CarShield has provided vehicle protection to over 1,000,000 cars since its founding in 2005. Its goal is to "provide an exceptional experience by providing every owner of a vehicle with a dependable, reliable, and affordable solution to unexpected and costly repairs." CarShield offers plans for new cars, used cars, and motorcycles. Each of these plans are designed to be flexible to make it easy for the consumer to customize a plan that fits perfectly to their needs.
 
Car owners should be aware that extended car warranties do not cover car repairs resulting from normal wear and tear or failure to properly maintain the vehicle. An extended auto warranty also does not cover pre-existing conditions on the vehicle. It is crucial to keep up to date on the maintenance of your vehicle to prevent voiding your car warranty. An extended car warranty is not car insurance. Car insurance helps cover accident repair costs and liability for accidents. To find an insurance policy, research car insurance providers. An extended warranty is also not a manufacturer's warranty. A manufacturer's warranty typically comes with the purchase of a new vehicle and when this warranty expires you cannot get a new manufacturer's warranty. CarShield offers a variety of vehicle service contracts to fit car owners' budgets and their car protection service needs. Each offers a unique level of coverage, giving customers options depending on their coverage needs. CarShield offers coverage for cars with up to 250,000 miles on them. This gives those who have cars with higher mileage the opportunity to purchase a car warranty.

  • Diamond — This plan is most similar to the factory warranty that accompanies a new car. It covers practically all the electrical and mechanical parts on the vehicle, ranging from engine and transmission failures to starter problems, and even the computers and sensors within the vehicle.
  • Platinum — This vehicle service contract is very similar to the Diamond protection plan. It protects your vehicle’s engine, transmission, air conditioner, electrical system, starter, water pump, fuel pump, and more.
  • Gold — Gold coverage is ideal for vehicles with over 100,000 miles. This includes the engine, transmission, water pump, alternator, starter, air conditioner, and power windows
  • Silver — This is the most affordable plan CarShield offers to protect the most essential components in a vehicle, such as the engine, transmission, drive axle, and water pump.
  • Aluminum — Since more modern cars have electrical and electronic systems that can be difficult to repair or replace, this plan covers the most advanced systems in a car. This also includes things like basic computer control systems and the infotainment system within a vehicle. This plan does not cover the Power Train on a vehicle.
  • Other — In this category of CarShield’s plans, you will find a number of options that cover unorthodox types of vehicles. These can include things like motorcycle coverage, ATV coverage, and more.

CarShield's extended warranty plans are for new and pre-owned vehicles.

Monthly Plans

In addition to providing plans that are term-based, such as five years and 60,000 miles of coverage, CarShield offers contracts that renew on a monthly basis so you can keep the coverage on your vehicle for as long as you choose. 

Other Features

CarShield offers other features to its clients upon request. All CarShield auto repairs have a very low or nonexistent deductible. When you need a covered repair, it will be fixed 100 percent free, or the customer will be responsible for a minimal deductible for repairs.

I have been a customer on and off since 2019...but it seems as if its always something. For this company to take money every month, it has only paid out one time for AC for 1 of 4 or 5 cars that I've had covered. But this last incident makes me never want to use them ever again. I had 2 cars covered. 1 canceled for non payment which i thought both should've been canceled being that they both was on the same policy. I realized that they had been still pulling for 1 of the cars. I asked to cancel the policy and please return the last payment they are attempting to pull that I didnt authorize. I was told no refund can be issued. Even though I explained I was getting charged for months and I thought the account was canceled. Pay Attention..make sure they cover everything or its a waste of money. And if you never call and cancel you will still be charged.

I was curious about CarShield after seeing an advertisement the previous day. It dawned on me that my current car is 20+ years old, and that my current insurance likely wouldn't be able to cover having to scrounge up hard to obtain parts. After asking for information and a possible quote, they answered my questions and eased my concerns (because I recently had a sensor light turn on, and I'm praying it's just a frayed wire or loose connector), and explained how small the copay would be for replacement parts. I highly recommend that anyone with an older car (10-20+ years) to at least look into this. True, there may be parts out there, but think about it like this. Manufacturers really aren't making parts for a 20+ year old car. Those that have it in inventory are likely able to hike up the rate to acquire it, then you have to deal with the maintenance fees, which are going to likely leave you in debt. I'd much rather prefer the peace of mind with having CarShield handling the costs of those parts, and only having to put a copay out of pocket, instead of a couple of grand.

