The Good

  • No subscription
  • Perks and rewards
  • Rent or purchase

No Subscriptions

Fandango Now offers a streaming movie and TV service with no subscription. Customers simply watch what they want when they want. Users may also purchase a Fandango gift card that may be used towards movie tickets or the streaming service.

Large Movie and TV Library

There is over 6,500 movies and TV shows available to watch through Fandango Now. Some movies have bonus content, which might include director's commentary.  Many are fresh out of theatres and are cheaper to stream rather than purchasing movies on DVD and Blu-ray. The streaming service is simple to use with smart TVs or the Fandango app.

Rent or Own

Customers can rent or purchase movies and TV episodes through Fandango Now.

Reward Points

With Fandango VIP, Fandango Now allows customers to earn reward points when renting or buying movies and TV episodes. Fandango VIP members unlock a reward for every 600 points earned. Members can get movie tickets to theatres, credit to stream on Fandango Now with the mobile app, or FanShop movie gear.

Fandango Now has many great features to their new services. Not only do customers not pay a monthly subscription, but their rental and purchase prices are reasonable and consistent with the industry. In addition, Fandango Now's selection of movies and TV episodes is extremely large for how new their services are.  Customers can choose from over 6,500 movies and TV shows.

The Bad

  • No unlimited streaming options
  • Not as many device options
  • No parental controls

No Unlimited Streaming

Because FandangoNow doesn't offer a subscription-based streaming TV package, customers have to rent or purchase every movie or TV episode they want to watch.  They don't have unlimited access to a large library like Netflix or Amazon Prime.

Not as Many Streaming Device Options

FandangoNow doesn't stream on as many devices as some of its competitors.  They don't support the Apple TV, XBox, PlayStation or PlayStation Vue, etc.  Fandango Now does run on all web browsers and as a mobile app, but not many streaming devices.

UltraViolet Account

Customers have to create an UltraViolet account and link it with their Fandango Now account in order to access and watch movies from the cloud.

No Parental Controls

FandangoNow does not have parental controls for their customers to use for movie and TV purchase and rentals. Overall, FandangoNow has a few drawbacks customers should be aware of before they start purchasing and renting movies and TV episodes.  The main concern is that Fandango Now is not available on a large variety of streaming devices.  If you stream movies and TV through an Apple TV, XBox, or Playstation you are out of luck for now.

The Bottom Line

FandangoNow is a great new on-demand video streaming service option, providing customers with the ability to earn reward points through movie and TV purchase and rentals.  Reward points can then be redeemed for a percentage off the customer's next purchase.  In addition, FandangoNow has a very large library and selection for customers to choose from, with over 6,500 movies and TV episodes. However, FandangoNow is limited in their streaming services due to the lack of devices customers can stream on.  FandangoNow works on Samsung, Vizio, and LQ smart TVs 2011 and older, also Roku and Chromecast.  But it doesn't work on the Apple TV, XBox, or Playstation.  And customers have to create an UltraViolet and link it with their FandangoNow account in order to access and watch purchased and rented movies and TV episodes. Overall, Fandango Now is a great service for people not wanting a subscription-based streaming tv service and who have a Roku, Chromecast, or Smart TV.

Pros: Has the ability to log into your ultraviolet account (myuv.com). I'm not sure why some of these reviews place this as a bad thing, but VUDU has it as well. The advantage is that some users who can not watch UHD/HDR on VUDU, can do so on Fandango with the myuv account. The best part about that is, if you bought a HDX movie from VUDU and want to watch UHD/HDR, you can log into you myvu account on Fandango and purchase the UHD/HDR version of the movie, with a $9.99 discount, and dont have to pay the full price. If you already bought the UHD version on VUDU it will already be available on Fandango when you log into you myuv.com account, no need to buy it again. Cons: Limited devices, definitely a huge downside. Only users who has a LG, Samsung or Roku 4k device can watch 4K Ultra and HDR movies. Other down side for me is the UX (User Experience) and the UI (User Interface). Its very very sluggish, there are no filter features. I can't sort by recently purchase or by genre in some categories. It also takes forever to load up the Details Screen for a movie I choose. I'm not sure why, but, when i'm watching a movie, I keep seeing the loading icon in the middle of the screen. I'm assuming its buffering, cause once it stops the movie will speed up go on mute then try to sync up. Huge mess. My mbps is 100+ download and 10mbps upload. So I shouldn't be experiencing that. Overall: I like the fact that I can watch my 4K ultra movies and HDR movies from VUDU (when it works), since for whatever reason vudu doesn't support 4K on my LG OLED 65" .(65EG9600-UB)

This is a very confusing App. I feel it is very over priced and leads me guessing to what I am doing. I usually end up needing help from one of my kids. Over priced as well. Lots of fees.

Used this service for a brief time before amazon prime TV/Movie was popular. We liked it while we used it. But once Amazon Prime offered more stuff we made the switch there since we were already Prime customers

I don’t use Fandango anymore because there aren’t enough benefits. Their fees aren’t worth it and its not easy to navigate online.
