A recent survey found that an average of 8.7 minutes is wasted getting conference calls started and participants correctly dialed-in. Whether you are on-time or the person everyone is waiting for, this feels like 100 minutes. Normally, conference calls and virtual meetings require call-in numbers to be dialed, then passcodes, and with some services, a verification number that has to be correctly dialed.

MobileDay, from Colorado-based tech company Twine, is a mobile app for Android and iOS devices that helps users easily join conference calls to cut down on wasted time.

The platform offers two basic options:

MobileDay Basic: Free version: Users can make up to 10 one-touch calls per month

  • Notifications for upcoming meetings
  • Human-validated dial-in sequences
  • Rejoin dropped calls with a single tap
  • Email the group if you are running late with a pre-set message
  • Meetings can be scheduled in the app, with your conference access info already set up

MobileDay Business: $14 per month with an annual subscription, 2-week free trial,  premium customer support

  • 500 push minutes
  • 500 Wi-Fi minutes
  • Web-based user dashboard and usage reports
  • Add 500 more minutes for just $1.50
  • Dial in on the app, then transfer to desk phone
  • Wi-Fi calling options to up in-call audio quality if you have poor reception (and to save on international calls)
  • Business dashboard to view call data and track service usage

The Good

  • Simple and Free solution
  • Sync Options
  • Human Verification
  • Flight Integration

Simple and Free

While MobileDay wasn’t always a free app, basic users can use the app for up to 10 conference calls per month for free. From there, it is a $14.99 fee, per user, per month, billed annually.

The dialing-in process is really simple. Additionally, conference members whose calls are dropped (a common conference call occurrence) can re-join the meeting with a single touch as well.

Sync Options

This product is not just a conference dialing app. It can sync with your calendars and meeting invitations. This means that the application can send you notifications prior to upcoming conference calls and virtual meetings, as well as help you to easily join calls with one touch.

Airline Integration

Users can benefit from putting upcoming flights into their calendar. This feature helps users with automatic dialing the airline’s customer care if there are any questions or concerns.

The Bad

Integrations

  • Bluejeans
  • Facetime
  • Google Hangouts
  • GoToMeeting
  • Join.me
  • Lync
  • Readytalk
  • Skype for Business
  • Webex
  • Slack is coming soon

The Bottom Line

MobileDay is not a fully-fledged VoIP provider. It does offer employees easy access to conference calls as well as a reminder for your upcoming meeting or event. You can easily join a meeting, whether you are in the office or out and about. Calling options are versatile, especially for businesses that subscribe. The service allows customers to use Wi-Fi or network calling via their mobile phone, or quickly transfer the call to a desk phone, if cell or Wi-Fi service isn’t adequate.

This is a great idea to help companies and users save time; however, we wish the technology was available for more conferencing platforms.
