I have been saving money on Turo car rentals for 3 years now. I always select airport pick up and drop off for the greatest convenience. No shuttle, no lines! On my most recent trip to Honolulu for 13 days, I saved 60% over using a traditional car rental company!

Easy to navigate and reserve a car. Fees differ for different days, not clear if that is being done by Turo or the car owner. App very efficient in managing end-to-end process. Should be fee assessed to owner, and credited to traveler, for reservations canceled by owner at the last minute. Very responsive support personnel, in the event you have a question not already covered in their extensive FAQs.

So many great cars available for rent, makes it hard to settle on a utility one. Did it selecting a Mini Cooper with six standard gears that was a pleasure to drive. The rest of the Turo operation was a piece of cake! Everything easy at much better cost than the “old” car rentals!

For the most part, Turo is a great concept and allows their users who don't have a need to drive in their everyday lives, to pick one up with ease. Where they fall short is service and operations. For example, I rented a car for a business trip and the when the car was pulled up to me in the lot with the windows down, I along with all the other customers, got a strong smell of cigarette and marijuana smoke. Let me remind you, this was rented for a business trip. The attendants at the lot said I need to get in touch with Turo. Phone calls provided no help so I left an email. Did not receive a response until 3 days later. My trip ended the next day. There was no attempt to make good on this or appease my terrible experience. Granted, this was one bad experience out of a handful of good experiences but nonetheless, a bad taste in my mouth (and bad smell in my clothes for that matter).

We never realized how expensive car rentals can be. But after I found turo the prices were way more reasonable and I still had options to choose from! I have already told so many people it’s worth looking into if you need a car!

The car was an upgrade to what was offered by the big rental companies and $115 less. I was picked up and dropped off at the airport and I was in easy communication with the owner. I would use Truro again and have recommended it to my family and friends.

The program has worked very well for me, most recently renting a Toyota Prius out of Minneapolis Airport. The owners have been very co-operative and helpful with follow ups to confirm all is ok. The cost is definitely better than regular rentals and there is no hassle at the counters, etc.

Loved Turo and wish I had known about it sooner. I only stumbled across your company when I did a google search for jeep rentals in DC. I couldn't find what I needed through the regular rental services and your company popped up. Lucky me. I won't go back after using your service. Thank you!

There are no guarantees of your experience with Turo. Your car may be amazing, or full of trash and wobbly at highway speed. Your host might even decide to cancel on you at the last minute and you'll be stuck struggling to find a reservation when it would have been easy days earlier. However, if you cancel last minute, they keep all your money. The only thing that makes these troubles tolerable is that if you are in a city that is well served, you can find a car close to where you are at a reasonable price instead of going to one of the major rental agencies farther away. Also, when you have issues, if you complain enough you can get a $30 travel credit. I think they are still working the kinks out at Turo.

Turo is a great concept. I don't think all of it's users understand the concept of a community sharing service however. Turo still has work to do with it's booking system as well. I've had several experiences where I booked a vehicle and it wasn't actually available and had to be refunded. All of the vehicles aren't clean when you pick them up either unlike a traditional rental car services.

Everything about my experience with TURO and Aldin S. (the care owner) was seamless and worry free. I couldn't have had a better experience and vehicle for my week long trip to the Bay area. Would definitely use TURO again and recommend it to anyone needing that extra special rental vehicle.

I've been thrilled with with every rental experience I've had with Turo! To heck with those big rental companies and all the hoops they make you jump through! My experience with Turo was amazing and I wouldn't mind using them again. Everything was hassle free, straight forward, and easy to understand. From check-in to Check-out i've had clear communication from who I rented from and was also assisted with additional options from rentee that was easily billed later on.

I love using Turo to get rental cars. You don’t have to go through all the hassle that you would with a normal rental car service as well there’s not a whole bunch of hidden fees. Very easy for a young driver (under the age of 25) to rent a vechile without a credit card or a $200 or more deposit.

I am really pleased with Turo except for one thing. .. Before my first trip, I went to the website to use the $25 code, but was unable to. I called customer service, told them the website would not allow me to use the promo, and asked if maybe I could use it now. I was told no, it had to be before the first trip. I'm a satisfied customer, but would have been an EXTREMELY satisfied customer if I were able to get the $25 credit.

Turo is the best...give your money, and not much of it...to a person like you who's willing to share. Buy more luxury with your money and find a car with some character. Do you want to drive a mundane rental? Or, something with a personality. I think Turo is the best and i will ALWAYS check the listings from Turo before I travel anywhere.

We rented our car in Phoenix, AZ. The pickup at the airport was quick and easy, as was the short drive to the office. The same was true on our return. Fast, friendly service. The only reason I am not giving a 5 star rating is because the car itself was a bit sluggish going through the hills between Phoenix and Flagstaff. The ease of rental and staff were excellent.

