1-800-Get-Lens has been in the business of selling contacts and glasses since 1995 — even before the internet was created. It has since made the transition from mail-order lenses to online ordering, but its business model is the same: the company buys contacts and glasses in bulk from the same manufacturers that eye doctors use, and thus 1-800-Get-Lens is able to sell them to you at a discount and often ship them to you much faster than your eye doctor is able to get them.

Based in Missouri, 1-800-Get-Lens keeps the largest independent inventory of contact lenses in the US and offers free standard shipping and returns on all orders shipped in the United States. It sells both name-brand frames and name-brand contacts at up to 50% off your optician’s price.

The company usually ships orders either the same or next business day. To date, 1-800-Get-Lens has successfully delivered over 4.5 million contacts and glasses orders.

The Good

  • Return Policy
  • Simple Ordering and Reordering
  • 24/7 Customer Service
  • Buy More, Save More Option
  • Name Brands

Return Policy

1-800-Get-Lens has a very simple and generous return policy. Not only does it offer free shipping on all returns in the United States, but it also allows unlimited returns on unopened boxes of contacts forever, meaning even if you’ve had them for a long time and end up not needing them, you can still return them.

With glasses, you are given a 30-day window to try them out and see how you like the fit. If you are not satisfied, you can get a free shipping label to send them back. With both glasses and contacts, 1-800-Get-Lens offers a 100 percent money-back guarantee.

Simple Ordering and Reordering

On 1-800-Get-Lens’ website, you can order contacts or glasses in about five minutes. All you need is a prescription from your eye doctor or the box with your contact lens prescription on it. Once you provide that information, you are ready to order your contacts, and the company takes care of the rest.

As a perk, returning customers can simply reorder from a previous prescription, and can even set up recurring email reminders, so you never have to keep track of when it’s time to order contacts again.

24/7 Customer Service

1-800-Get-Lens’ customer service representatives are available via phone, email, or live chat around the clock, so even if you remember to place your order late at night or early in the morning and have questions, you can get the help you need.

Buy More, Save More Option

On top of the discounts already offered by 1-800-Get-Lens, you can also save even more by buying your contacts in bulk as a year’s supply. With this option, you also get a free contacts' case.

Name Brands

1-800-Get-Lens offers a large number of name brands for both contacts and glasses. These include Johnson & Johnson, Oakley, Air Optix, Ray Ban, and many more. The company also has a selection of sunglasses available, also from popular brands.

The Bad

  • Insurance
  • Product Pages

Insurance

We can’t find any information indicating that 1-800-Get-Lens partners with any insurance networks, so likely, it’s services would be out of network. That being said, you may have options for getting reimbursed through your insurance if you purchase glasses or contacts from 1-800-Get-Lens, depending on your policy.

Product Pages

Some of 1-800-Get-Lens’ product pages don’t have any content on them, making its website more difficult to navigate and decreasing the quality of the user experience because it takes longer to find what you are actually interested in.

The Bottom Line

If you’re planning to pay out of pocket for your contacts or glasses, 1-800-Get-Lens might be a great option for you, as the company offers name-brand lenses often at significant discounts and has fast, free shipping options.

Ordered two $80 boxes of lenses when I looked at my email receipt. The total was $223 but it showed the two $80 boxes and shipping was only 995. There is no explanation for the other $55 I called and had to talk to them for a while to get them to cancel my order a few hours lateryet have not received an email saying it’s been canceled. They told me the $55 was for process my order very misleading that they do not put the itemization on the receipt.

This company has every style you can imagine. You can pick from hundreds of pairs of frames. There is a style that fits everyone. They are affordable and they do not take long to get you reading and seeing right again.

Ordered contacts yesterday. Went to cancel my order because I found WAY better deals. I was told there was a $45 processing fee that I would be responsible for. Never will I use this site again. They literally just verified my prescription an hour ago. Shame on them

My glasses I bought were good. One of the lenses were scratched when I got them and they fixed it at no charge. But every single time you're billed, it's a different amount. They say they split your payments to make it easier for you to afford but then they add on additional charges. It makes no sense. The only reason they got 2 stars was because my glasses were what I was told they would be. Note to self, don't order offline. It also took 7 days to get my glasses where I was told it would take 2 or 3.

I love the glasses that I ordered from 1-800-Get-Lens. They match my style perfectly and the price was great. The shipping was fast and ordering was easy. I would recommend 1-800-Get-Lens for ordering glasses.

After 30 days, 4 phone calls & 10 emails, I have still not been able to get replacement lenses for my FedEx order which was lost in transit. The Customer Service team tells me that it will be at least 10 more business days before they would be able to consider processing my request. With no additional recourse, I have pleaded several times for a response to this now urgent request.
