieves. And I've called customer service three times and none of their staff sound like they are trained and none of them.could give me any answers.

Once was a five-star company, but with leadership changes, this company struggles with everything from employee turnover, constant customer service training beyond most industry thresholds, and, more recently, problems with access to your records. Also, you need access to customer service reps who know what they are discussing. Additionally, access to your complete claims records (this has been an ongoing data problem since January/February 2024). Additionally, their website used to be full of options, services, and educational materials but is now stripped with minimum reflection of what it once was. Sadly, they make it so difficult to communicate and get a rep on the phone that one must be a professional voice-mail-jungle navigator. I've been with them for 19 years and witnessed this once-great company's decline. Looking for options at the next Open Season.

I've had GEHA for years and up until 2021, the customer service was GREAT! Unfortunately (maybe due to staffing issues caused by the pandemic), the service this year has markedly deteriorated. It takes them many days to respond to a question sent via their website's "contact us" form. A phone call results in a long hold followed by talking to a customer service rep. who sounds half asleep! This requires repeating my inquiry several times to get the rep to understand my question. In fairness, I think their premium is very reasonable and (surprise! surprise!) they don't plan to raise it in 2022, which is a first! Primarily for that reason, I'm sticking with them and just hope I don't have to deal with their customer service.

Whatever you do, skip it. I have been waiting since February to get a check. Excuses, lies, etc. I would have done better not getting an insurance. By be aware. GEHA has vendors reviewing and ‘paying’ their claims. By the way, their alleged checks are the only ‘lost’ mail I ever had.

I have been with GEHA for about 18 years and have always had good coverage. But I found out that in order to get my prescriptions filled I will have no choice but to get them filled at CVS. I have one prescription that has always cost $150. Per month to fill , my pharmacy would use a $125. Coupon so my actual pit of pocket cost was $25. Per month. When I tried to pick the same prescription up a week ago it was going to cost me $290 . After a prescription is filled 3 times in 2023 I now have to pay 50% out of pocket. I will also have to fill my prescription through CVS pick up or use their mail order and fill 3 months at a time. This will be an outrageous cost for me. This will be with every prescription that my husband and I have. If I had known this change was coming I definitely would have switched to a different insurance. I don't understand how an insurance company has the right to tell you where you have to fill your prescriptions. This is just unbelievable.

I have been with GEHA for more than two decades. I noticed about half-way through covid (2020ish) that they must have outsourced or changed their customer service organization. Service clearly became secondary to saving money. I watched as certain prescriptions became unfunded and lots of questions about medical care (not prevalent the prior 20 years) started surfacing. (Maybe a tactic to run old people off?). Multiple instances of this. Example: I have a documented long-standing hearing loss and use hearing aids. I realized when it was time to renew my hearing aids (5 yrs old), GEHA doesn’t service my area (TruHearing) so I had multiple calls with them (all recorded and documented?) to get instructions on best approach. Followed all instructions, including paying full at POS and then doing required vouchers…only for them to deny the claim multiple times (even though I now have the best hearing aids ever at a cost almost 80% cheaper than TruHearing). To make matters worse, they’ve iterated multiple written letters back to me with issues that were obvious to them day 1; i.e. “we need a code” then “we need date of birth” then “we need diagnosis code”. They could have instructed me ONE time to handle. Clearly a wear down tactic. Worst yet; THEY REMOVE MY REQUEST FROM EOB LIST ON THE WEBSITE SO IT LOOKS LIKE I NEVER FILED CLAIM AND THEY NEVER DENIED IT (Twice). I can’t help but think it’s a numbers game now. I love the GEHA doctors and 90% of the service, but the back end has taken a change that simply is NOT sustainable. Here we come open season.

GEHA insurance is terrible. What they state in their brochure is NOT what they actually pay. If you notice all of their info states a percentage of what they pay then they asterisk it and at the bottom in tiny print state of tge "plan allowance". A rep there actually told me that the standard cost of a procedure was 1236 but that their plan allowance was 686, of which they only pay 50%. So they just reduce the amount they admittedly know it costs and pay a small percentage of it. Plus they state they can reduce the benefit again if it's not a "standard" treatment, which is ambiguously stated. It's poor representation, extremely misleading, and the cost of this insurance FAR exceeds any benefit they allow.