I like dealing with actual people rather than big businesses. Turo allows me to do just that. The convenience of having someone drop off the car to me & pick it up when I'm done is a game changer when visiting a city that I've never been to. I don't want to waste time getting to my journey. I want it to begin right away.

Very bad first impression! Booked a car, owner did not respond in a timely manner so we had to cancel. A refund was received but was over $70 short because of the difference in exchange rate. We paid with a Canadian card and the amount was in USD. However, no mention in the policies about not accounting for differences in exchange rates or else we could have acted differently (paid with a USD card). Customer service couldn't do anything, offered credit but we will not be using site again. They offered to talk to someone to put policy on site but didn't help our current situation. Very disappointed.

I am so happy that someone came up with this car rental idea. My first experience with Turo was to my trip to Las Vegas! It was my 21st birthday and I wanted to ride out in style. I was able to rent a 2018 range rover for 38$ a day! It has cars all the way from kia optimas to mercedes G wagon! I like this company so much because you literally get to choose the exact car that you want to rent, and the people who cars you are renting will meet you wherever you're at to ensure the best experience!

I rented a minivan on turo. The vehicle was given to us dirty and unsafe. The vehicle had actual garbage in the vehicle and old underwear. It couldn't have been dirtier. I've attached pictures of the vehicle to show the trash in the beginning of the trip that shows how unclean the vehicle was and the underwear under the seat. We removed the trash so we could continue on our trip. The owner provided us an unsafe vehicle that had wipers that didn't work, a rear light turn signal that was broken, a side door that didn't lock, a window that wouldn't close properly, and a windshield that was so scratched from not replacing the wipers we couldn't see properly through it at night. I brought all of this up to the renter and they told me to fix it and they would reimburse me. I fixed the wipers and the turn signal so it was at least drive able. The wind shield being scratched makes this vehicle very unsafe. I cleaned the vehicle so we wouldn't be late for our vacation, otherwise I would have returned the vehicle. I didn't know about the vehicle safety issues until after I was on the road and it was too late to turn back and return the vehicle. Turo customer support blamed me for the dirty vehicle. They only support the vehicle owner.

TURO Upon arriving at the Portland, Maine airport, the Turo team served us an enormous “S**T SANDWICH” that ended up costing us $1,600US. They had canceled our two week reservation while we were in the air - a reservation that we had made 2 1/2 months earlier because of the well-known shortage of rental cars and accommodations in Portland during the fall foliage season. Turo’s irresponsible action left us high and dry - with absolutely zero rental cars available in the Portland area. Without a car, we could not get to our reserved accommodations a hundred miles away in Belfast, and the only room available in Portland was at the Hilton at the rate of $295/night. The two week vacation that we had planned and reserved 2 1/2 months ago had just turned to “S**T”! The stated excuse for the cancellation was that there was a problem with a tire. But in our fruitless search for a rental car we were told by an airport official and several car rental agents that Turo was engaged in an illegal scheme of staging rental cars a the airport parking lots with an attached combination lock box containing the keys. We were told that, when the lock boxes were discovered, the airport authorities would have the car towed off the lot. Several people at the airport suggested that the car we reserved had been towed, and that the tire excuse was BS. I should note that the Turo team stepped in to“address/solved our problem” by offering us a three day rental somewhere in Maine that would begin in 12 days - the day before our scheduled flight back to Denver. The next day, our landlady in Belfast rescued us by arranging local transportation to Belfast ($200) and locating a Enterprise rental car in Belfast (at $1,900: $1,100 more that the prepaid Turo reservation). So, by spending an extra $1,600 and wasting one day of our vacation, we were able to recover from Turo’s thoughtless and irresponsible actions.

The concept of Turo is great. But our personal experience of renting a Prius for a month was less than satisfactory, particularly when you add in all the fees that Turo dumps on you. The pickup was reasonable. We used the app to save pictures of the car and the host was onsite to give us a key. The car stank, badly. My wife, the primary driver, didn't comment until we had the car in front of our home. Someone had smoked in the vehicle. We let it air out on a nice day but the stank didn't go away. The return process as terrible. We showed up 20 minutes before the appointed return time. After 40 minutes we reached out to the host and after another ten minutes they said to leave the keys in the mail slot. There was no advanced communication from the host. Later they claimed to have been onsite at the appointed time but had to leave. Total baloney that I assume was for Turo's benefit. We needed an additional one month car rental and we ended up going with Budget. It was much cheaper and their quoted price as all in without the extra's Turo piles on. If you need a vehicle, look at all options before making a decision. For us, Turo was a terrible customer experience and just too darn expensive for what we got.

