RingCentral has really good products and I would recommend them I would say the only real con for me is that you never get anybody who speaks very good English and it can be very hard to understand people on the phone. They have pretty good pricing and their packages seem well put together.I would definitely recommend working with them, but just knowing upfront that it might be hard to understand them.

The VOIP is nice because allows you to make voice calls using a broadband Internet connection instead of a regular (or analog) phone line. The prices were also fair and reasonable. I just didn't find it personally useful for me.

This is a deeply unethical company with a barely-passable service and bad customer service. The configuration user interface of the product is hideous and trapped in a 640x480 world while everyone else has moved on to responsive webpages. Technical support is virtually non-existent and the technology and reporting lags behind most of their competitors. Once you sign up, you are basically forgotten. Four years later, I cancel and attempt to leave for a better and less-expensive service, and they spring over $2400 of early termination fees because "I didn't terminate on my anniversary date". This being based upon hidden terms buried on a terms/conditions page that isn't referenced ever during the month-to-month renewals. Run away from these guys.

The Final Word

RingCentral’s basic features for 2–20 users include unlimited phone calls and SMS messages within the United States and Canada, toll-free or local number, 100 toll-free minutes per month, voicemail to text, with 12 other features. Additional features are added as you move up to the premium plans.

8x8 offers similar features in its basic service plan for companies needing lines for more than 1,000 users. Pricing for small businesses needing 1–99 lines starts at $28 per user per month. This plan includes unlimited calling within 14 countries, auto-attendant, mobile and desktop apps, team messaging, and more. While the price is slightly lower than RingCentral, 8x8 is only ideal if you run a large corporation. RingCentral doesn’t cost much more and offers features that are ideal for a smaller company while also providing the support a larger corporation may need.

While RingCentral does not require a contract, customers can get a discount when signing up for a multi-year contract. The upside to no contract is that there will be no early termination fees or cancellation fees if you decide to switch. 8x8 requires at least a 12–month contract when signing up for its VoIP services which can turn some people away.

Overall, both companies offer a wide variety of services and competitive pricing. After some research, we have come to the conclusion that RingCentral offers affordable pricing and services for both small and large companies. 8x8 tends to cater to those in large corporations. Per Best Company ranking, 8x8 currently does not rank among VoIP providers while RingCentral scores within the top five. After a thorough comparison, RingCentral takes the lead with competitive pricing, a vast number of features for both small and large companies, and no contract required.