DON'T BUY THIS COVERAGE! I would give them a zero if i could. I grilled their sales people about coverage for my convertible top and was promised it would be covered if it broke. well, it broke and now they are pointing to a place totally buried in the contract that seems to list every single part of the car (and i dug through the contract with a fine tooth comb before purchase) to say the break isn't covered. Now, not only am I out the $120/month for the last six or so months, but am faced with an $1800 repair bill. The car isn't driveable because the top is stuck down. I asked for a refund and they won't do that either. Oh - and this is after being given the run-around and being hung up on by the plan administrator (american auto shield). I have the "diamond" coverage, but i think what that really means is i pay more for nothing in return.

I had car shield on my Jaguar it broke down at a drive-thru restaurant I thought oh well I'm covered had it towed in to the Jaguar dealership thought carshield would pay for towing boy was I wrong they said my breakdown wasn't covered under their policy so they wouldn't go even pay my towing so much for roadside assistance and towing bull crap all the money I paid in couldn't even pay for my towing made me so mad I cancel I do not recommend this place for nobody big rip off they make claims and never follow through with them they only pay if they want to look out people they'll say it's not covered and all the money you've been paying in you're losing wish I had my money back 2 years ago I done this very disappointed x customer !!!!!

Maybe I'm different. I read the contract and understand the service requirements specified by the auto manufacturer and, that I may need to provide proof that required maintenance and services are kept up to date. SO, my transmission caused a problem within the first month of my CarShield coverage. The repair shop called CarShield and the repairs were made and paid for by CarShield. They do what they say they will do and I feel comfortable with their service agreement.

Hi... I called in for some temporary help during the Coronavirus problem. I needed a lil help with the bill during the time of zero income. It meant the whole difference between keeping coverage and not. The lady I talked with was very understanding, and accommodating. She gave a smaller discount than I had hoped for, but she made it permanent, which was more than I asked for, so all in all, my call was more than productive, and in the long run, will save me a bit more. They seem to care. I have not used my insurance yet. But they have worked with me by lowering my monthly payment during these hard times. I was going to cancel after almost paying for a year with no use. But the rep was kind and offered to take away the COVID19 lockdown month payment, and then lowered my monthly payment to help trying to recover after my Massage business was deemed non-essential.. Thank God I have some therapy clients so i am able to still eat durning these times. Thank you and I pray the Lord blesses this company for their compassion

The wait on the phone to speak with a representative is not long. The reps were patient and pleasant to work with. The reps explained the service I was getting and did not rush me.I was told of different discounts and how the policy payments would be. I am resting assured knowing CarShield will be protecting my car no matter the mileage and I have road side service with them.

CarSheild is simply smart coverage. For a fair premium, they covered a whole range of possible car breakdowns on our vehicles. I feel that their policies are effective in coverage, great pricing, and easy to work with on repair reimbursement. Meaning they work directly with the repair shops alleviating you to not worry about. Great service and value all around.

My experience with Car Shield was excellent ! The customer service agent was well informed and knowledgeable about the company. He was very pleasant to talk to and patient. He answered all of my questions completely and explained the contract . He is an asset to Car Shield because he understands the value of good customer service. I signed up for a Gold contract and he was part of the reason I closed the deal. I would refer anyone to Car Shield. I was quite surprised to learn that the two plans combined together are a huge savings to me of at least $200 each visit to the dealership for a major repair. To me this piece of mind is priceless. My truck lost it's transmission 24 days after buying it and also getting a Car Shield contract. Through miscommunication between the local Car Shield rep' and the Ford service rep', it took six weeks for my truck to get fixed. I now believe that it was the Ford service rep' dealing out alot of drama, ie. Taking hours to talk to CS, including excess cost onto me, etc.. It did however take CS 3-4 weeks to do their investigation and get back to me. You would think they would update me every week at least. I have yet to be reimbursed for the car rental of thirty four days, four of which is only covered by CS. Overall, it was great that CS took charge and covered 90% of my cost even though I chose a Ford remanufactured transmission. I'll keep going with Car Shield.

