The Good

  • Cash Back Rewards
  • Other Benefits
  • Credit Protection Program

Cash Back Rewards

In most cases, card members get 1 percent cash back rewards for eligible purchases. Some account holders get 1.1 percent back on dining purchases. Cash back purchase categories depend on your eligibility and your card, but Credit One Bank offers cards with cash back rewards in these categories where eligible:

  • Gas
  • Groceries
  • Mobile phone service
  • Internet service
  • Cable and satellite TV service
  • Dining purchases

Account members with the NASCAR Visa card get cash back rewards in these categories where eligible:

  • Gas
  • Automotive purchases
  • Double cash back rewards on NASCAR.com purchases

All qualifying rewards post to your account automatically.

Other Benefits

In addition to cash back rewards, Credit One Bank credit card holders enjoy several other benefits at no additional cost:

  • Apple Pay capabilities
  • Travel accident and auto rental collision insurance
  • Experian monthly credit score and credit report summary
  • Zero fraud liability
  • Customizable account notifications via text and/or email

Credit Protection Program

Credit One Bank offers an optional Credit Protection Program that helps make your payments if you experience involuntary unemployment or disability and includes a loss of life benefit. The program costs $0.96 per $100 of your new balance each month.

The Bad

  • Foreign Transaction Fees
  • Credit Line Increase Cost
  • Credit Protection Eligibility Requirements

Foreign Transaction Fees

With Credit One Bank, foreign transactions incur a fee of either $1 or 3 percent for each purchase in U.S. dollars, whichever is greater. This fee is problematic for U.S. citizens living abroad and is an important consideration for frequent travelers.

Credit Line Increase Cost

Credit One Bank automatically looks for credit line increase opportunities, which is useful, but a fee may apply for this service. The bank doesn’t specify if you can opt out of this service and its accompanying fees.

Credit Protection Limitations

Potential enrollees in the Credit Protection Program should be aware that if you work less than 20 hours per week you are ineligible for unemployment benefits. In addition, only the primary cardholder is protected and you cannot use your card while receiving benefits.

The Bottom Line

Credit One Bank has impressive rewards programs, credit score tracking, and fraud safeguards like EMV chip technology and 24/7 account monitoring. As an added perk, you can choose from over 20 card designs to give your card some personality.

Since the cards are Visa, Credit One Bank cards are accepted at most merchants worldwide. However, every foreign purchase incurs a fee that can quickly counter the cash back rewards, so the card is best used in the United States.

If you need a company to work with to turn your credit around, they're alright. At least will talk to you (500+ FICO) and will give you a low limit card to work with ($300). Aside from that, there's no actual real benefit or perks to having their card. The credit line increases are tiny, about $200-$250 once maybe twice per year, and come in a form of a check in the mail to cash and they treat your increase as a cash advance (high interest), which I just put the money aside and when the statement comes showing the balance I pay it in full with their own money. I've had the card over 5 years and they've only increased my limit from $300 to $1600 in that time, and I've been almost or over a 700 FICO now for about the last 2 years, while I have 4 other cards with either no preset limit, or $4,500+ limits. You have to pay 10 dollars to have your payment processed in the same time frame as any other card, but paying your card thru their "standard" method you don't pay a fee, but will take almost a week to process and reflect on your account. The cash back rewards are the smallest I've ever seen, 1% and only on certain categories of purchases. Honestly, I'd close the card and forget about them, but I'd be closing 5 yrs of good history off so I only use it for my credit monitoring subscriptions and netflix, I don't and won't carry a balance with them.

They charge you $15 everytime you increase your credit line which is ridiculous. Customer service is awful. Their website is fairly user friendly but I've seen better. The card serves its purpose I guess of building ones credit but I also feel like they trick you at the same time with high interest rate and the charge to increase your credit line. Would not reccomend.
