CallHippo is a VoIP and phone number provider for small to enterprise-level businesses. Using cloud technology, users can get business phone numbers and make calls to countries around the world, as long as an internet connection is available.

This is meant as a replacement for the traditional office desk phones commonly found in most offices. Rather than working with your existing hardware, CallHippo works with softphone technology through a web and mobile app.

Companies can get virtual phone numbers from over 50 countries, local or toll-free, including the U.S., U.K., and many others. Pricing is based on a monthly service fee, plus fees dependent on where you are calling from and calling to.

The Good

  • Setup
  • Annual Billing
  • CRM Integrations

Setup

CallHippo can be set up in less than three minutes. The faster the setup, the faster you can be using your new phone service. This is definitely a plus for companies that don’t employ a full-time IT professional.

Annual Billing

Annual billing decreases your monthly price, as well as initial calling charges; however, it is great that both options are still available, so companies aren’t stuck with an annual contract if their situation doesn’t warrant it.

CRM Integrations

Call Hippo’s phone systems and software can be integrated with several leading software Customer Relationship Management (CRM) platforms to help your employees save time. Integration also helps your team provide a better, smoother experience to clients. These integration options include the following:

  • Pipedrive
  • Zoho
  • Freshdesk
  • Zendesk
  • Slack
  • Intercom
  • Zapier
  • WakeupSales

The Bad

  • Metered Calling
  • Deskphone
  • Tiered Customer Support

Metered Calling

While many service providers offer unlimited calling plans, CallHippo does not. If a business makes a high volume of international calls, then their price may be too expensive. This type of business may be better served with a service provider offering a pricing plan with unlimited minutes.

Incoming and outgoing call rates differ depending on where you are located, whether the call is inbound or outbound, and what country you are calling, or is calling you. These rates are available on the CallHippo website.

Deskphone

CallHippo is a business phone service meant to replace traditional phone service as well as traditional work hardware. While this is a great way to help create virtual offices, save money on phone equipment, as well as your phone bill, some users may be resistant to letting their desk phones go.

To clarify, CallHippo does provide integrations with specific SIP phones, but not just any phone. You will have to provide model numbers of your phones to the support team to check.

Tiered Customer Support

When it comes to customer service, users can email with CallHippo for help. Beyond that, customer support is tiered, along with the calling plans. Only the Silver and Platinum users are eligible for phone support.

The Bottom Line

CallHippo is a low-cost VoIP solution for business communication. International calling is made easier. You can even buy local and toll-free phone numbers quickly, within minutes. Business owners can set up and start making or receiving calls rather quickly.

Product features allow callers to be greeted by a virtual receptionist, or an automated call tree to be forwarded to the proper department. If a user is already on the phone, missed calls can be sent to voicemail. Then, that user can receive via push notification or email, so they don’t have to hunt through a standard voicemail system.

This will be a good fit for the small business owner looking to find a communication alternative with low costs and wide functionality, depending on which countries need to be contacted regularly.