Car Shield's customer service rep., Michell, was professional, personable and a delight to talk with. Too often dealing with companies customer service is degrading and unsatisfactory. Not so with Car Shield, and yes I am a real person/customer! I had to cancel coverage on my 2013 Tacoma 4X4 due to being rear-ended by an 18 wheeler on I25 in Colorado on 1/28/2019. I still have coverage with Car Shield on my wife's 2004 Highlander. I don't believe I'll get the same satisfaction from the insurance companies fighting over who is going to take liability for the totalled Tacoma. Ted Hall

Whenever I speak to one of the representatives, they are always attentive, professional and friendly. The employees are knowledgeable and answer all of my questions in great detail. My car is currently the shop and I'm waiting to see how many of my items that are needed to be repaired are approved and taken care of and how long is process takes. It has been in the shop at Autohaus for over 1 week. I am eagerly waiting for my repairs to be completed and how much deductible I have to pay.

Because we saw CarShield on the TV we originally asked for a quote but found out what a good deal it was we knew we had to take advantge of it today. We were not pressured to do anything . The Customer Service Representative was very kind, patient and knowledgeable with everything. We have had our one vehicle for 15 years but it has low mileage so we knew we needed a special warranty. He was also was able to get us a deal for two vehicles and we were able to set up a life time warranty for both under $200. We would recommend CarShield to all who are looking for a vehicle warranty.

I invested in CarShield believing in the advertisement and the claims they make. I maintained Silver coverage due to the fact I wanted my son to not have the burden of a financial bomb 💣 go off for his car repairs. Well CarShield did not and has not lived up to all the payments invested in their insurance. I would definitely recommend NOT TO INVEST IN CAR SHIELD. They give you every reason why you should get it UNTIL YOU NEED IT then they tell you EVERY REASON WHY THEY WILL NOT COVER YOUR ISSUE. On the first car repair case it took many phone calls to get them to honor their Silver Coverage. Then just today they remained true to their lack of integrity as a company. I am greatly disappointed and sadly disheartened at the customer services lack of professionalism and commitment to be less than integris in their dealings. Waste of Investment ; More like a money pit than insurance that gets you car assurance and peace of mind. Do NOT INVEST IN CAR SHIELD.

I would love for the people saying they got their claim approved to tell me how they did it. Cars been in shop for 2 weeks and they haven't so much as started because they amount of time the book they use to tell them how much labor hours something should take to fix goes by national average and our repair was more then the hours in the book. Confused by this and many calls later they have now changed the amount of time approved from 2 hrs to .5 hour. Rip off and scam. Guaranteed the reviews saying otherwise are fake or bought. Check the BBB page if you don't believe me. The representitves tall over you and cut you off. Worst people skills I've ever dealt with in my life. They are rude enough to pass off the pope!

I purchased a warranty for my 2015 Mercedes Benz C300. First of all, the customer service that I had experienced was excellent. The rear differential broke and I took the car to the mechanic of my choice. And the adjuster worked with my mechanic professionally and replaced that part at no cost to me. Process time 1 week. Also, a modular went bad on same car. The service advisor notified CarSheild of the problem and cost of the part. It was fixed the next day.

The monthly prices for plans and coverage are very reasonable. As inconvenient as it may seem to add a new monthly bill, it's better than being stuck paying thousands for unexpected repairs. CarShied rep was very efficient and got right to the point of what they do and don't do and all in time for me NOT to miss dinner. :) I have an aging Saturn VUE that is a good running car that just needs a little reassurance. Thanks CarShield. I appreciate it.

I see a lot of reviews on here about denied claims, but myself being a smart and responsible consumer have Never had that problem. I was offered a review period to see my contract in writing, and I made sure to choose the plan that was beneficial to me.. I read the fine print and took note of what exactly was covered, and instead of filing claims on parts I knew weren’t covered, I filed them on things I knew WERE. READ THE FINE PRINT BEFORE YOU USE THE COVG!!!!!