GEHA The worst Dental insurance EVER. Requested 4 crowns on teeth that had already had root canals. Procedure was reviewed by 3 dentists and 1 endodontist and all agreed this was a viable solution. Turned in a pre authorization and was denied appealed the decision and was denied. Reason for denial was "unfavorable prognosis" this given by a dentist 600 miles away who never even looked in my mouth. Was never given any options for anything that was favorable so I guess I was supposed to let the teeth fall out. Called FED benefits and OPM and was told that there was no avenue to make a complaint about the insurance companies decision it was final. Requested to drop the coverage and stop paying the premiums since I am not getting the advertised coverage. This was the "High" coverage which supposedly has no yearly limit. Then I attempted to drop the coverage since it was totally worthless and was told that I couldn't drop the coverage that I had to pay the premium for the rest of the year unless I went active duty milatary I'm 63 years old so that's not happening. Ended up going abroad to have the work done. How ironic is that a US government retiree spouse has to leave the US to get work done that your paying a premium to the US government for? Do not sign up for GEHA dental coverage just take the money and burn it as it will be a lot less frustration with the same results.

If GEHA's execution was as good as their plan brochure, I would be giving a rave review. The shoulder MRI that diagnosed a fracture was deemed medically unnecessary. Other claims were initially denied because medical offices were not familiar with GEHA procedures, and were later accepted, only after I acted as the go-between. GEHA administrators inappropriately (temporarily) disqualified me from an HSA because they didn't understand the HSA rules, specifically that preventive VA healthcare appointments do not disqualify an HDHP holder from an HSA. GEHA denied my HRA claim even though I had followed their instructions. They claimed that although my HRA rolled over, the funds were unusable, which of course, defeats the purpose of a rollover. Their healthcare advantage perks unexpectedly expired before the date that they were supposed to. In short, the pros/cons of a plan brochure are only valid if the health insurance company has good employee training and execution.

0 stars for this scam. This is the WORST medical/ dental insurance I've ever had or dealt with and I worked for insurance companies and billing and collections for providers for several years. They intentionally deny claims without legitimate reasons. That's not completely unheard of for insurance companies, but when you call them out on it and jump through all the hoops they tell you to jump through, they still deny. Their staff gives you different answers every time you call. They try to deny things that were said on recorded phone calls. They try to deny they received documents that they already emailed to confirm they received. They have even changed dates of when they have sent documents to me and when I've sent to them to claim things fell out of a timeline to cover. I've never seen a company blatantly lie about things to get out of paying what they owe. I've had this insurance for a year and only had 1 cleaning done that turned into a deep clean due to periodontal disease and this insurance still hasn't paid for it. That's the only thing I've had done in a year. Save your money and your sanity and don't use this so called insurance.

I feel completely bamboozled by this company. My first hint should have been the way it was impossible to get into the website just a few weeks before open season. I'd changed my password just a few months before, so I knew it was accurate but I went through their "Change Password" procedure countless times - always receiving a notice of my request by email, but when I clicked the link offered, nothing happened. Finally I called and was told that they had completely changed their login system - to get in, one had to call customer service to have the password changed over the phone. For some reason, they couldn't put this information on the website. Oh wait - I know the reason. They wanted to limit my ability to learn about the plan I was paying for. They sure did have some slick marketing materials selling their 2023 plans, though. The high deductible plan description was the slickest, promising more flexibility and savings. My employer sent around several emails for a webinar about the savings one could find with HDHPs. With the last-minute notice (literally day of) I didn't have time to attend, but the sales pitch about savings stayed in my head. When I looked at the OPM plan compare tool, it sure did look like I would save money - because the tool failed to mention that the 5% copay and other costs would only kick in AFTER the $3K deductible had been paid. I'm the idiot for not knowing about this hat trick, but for all my research there was *nothing* about it in any of their mailers or on their website. No one would agree to the terms if they knew what they were. I went back and looked at the emails I'd received at work and saw that the informational webinars were hosted by GEHA. Now, after more than a decade of giving a portion of my paycheck to this "not-for-profit" (ha!) insurance provider, I find that I cannot trust them and suggest that all others look elsewhere for coverage. Worse, the HSABank, the company that manages the "pass through" dollars for the HSA that supposedly offers flexibility, is still showing $0.01 a month after my benefits were supposed to have started. I wish I'd known about HSABank before I believed the BS about "savings" because the online reviews would have told me that I'm about to lose some, most, or all of they money that GEHA is supposedly putting into the account. That sounds believable because no call I've made to them has been answered.

