The Bad

  • Not ISO Certified
  • Few Debt Education Resources
  • Less Than 10 Years of Experience
  • Lack of Accreditation

Not ISO Certified

A company with an ISO certification means that the company meets the standards set by the International Organization for Standardization. Christian Debt Counselors is a company that, for whatever reason, does not have an ISO certification. Standards set by the ISO include requirements for quality management, materials, and products. A lack of ISO certification can dissuade consumers from using of Christian Debt Counselors.

Few Debt Education Resources

Compared to other debt education companies, Christian Debt Counselors does not have as many resources or tools for consumers regarding debt education. Christian Debt Counselors does not have many of the same tools and resources that other companies have when it comes to educating consumers on how to manage student loans or what factors need to be considered when buying a home.

Experience

Christian Debt Counselors has only been in business since 2007. Other debt consolidation companies have significantly more experience with as much as five decades of helping consumers manage and eliminate debt.

Lack of Accreditation

Christian Debt Counselors is not accredited by the National Foundation for Credit Counseling (NFCC). Additionally, the company is not accredited by the Financial Counseling Association of America (FCAA), another similar accreditation organization. Having an accreditation from the NFCC or the FCAA means that a debt consolidation company is part of the greater debt consolidation community while adhering to industry best-practices and ethics.

The Bottom Line

Christian Debt Counselors has displayed the ability to resolve customer issues. The organization also assists consumers through financial literacy programs and credit counseling programs. However, Christian Debt Counselors does not have ISO certified counselors and has only been around since 2007. Our recommendation is to do thorough research of debt consolidation companies with a proven track record before moving forward with any debt consolidation company.

Friend Wells Richmond, VA

One year into the program. CDC simply acted as a referral and handed me over to a law firm. They are now not able to help at all. The law firm (Arnold Law) made some rash commitments and now it doesn't seem like they will be able to satisfy my creditors after all. If I had to do it again, i would ignore the "Christian" label and go with the best rated service.