These people up here Scam, do not give these people any money. I’ve had them for almost 2 years $129 a month. My keys were locked in my car they wanted $216 to unlock it so why am I paying $129 a month and anyone that I’ve tried to use CarShield everybody refuses them because they are not reputable. Bottom line is they don’t want to pay a dime, and they never use new parts.

Car shield is good for taking payments but when I needed them they tell me my mileage wasn't enough to over my repairs in other words I didn't drive the car enough to cover damages. Working and driving my other car allowed me to not drive my 2013 genesis except maybe to start and around the block, later finding My motor might have failed contact car shield and was told My mileage was enough after paying months of car shield payments I feel car sheild is as false as the words they pay Ice cube or any other actor advertising their product. The money I spent making monthly payments could have been used to repair my car because Car shield didn't and it's sad to that car sheild maybe targeting people of color and not fulfilling their obligations because several people have had the same result. Don't believe Ice T , I ove my brother as an actor in movies, but advertising for carshield absolutely not ! My car broke down route 22 Union NJ on a Saturday. Car wouldn't start, so the only alternative was to call Carshield. I've spoken to a receptionist in regard to my car issues. Carshield said one of the carshop places that's the closest to me is pepboys. We have a contact with them, 2 miles away, so I agree To towe it there. Towing truck guy arrived warning me that he just got over the covid 19 virus, so please put a mask on for your protection because im still feeling kinda light sick. I didn't want to ride with the guy, but I had no choice. At least he was honest, so I wasn't too mad about it, so I put a mask on. I get to pepboys it's 6 pm place close at 7 pm. They can't do the diagnostic until the next day because they have two customers in front of me, and plus, on weekends, we only have one mechanic working, but we'll do our best to get you the diagnostic results, I said ok no problem, well I didn't hear from pepboys so I'd waited until Sunday early mornings to give them a call. They told me my car diagnostic, and the step is to call Carshield first Monday morning. Monday late afternoon Carshield never called me and ask how's everything going, infact I arrived at pepboys unannounced to see what's going on. Enter pepboys spoken the receptionist about my car. He looked pised off looking at, like something made him mad. I asked what going on? He's asked am I the one with Carshield and have a silver Ford Taurus on our lot ? I answered yes, his statement well you need to call Carshield because they refuse the parts we've gotten them your car could been done. I've Carshield to find out what going, now remind you I just made a payment within the same month before all this happened. So I called Carshield, a woman answered the phone, I explained what had happened. She's start saying it's mechanic pepboys' responsibility to explain to me about the procedure at the shop. Well, I went back into the shop and spoke to pepboys. I explained to him about what Carshield said. His eyes got 5 browns rising. So make a long story short In up paying out of my while, Carshield and pepboys refuse to cooperate, holding my car hostage. My two jobs threatening me, I was catching Uber. So I'm telling you do not get Carshield because they will leave you in a bad situation.

I don’t know where to began.I purchased car shield and within a week I decided to decline.I spoke with Deonna and told her I decided against my policy .she refused to accept my answer that I no longer wanted the policy. She asked me the same question I know at least 4 times. Why? When I informed her to let me talk with a manager she said you can’t There is no one else the buck stops with me and then said if you raise your voice to me I am going to hang the phone up and I was shock that you would tell a customer paying money for a service this.sure enough she hung up the phone. I got on my laptop researched every VP and ceo , cfo at car shield and emailed and complained. Called back to car shield and complained. They her had her to send me a letter and her job title was a customer service agent. They thought that I was going to pay for the first month I called my credit card company disputed the charge and won.. And auntie Vivica f need to rethink their endorsement I have not looked at her the same since..please advocate for yourself very disappointed in this company if it’s to good to be true usually it is

I had an excellent experience with the two reps. I spoke with. They knew their job, & did it well. I was very excited to sign up with Car Shield. I know both of my cars are getting up there in age, & I foresee in the near future, hopefully not, I'll need some automobile service.