GEHA is a horrible health insurance provider! In short, they would not approve an order from my PCP for lidocaine patches to treat my chronic back pain. Apparently, they will only approve that drug for patient's with neuropathic (nerve) pain from cancer, diabetes, and shingles. The FDA has approved this medication for the treatment of nerve pain-very broad uses. However, according to GEHA, only three sources of nerve pain are covered. That must save them a ton of money and unfortunately, that is all GEHA is concerned about, not your healthcare. They are an absolute disgrace, especially considering that they only cover veteran and government employees! Well, lets face it. They don't cover crap. At a time when the US is moving away from the use of narcotics for chronic pain management, lidocaine patches are a great alternative. I've used them for over 7 years to treat chronic back and neck pain. I'm on my feet for 12+ hours a shift and lidocaine patches worked well enough for me to get through the day. BCBS gave me no problems and I can not wait to go back. Please do not make the mistake I made with this bulls#!% insurance provider. They are 10 feet below the bottom of the barrel and are just trash! You should strongly consider spending your hard earned money elsewhere and get the care you deserve.

GEHA Dental insurance is poor insurance. My wife and I had problems with denials in the one year we have had this insurance. At the beginning of the year they required paperwork that we had never had to do before. They paid my claims but would not pay my wifes due to some paperwork issue with primary insurance ( anyway to not pay I guess) She has the same primary as I do but they paid my smaller claim. Eventually they paid but Im sure the Dentist offices are tired of dealing with them. At the end of the year they refused to pay for a crown I got and instead paid for 2 fillings, much less. 1 year was enough, I am going to try delta care now because the dentist says they have less issues with them. I had metlife for several years but was tempted by GEHA larger annual limit. Not much use if they wont pay for legitimate dental work.

My dental office originally submitted an incorrect code for the crown portion of both of my two 3-part (implant, abutment, crown) implants, using the code for "Implant Supported Crown" instead of "Abutment Supported Crown." GEHA's Explanation of Benefits for both said " documentation ... does not verify necessity" for the abutments and allowed no coverage. Realizing the error, my dentist's office attempted to correct the erroneous code for the crown to Abutment Supported, but GEHA refused to acknowledge the corrections, but instead treated the submission as if they were replacement crowns, and simply reiterated their previous refusal to cover the abutments. I explained all this in detail in an appeal to an "independent third-party review" by P&R Dental Strategies, LLC, as required by GEHA. In their letter with the results of this review, GEHA did not reveal what the reviewers found, except to say "we have determined that we must uphold our benefit determination," referring once again to the originally miscoded implant-supported crowns as the reason the abutments were not covered. Through all of this, the EOB and letter correspondence have consisted of nothing but boilerplate statements seemingly pieced together by a computer, never addressing or even acknowledging what should have been the easily recognizable and fixable error. This customer service is the worst I have ever experienced, not to mention being stiffed by this company for over $700 because of a simple coding error. This is the kind of thing that gives the insurance industry a (deserved) black eye.

They have lousy customer service. The abdicated medication decisions to CVS who profits from pushing you off things that work to one's they get more money for. Constantly require reauthorization of all medications including providing the exact same information repeatedly. Always come up with new hoops to jump through to get the care you need. Do not follow your doctors medical opinion, they a an insurance company who cannot treat you know what is best for you. Try this medication you can't afford, now this one, n how about this one that you already had an allergic reaction to. Deny your claims repeatedly, demanding more information. Lie about benefits.

Geha will pay your first trip to a doctor but if they notice you see the doctor multiple times in 3 months or so they will start denying claims or find reasons to not pay your benefits for the visits or make you obligated to pay the doctor more than the copay listed in the Geha plans. For example, after a counseling visit at a health care facility Geha left me with a $150 bill to pay for the visit even though my Geha plan says I only pay a $25 copay. I appealed it but Geha denied my appeal. And they continue to find ways to not fully pay benefits for my other counseling visits that I much need. For example, today they claim I now should pay a $40 copay for visits to a psychiatrist instead of a $25 copay that they approved me on in the first visit. I feel traumatized and worried I can’t get the care I need because Geha wont make it easy or straightforward for me to pay a simple copay like they promised in their plan. Please do not sign up for them. They do not act in good faith and they care more about avoiding paying your medical bills than about your health.

Don't go to Geha if you have any kind of injury or preexisting pain managment. I made the kistake of switching January it is now May and have not been able to get a single pain managment aproved for my lumbar pain. First they denied it saying there was no imaging(mri 10-12-21, CT 11-20-21, xray 11-20-21) so I appealed it. Second denial said they do t pay for "EXPERIMENTAL" Treatments. Treatment has been proven used since the 1940s. Anything to get out of paying. Wife and daughter went to regular checkups and they send me letters stating "another insurance may be liable for some or all of this visit" we havnt had a secondary insurance since 2010. Worst insurance company I have EVER had, I am literally 1 denial away from canceling my insurance and just paying cash for treatments until next open season. Oh ya speaking of cash CASH COST FOR MRI $300, cost WITH Geha insurance $350. What a scam.

