I have recently upgraded the tubs in our house and it was good decision. I have decided to go with this company since it is very well reputed in the market. The tubs i feel it very well designed according to comfort and safety . It has non slippery bath tubs and built from long lasting material so its going to last without need to change it .

Went with American Std even though higher price for lesser product because they were only ones to promise glass door installation. Long story short they subbed it out. Took several weeks later. Salesman meanwhile got fired. Installed smaller liner than promised. All in all don’t go with these shysters

I was needed a good looking and good bathing tub for my newly built apartment. I go through internet and find this company . I find after using that it is well built with good quality material. Their professional team handled the installation and setup process in house , and everything is fitted perfectly in that space.

I have requested more than one time that I get a copy of the contract through the mail because my mom is old school she does not reading emails I have not received I have requested a copy of the owners manual to the mail I have not received. I was told that I needed to replace my hot water heater and add a booster. Valve When filling up my tub tub, I run out of hot water. I am not satisfied.

The Final Word

Safety Features

American Standard and KOHLER walk-in tubs come standard with some of the following safety features, ensuring that you can relax and enjoy your bathing experience in safety:

  • Low-step threshold
  • Wide door
  • Built-in grab bars
  • Anti-slip surfaces
  • Accessible control panel

These safety features come standard with nearly all walk-in tubs available in the industry. Thus, you can rest assured that your walk-in tub will be safe and accessible whether you choose American Standard or KOHLER for your bathing solutions.

Customization Options

Many walk-in tub companies offer similar convenience/therapeutic features to customize the bathing experience — typically all companies offer hydrotherapy, chromotherapy, and aromatherapy options. However, companies may vary in specific jet numbers, jet configurations, chromotherapy color options, etc.

In addition, the format in which consumers can customize their walk-in tub may vary. For example, American Standard offers more than 50 different walk-in tub models that include different features; whereas, KOHLER offers six different types of walk-in tubs that are designed to meet specific needs and can be customized with additional features to meet a customer’s specific needs and preference. For some consumers, the KOHLER customization format may be easier to navigate as it breaks down tub models by type (traditional soaker walk-in tub, air walk-in tub, hydrotherapy walk-in tub, walk-in tub and shower combo, bariatric walk-in tub, and wheelchair accessible walk-in tub) and then allows you to customize accordingly. The American Standard format, on the other hand, may require you to sift through various models instead of designing/customizing your tub; this format may also force you to take and/or leave specific features if none of the models have exactly what you’re looking for.

American Standard offers some of the following convenience/therapeutic features:

  • RevitaJet Whole Body Hydrotherapy System with 44 air and water jets
  • Targeted back, leg, wrist, and foot massaging jets
  • 7-color chromotherapy
  • Built-in aromatherapy
  • Hand-held shower wand

KOHLER offers some of the following convenience/therapeutic features:

  • Hydrotherapy and air jets
  • Bask® heated backrest
  • Extra-wide seat
  • Fast-drain technology
  • Multifunctional handshower
  • LuxStone® bath walls

It’s worth noting that American Standard offers aromatherapy and chromotherapy options, while KOHLER may not offer these customizable options.

Installations

American Standard and KOHLER are both walk-in tub manufacturers, meaning that the companies don’t install bathing solutions themselves. Instead, each company has a network of trusted dealers and installers. While this allows the companies to reach more customers, some areas may not have a local installer, which may make it challenging for some customers to get their American Standard or KOHLER walk-in tub installed.

Warranties

Both American Standard and KOHLER provide lifetime warranties with their walk-in tub products and services.

It’s important to note that American’s Standard’s lifetime warranty only applies to door seals — other bath components have warranty coverage for varying lengths of time.

The KOHLER limited lifetime warranty includes coverage for defects in material and workmanship during normal residential use for as long as you own your home. Some specific components that are included in warranty coverage include, but aren’t limited to, the bath door seal, hydrotherapy systems, and KOHLER faucet and handshower components. It’s worth noting that the warranty isn’t transferable.

States Serviced

Both American Standard and KOHLER have wide state coverage areas, ensuring that more customers have access to their walk-in tub products and services.

American Standard walk-in tubs are available in all states, excluding Alaska, Hawaii, and Washington D.C.

KOHLER walk-in tubs are available in all states, but may be limited in some specific areas.

Our Recommendation

KOHLER is a leading name in the walk-in tub industry with a history that dates back to 1873. While American Standard can’t boast nearly the same amount of time in the industry, it’s become a trusted walk-in tub provider.

Both American Standard and KOHLER offer safe, accessible, and comfortable walk-in tub solutions, featuring a wide range of safety and customizable options. When it comes to choosing a walk-in tub from either company, you may find it easier to get exactly what you’re looking for with KOHLER as the company offers six walk-in tub styles that can be customized according to your needs and preferences. On the other hand, American Standard offers more than 50 walk-in tub models that include varying features, requiring you to filter and search tubs according to specific features, and potentially requiring you to take and/or leave features if you’re unable to find a tub that has everything you need.

American Standard and KOHLER reviews are currently limited on BestCompany.com, so we’re unable to provide an accurate comparison of the companies based on customer sentiment at this time.
