They have held on to the loan and not sold it. That is what we appropriate most. We had an experience previous to Greatlakes where a company sold the loan just after we paid all the yearly interest and the next company calculated interested differently and we had to pay it twice. It was such a scam. But GL has hung on to it. So as far as horrible student loans go, these guys get a thumbs up.

I used Great Lakes for some of my loans and have a somewhat reasonable interest rate. The only downside is that I’ve had a few customer service and online service issues.