You're at the mercy of whoever you rent from. My brother rented twice. The first time the guy had the car at Dulles. He said he'd pick us up, so we told him we'd arrived and then waited. Then he told us that he'd parked way out at the end of the lot, so we schlepped there. We couldn't find the car for 15 minutes. So that wasn't a great experience. The second time we picked the car up and checked in with a human being. When my brother dropped the car off, on time, he again gave the keys to a human being. The next day he got a charge saying he hadn't returned the car on time, which was a bold-faced lie. It took hours to reverse the charge, and we got nothing for our time. So altogether I'd say it's a mixed experience, and definitely buyer beware.

I had been a happy guest for Turo for several trips, until a recent trip changed my opinion. I had no issues on car damages and always kept the host’s cars clean after use. But we met a host who made a sudden location change and lack of communication issue. After communicating with Turo customer service back and forth through emails, I summarized their host biased policy: 1. If host listed a service that he/she could not provide and did not inform guests before the 2 days before the trip starts, and you checked in the trip, nothing will happen to the host. Turo will just kindly "remind" the host to correct her/his listings for the future. 2. If hosts cancel the trip, they get $25 (more than 24 hours) or $50 (within 24 hours) punishment. If guest cancels the trip within 25 hours before the trip starts, guests pay 0.5 day (<2 days trip) or 1 day’s trip price + half of any delivery fee. For cleaning, disinfecting, airline interruptions, death or hospitalization of family member, natural disaster et al caused issues, you need to call customer service immediately before checking in to get full refund. Toru policy did not say if they will fully refund you if you cancel the booking within 24 hours due to sudden location changes made by the host. 3. Hosts and guests will leave reviews blindly after the trip, but cannot change after reviews are published. Hosts have the privilege to response/comment on guest’s reviews, but you cannot comment back what host said about you as a guest.

I will not recommend them. The vehicle was fine but my daughter gave her name and license as an additional driver. Turo allowed her info to be stolen or hacked. Someone rented a car in her name in another location and failed to return it. They suspended my daughter’s right to drive and failed to rectify the matter. Then my flight time was changed by the airline so I asked for a one hour extension of the drop off. The host initially said Turo advised him to grant us no extensions! He finally agreed to an hour but could not be at the airport. So we Ieft the car locked at the airport as he asked. I used his tiny car vacuum to remove sand my grandkids had brought into the car but the host still complained about sand in the car. This is despite Turo’s instructions that the guest need not worry about sand (from the beaches in Hawaii). So the owner’s complaint must have been prompted by Turo’s false concerns about my daughter. (She is a medical doctor.) After about four hours dealing with the false claim against my daughter and then getting my wife approved as a secondary driver, I asked for some compensation to recognize their responsibility for damaging our vacation time. They offered $25. The car rental was $3,300 for 10 days and I told them this was inadequate. Now they have de-platformed both my daughter and me! No matter. We will never use them again.

As a host (renter), renting out on Turo is profitable ONLY if you know the ropes - only rent out an old low value car. There are many hidden costs to renting out, especially the fact that Turo insurance comes with fine print - all plans except the '60' plan are only good as catastrophic insurance. They don't reimburse you if the guest dents your car or causes scratches smaller than 3 inches. A renter returned my car with 10-20 scratches (each about 0.5 inches), and Turo refused to compensate me for the significant cost to repair ($3000?) because each gash was less than 3 inches! Not worth the $100 I earned for the trip, not to mention the time spent cleaning the car, and inspecting it etc. So it's only worth listing an old $4,000 value car.

I had an issue telling the app I was returning a car early. After speaking to a rep on the phone who assured me I would get my 110$ refund, I found no such refund had arrived. After getting in touch with multiple chat reps, none of whom had any knowledge of what I had told another, they informed me that I was not going to get a refund because my host had denied that I returned early. When I left a review for my trip explaining all of this on the Turo site, it stayed up for about a day before the company deleted it. So beware if a driver has more "trips" than reviews, it could be that the company just deleted any bad ones to save face

Extremely poor customer experience from phone support and host. Hosts car was damaged prior to our rental date and they asked us to swap to another car. Ended up costing us over 60 dollars more which wasn’t disclosed up front. They did the run around of ‘the host needs to fix it call them’ and ‘turo needs to fix it call them’. After over three hours of trying we gave up but we’ll never rent from this company or host again-buyer beware. After over a year of successfully renting from them multiple times they didn’t even offer a good faith credit for a future rental. We’ll use Getaround from now on.

Feels like if I used turo frequently it would only be a matter of time before turo or a vehicle owner would hold me responsible for a vehicle issue or charge me more than the agreed upon amount. The experience is far from confidence inspiring. And the whole process of getting transport to and from a rental vehicle just adds hassle, time, and more costs to the whole process. I think Il probably stick to real car rentals and save myself the trouble before it happens.
