Many unanswered questions up to the date of installation and still unanswered now. The biggest question is the monthly fees ?????? and now i hear it will be 250/month when my electric bill prior to installation is 269.71, 3/1/2021. Also mentioned the whole time was that there would be Tesla batteries now to be told that the Tesla batteries are backup and that LG's are available which was not what we agreed on and given the track record of promises I will not have them installed and wait till Tesla are available. the system has been installed and unless these questions are resolved I will not not be permitted it to be activated. I would appreciate it if someone reviewing my account and get back to me shortly. Thanks Carlo

I've had Vivint solar for about two years now. I first heard of them from my father-in-law who said good things about them. strangely enough they showed up at my house a week later. At first I declined, but then after hearing my father-in-law boast about them more I decided to give it a try. It did take a while for them to get things going. We did not have to pay for the solar panels or installment. They did fix our roof for putting the solar panels in and all for free. The upside is the salesperson told us that if we did the PPA and that not only would we get the solar panel, roof repair for free we would only have to pay for the power that we used. Sounds great right? I did a little bit of research before we signed the contract, of course nothing is ever completely free or if it is there is something hidden behind it. After doing a little bit of research, I found out that some of these solar companies that give their solar panels for "free" put a lien on your home. There was nothing in the contract that said outright anything about a lean, but there was a particular part of the contract "fixture filing" or a "UCC 1,2,3". The salesperson kept reassuring me that they would not put a lien on my home. so I decided to bring the contract to my mortgage company and have them take a look at it. They confirmed to me that these terms are putting a lien on my home. After I brought the back to Vivint solar, they still kept insisting that this wasn't a lien on the home that it was just security. When a homeowner leases a solar panel system from a TPO or goes through a PPA, the owner of that solar panel system files a UCC-1 financing statement to show that they are the true owners of the property that is the system. This would prevent the bank from claiming the solar system as part of the homeowner's property. If a homeowner chooses to refianance their home they will need to pay off the solar loan otherwise your chance for refinancing may not be possible. I didn't know the extent of the few statements that are above, so I went with the salesperson and decided to go through solor with Vivint. Literally nothing came out of my pocket with the solar installments and the roof repair and I just couldn't pass up a good deal, but after having Vivint solar for two years I realized their customer service is horrible. Not only that my energy bill hadn't changed much at all. At sometimes my bill was higher than it was before having to pay Vivint and SDG& E. And then when we decided to refinance we did find out that Vivint solar put a lien on our home. We were still able to refinance but it pushed the process back because we had to take the lean off our home because of Vivint solar. I called to complain to Vivint solar and told them to tell them they were liars, but it took so long to try to get a hold of anybody and I had so much going on that I ended up giving up. I have friends with solar and they tell me they don't pay any thing for energy because their panels produce enough energy and they questioned why I was still paying so much. The way Vivint explained it to me was that my solar panels weren't producing enough. But on weeks where the sun was blazing on my solar panels it wasn't producing enough? I just don't get it and I regret getting solar from Vivint solar. Don't make the mistakes that I made and go do your research and find the best company that works for you.

We have had the panels for over 2 years and for the most of that times things have been going smoothly until May. I noticed in July that our power generation had been going down since April by half by June. I contacted Vivint and they discovered that half of my panels werent working. They came and fixed them by the end of July. So from about half of May, all do June and all of July I wasnt sending any power back to the power grid since its summer and hot we were using all that was being generated. I called yesterday when I didnt get any response to my email sent last week about how I am already being charged for power because of not all of the panels not work. I was told that Vivint doesnt guarantee how much power the panels generate so I wont be compensated for the power I am now and more than likely will pay during the winter. They also said they wouldnt compensate me because some of my panels were working. I have a problem with that since they can look at last years generation number and see how much I did send back to the grid and compensate me. If I was a new customer it would be harder but we have been using them for over 2 years, this is our 3rd summer so there is record of how much we use and how much is sent to the grid. So yes up front they are great but when there is a problem they screw you over.

Vivint Solar - I have had Solar Panels for a number of years that were provided by Vivint Solar. I was extremely happy on the front end of the transaction. They were nice and quickly set-up my panels. One of the key drivers was that for low cost they would remove, store and put back in place your panels if their was ever a need (i.e. Roof Repair). I thought this is a no brainer... lower electric cost, help the environment, and with little down side. Fast Forward to my roof needing repair... I have called repeated time to try and schedule an appointment, in fact, I am on hold as I type, going on 2 hours now. Now I will say there was a person available to take my money for the appointment. They were very available and free at that point. Then they passed me on to scheduling... I have been on hold for back to back days of at least 2-3 hours and still nothing. I have tried a number of different ways to contact them, Phone, E-mail, Live Chat. I even left a note for the CEO on the Vivint site, still nothing. I would be very very very afraid of entering into the 20 year contract they sell you. Buyer beware. They are non-responsive. I will need to hire a lawyer to get them to do what is in their contract. What a shame they made what I thought was a great idea and have become another non-customer focused company. Sell their goods and disappear

I’ve now survived my 2nd true up bill from Pacific Gas & Electric. I believe my 1st one last year was around $1200 which I was shocked at. Just last week paid the 2nd true up bill, it was wait for it, $2495.10!! I’ve sent 3 emails as I want responses in writing to Vivint and still no response. I want something done, corrected, changed or removed and can get no response. I’m in hopes by placing my frustration here someone from Vivint will write me back. I’m so mad at this, I don’t know how many times I told our smooth talking sales rep that if it sounds too good to be true it always is!! Very dissatisfied customer.

