They have held on to the loan and not sold it. That is what we appropriate most. We had an experience previous to Greatlakes where a company sold the loan just after we paid all the yearly interest and the next company calculated interested differently and we had to pay it twice. It was such a scam. But GL has hung on to it. So as far as horrible student loans go, these guys get a thumbs up.

I had a student loan through Great Lakes and it was easy to set up, with little fees up front. I didn't have to start paying until after graduation and then they set up a repayment plan that fit my budget at the time and then increased over time. Easy to make the payments and it has worked great for me.

I have been paying my student loans since i graduated in 2012. I got one year of deffered payments then they started charging me a lot a month. It seems that i can keep making my monthly payments but the intrest is so high it barly makes a dent. It is pretty sad considering i went to school just to be in debt with this for 10 years they don't really try to work with you if you make "too much money".