I have had GEHA for many years. Everything was good. Customer service was informed and friendly. Not anymore. They say they didn't increase premiums but they sure jacked around with benefits. Also now everytime a provider submits a bill they end up having to call me because it is not recognized by system. Never use to happen. Be cautious. Now when you ask if a provider is in network--be sure you verify they are in network for United Health Care and GEHA. Then verify with GEHA. What a hassle. After many years I will be changing next open season even if it cost a little more.

Geha health sucks big time. 0 customer response and ability to file complaints that go anywhere. Even when I quickly switched out of them they left one message wanting to know why I left . I repeatedly called to inform this paper pusher that I already made my complaints known but no one was available to hear them again. Among my many complaints was their using Quest diagnostics for bloodwork. Quest will take your blood but never sent results even when your doctor calls them to send results again. Look online in the Cleveland area and you will see many people have similar experience and are irate about it and still GEHA DOES NOTHING. I've lived in multiple states and GEHA is the worst ever experienced.

My biggest problem with GEHA is finding in Netwerk providers. They used to have a book but now they have information online. You can also call and try to get local doctors . However, the information is always incorrect. You can end up calling a dozen doctors who no longer participate, or no longer accept new patients, You're going to have to go out of network.

Chose GEHA based on their advertised plan fitting my needs with advertised great coverage. I even checked with my providers, including hospitals, and they all said the United PPO plan was accepted and participated with. However after recent emergency surgery with post op care, I find the insurance is either very poorly accepted or not accepted at all leaving me stranded in the middle of post op treatment requiring me to cover bills with no active insurance coverage. My healthcare providers inform me there is a small subcategory PPO I have that is the problem. Cant change companies until open enrollment in 11 months. I highly recommend DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

I would give this company a lesser rating but 1 star was the least I could give. I work in the orthodontic/dental industry and this company says they will give a large amount for orthodontics but is a lie. They will not give the full amount so don't think you will get that full benefit. Second they might say they cover adults but that is another lie. They look at our measurement and if it is not surgically needed they say its cosmetic. We can not give false measurement otherwise that would be insurance fraud. I would never sign up for this plan and I would never give the people that defend and protect our country this crappy insurance they deserve better.

You can have babies for free, but geha wants to charge $56 a month for my wife and I to attend a health fitness program! What a rip-off! Unfair and biased coverage! Why doesn't GEHA offer "silver sneakers" to members. The costs would be too high probably, but what about free maternity care? DO NOT recommend geha insurance for retirees!

GEHA dental said they would pay for a $200 mouth guard so I had one made. Then they denied the claim and said our health insurance should pay for it. Now I am stuck with the bill. They have money to have a stadium named for them but don't have money to cover what they promise. We dropped them. GEHA dental is HORRIBLE insurance!

GEHA Dental will not cover hardly anything their brochure says. They denied our claim for several fillings. Said there was not adequate proof of decay, and that the fillings were not necessary. Now we are stuck with a $1,300.00 bill that should have been under $300.00 per their coverage brochure. Considering having an attorney send them a letter threatening a lawsuit, but I doubt that will do any good. GEHA is a bunch of low life crooks!

This insurance is a rip to my family. First, it is very hard to find a provider for the dental much less a good provider. You can call those listed on the website and they say they are no longer providers. So, you go to a non provider thinking that have the high plan your cleaning and exam should be mostly covered. NOT, we have to pay $80 each out of pocket just for cleaning and exam. This is paying close to $90/mth for the insurance. Won't be happening with GEHA next year!

An absolute horrible Dental insurance. Claims get paid very late. Now recently I have not received a reimbursement so I sent a message and was told half of the claim´s reimbursement was sent to a "virtual credit card" and had not been claimed. When I asked how could I get the reimbursement I was not provided with a response. Rather they cited out of their brochure.

Worst dental insurance ever. They make you jump through hoops only to still deny your $50 claim. We are stuck paying $50 every 2 weeks until open enrollment. Suck a waste of money. My advice would be don't do this EVER to yourself. Delta is by far the BEST dental insurance company. My dentist told me most dental office's don't like dealing with geha because they don't pay for anything. Run

Can't get a MRI without prior authorization. My PCP referred me for MRI imaging after x-rays showed advanced degeneration yet GEHA denied the prior authorization not once, but twice stating I need 6 weeks of treatment without any profession. How does my PCP plan treatment without further knowledge of what is going on? Navy retiree now working as a Federal employee. GEHA needs to take the Government out of their name as they don't take care of those who serve.

