Founded in 1993, SafeAuto is an auto insurance carrier based out of Columbus, Ohio. Jon Diamond and Ari Deshe founded the company, which, to this day, remains privately owned. From the start, the company’s intention has been to provide reasonably priced policies to high-risk clients. The company offers health insurance as well as car insurance plans. While there are a number of beneficial features and services to take advantage of, there are also limitations to the SafeAuto platform.
- Price range
- Coverage features
- No-risk cancellation
- Customer service
For a 27-year-old driving a Toyota Camry without comprehensive and collision plans, the policy starts at $176.00 for the first month and you will continue to make five payments of $182.00. The six-month price can cover up to $30k in bodily injuries and property damage liabilities. Excess medical expenses can go up to $1,000. Uninsured and underinsured motorists with bodily injuries will be covered with up to $30k. The accidental death benefit covers up to $10k. In this particular plan, customers can save $80 by paying for the six-month coverage in full for a total of $1,010. However, SafeAuto strongly recommends both collision and comprehensive for newer cars, so rates will vary according to the customer’s priorities.
- Medical Expense
- Accidental death
SafeAuto will retrieve a former quote for a former client, “remembering” them if they switch insurance companies for several months. This gives you the opportunity to try other companies of similar services temporarily, to make sure that you are, in fact, making the right decision. Auto insurance is not a light matter, so this feature is important—there would be no need to restart the process if you were to decide that SafeAuto offers the plan for you.
Their customer service is of utmost importance to them, available to clients 24/7. Stuck in a rut at 4am? Not to worry, they are available to you at even the strangest hours.
- File/track claims
- Payment methods
- Service coverage
SafeAuto only offers five discounts:
- Deductible Saving Benefit
- Defensive driver
- 12% superior driver or 20% metrewards
- good student
Customers cannot file a claim online; they must phone in to report it. They cannot track claims online either.
If your American Express is your best friend, it is not going to help you in this situation. When it is time to pay for your insurance each month, this might become an issue, as they do not accept them.
As stated in our introduction, Safeco Auto is offered in only 16/50 U.S. states: Arizona, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia. For residents of these sixteen states, a perk would be that they could file claims over the phone 24/7.