I switched back to GEHA after doing military service and being gone from the feds from 2016-2021. Awful. Just awful. They refuse to pay simple health imaging without a fight. I do not understand them, saying an ultrasound is out of network with health images which is where the docs referred me. So much for the best insurance for federal employees on the planet. They suck - steer clear of them. Go somewhere else and save yourself and your sanity!

Have been with GEHA Dental High option for over a decade. until the past couple years, the coverage has been ok. Over the past 2 years GEHA has started delaying and denying every claim other than cleanings. Forcing me to have to dispute every claim in order to avoid having to pay out of pocket. customer service for GEHA is a 20/80 mix of good/bad service. Providers have stopped in network service of GEHA. Most providers will not file with GEHA for the customer anymore. Terrible company.

GEHA IS THE WORST INSURANCE COMPANY. I WAS SCHEDULED FOR A PROCEDURE THAT I'VE HADN'T HAD IN OVER A YEAR. GEHA PUT MY PROCEDURE AS A PENDING REVIEW STATUS AND DENIED THE SERVICE STATING THAT THEY NEEDED MORE INFORMATION. I WAS RESCHEDULED A MONTH LATER AND GEHA PUT IT IN PENDING REVIEW STATUS AGAIN TO DO NOTHING WITH IT. I'M STILL IN PAIN AND TAKING A BUNCH OF MEDICATION THAT ISN'T RELIEVING THE PAIN.

The GEHA High dental insurance in my case has refused to pay for crown build ups and crowns on three teeth I had emergency root canals that had already had large cavities. Appealed decision explaining I had a very complicated medical history effecting the health of my teeth and they simply could not care less. They advertised coverage they won't provide. POINTLESS PLAN. Escalating to HR in govt. Pay for what say and quit delaying my dental health care.

I am beyond upset with this insurance, just a day before my surgery they decide not to authorize it, after been more than a year with my condition going through all types of treatments and I finally get scheduled to get my health situation fix and they want to run me over by denying it and saying I need more treatment!! This medical situation has cost me money, time, and much more that they can care less!! All about receiving money but not paying out for services!! I will be changing insurance company on open enrollment!!! Please do not enroll!!

Used to be a good insurance, not any more. Seems they are more concerned with having their name on a football stadium than pruviding what they say they will to their "customers". Also thought you had to be current or retired federal employee to get this insurance, would sure like to know when the Kansas City Cheifs became federal employees. Will be changing at next open enrolement!!!! Just found out today they hadent paid my 100% covered annual physical bills since 2018, has been sent to collections.

I would give GEHA a negative 5 rating if possible. This is the worst insurance I have ever used by far. Almost everything has been denied by a nurse or doctor who has never seen me. I will be leaving them as soon as open season comes back around. Until then I guess I will live in pain and hope I don't die in my sleep. Do not use GEHA you will be so sorry.

We just signed up for GEHA dental/orthodontics. Their plan seemed too good to be true and now I know why. The options for in network orthodontic providers is very disappointing. Our only options are an office of inexperienced orthodontists with a high turnover rate, student orthodontists at a college, or two orthodontists that had no office or reviews listed online. Very, very disappointing. I’m considering changing to another insurance provider.

GEHA changed the provider they used without informing us. We had the same GEHA number (which apparently means nothing), but a different provider. We weren't even sent a new card or contacted in any way about the change. And the new provider no longer covered the doctor that we had chosen. No one informed us of this until after we started receiving out-of-network bills for thousands of dollars.

They use CVS/Caremark for pres drugs. This company does a poor job supporting subscribers through their overuse of 'prior authorization' from the very doctors who prescribed the drugs in the first place.

Eight months into our first (and ONLY) year with GEHA Dental, I am NOT IMPRESSED. They have denied more claims than they have paid and are doing everything they can to avoid paying for covered orthodontic work. Also, their tedious secure message process is the worst I've encountered.

This is the WORST dental insurance I have EVER had. They promise a lot in their brochure and then pay almost nothing. They typical response is Denied, Denied. Don't waste your money! They are unethical and corrupt. You are better off having no dental coverage at all. If I could give them minus stars I would.

Worst federal medical insurance I have ever had. Don’t get it. Run from it!!! I sought a place to give them a poor review. Lied about coverage of my medication and then didn’t cover it. Everything that is wrong about the current US medical system is right here