My solar did not generate any energy for over a month and the head office did pick up on it and someone came and look at without me even asked for it. However the guy told me that there is some connection issue and they could not read my solar from their end and he will get someone to look at it but the system is working fine. After about 3 weeks from that day I did notice on the app that it's not generating so I called Vivint and was told that nobody report it, I ask to person I spoke about when the solar stop work and it was way before the person from the head office came and look at it. So I was lied to no surprise there. Four, five days later a technician came and replaced the box(whatever it's name is) and confirmed that it stop generating for nearly 2 months and told me to called customer service and they will credit my bill for that time.

I am in the process of initiating PPA service. The install is in the permitting process. So, I have time to back out. However, I don't want to back out. Also, These reviews do not provide me with the high confidence I need for a project of this nature. I read the contract and it seems to penalize the customer for issues that are out of the customer's control. It also does not seem to penalize Vivint properly and accordingly for issues that arise that are in Vivint's control. This needs to be corrected. Penalizing me for non-production of power when I have nothing to do with the install or operation of the system I find troubling. Repair the thing, in a timely fashion and don't charge me for a malfunction that is squarely under your control. I also wonder if Vivint has made the necessary corrections to improve customer satisfaction. All Vivint's employees need to read all of these reviews and take them to heart. Beef up and properly train your customer service department. One last thing: what if this was your house that Vivint was providing service for. How would you want Vivint to treat you? Thank you

We purchased a home that had just recently been outfitted with Vivint Solar Panels. During the process of closing on the home loan we were informed (by our realtor) that we would need to have the solar contract reassigned to us. This was literally days before we were to close. The previous owner led us to believe it was just part of the home sale. (Not Vivint's fault) However, we also later learned that Vivint had been notified of the sale of the home by our real estate agent. In the rush to get the loan closed and due to our total lack of knowledge regarding solar systems and the contracts that go with them, we requested the paperwork to complete the process. AT NO TIME did Vivint offer to provide us with a detailed overview and explanation of the contract terms for what I later learned was a "lease" not even a purchase. We blindly and hastily signed the necessary paperwork, something I regret deeply now and in hindsight AFTER finally getting a copy of the formal contract. When I read it I felt like the biggest sucker on the planet. It's a 20 year lease, the payments started at about $120 per month, but they increase every year by 3%. Do the math and see how much my power bill will be in 20 years...when I'm retired and living on a fixed income and the panels are less effective due to age. I take responsibility for not demanding more transparency on Vivint's part but I also feel Vivint had no interest in being proactive in letting me know what I was signing up for during a very hectic and busy time as we were closing on a home loan. In hindsight, I would never have signed those documents and likely not purchased the home. If I was going to get solar panels I would have done a purchase agreement, not a lease. I contacted Vivint after reading the lease agreement. I explained the situation. I acknowledged my fault in signing the agreement but also explaining that I felt I was misinformed and not given the information I needed to be informed until after the fact. The man on the phone was very curt and basically said too bad, but not in those words. I asked if it would be possible to change my contract to a purchase agreement rather than a lease. He put me on hold and when he came back he said I could purchase the agreement for $75,000. At that point I just hung up. My experience with Vivint has been less than satisfactory and my only interactions with personnel were not pleasant. Their lease agreements are not advantageous to the customer. You get none of the tax benefits. You can't participate in any of the government rebate programs and you don't get the benefit of selling your excess power production back to the grid. You're stuck with a payment that gradually increases every year for 20 years. I don't know what happens after that. A new roof I guess. I can not, in good conscience recommend Vivint for solar power. They have been sued by numerous states for deceptive sales practices by their door to door sales people and have settled most of them out of court so as to keep the details out of public view. But if you dig, you can find enough to dissuade you. I had hoped to at least have the opportunity to change my situation, knowing I am stuck in a contract with no recourse unless a class action suit is brought by other customers in the state of Utah. That's likely not going to happen because Vivint is a Utah company and I'm sure has many friends and allies up on the hill at the state capital. All I can do is share my honest frustrations in a review based on my own experience. I wish Vivint was more transparent and actually cared more about the customer. I'm sure they have some happy customers. Had I been treated differently and my situation handled better from the beginning I would be one too. I'll never know. I'm stuck in what appears to be a no-win situation.

I made a mistake getting Vivint Solar!!! Your customer service is horrendous. I discovered that my solar system was not working at all when I received a bill from my power co. When I first got Vivint Solar I received a call or alert if something was wrong with my system but apparently that doesn’t happen any more. (Apparently my system stopped working in December). When I discovered there was an issue (early February) I contacted you only to be told that I would have to wait almost 1 month for someone to fix my system ( March 5, 2019) then. I received my most recent power bill from my power company for over $300.00! How can you remain in business if the very thing that you are getting paid for from me is the electricity that is generated from my system? How can you tell how much electricity the solar panels are generating to bill me but not contact me if they are not working?? I would think that would be an issue for any business. I think those who own this company have gotten out of touch with their company horrible customer service. Maybe you should go on Secret Boss or Undercover Boss Again. This time focus on Solar. Based on My experience your company’s Customer Service is the Worst!!!! Apple Great, DirecTV Great, VW Great, even Microsoft and my local DMV has better customer service than your company (and that’s saying something). If there is any consolation I think you are just above the VA! The last time my system worked according to your website was March 5th, 2019 it generated 14.2961 kWh, that was when the system was serviced. What is the problem? Why isn’t it working properly? I have very little hope that this email will be returned in a timely fashion (It never has been before). I think that it will be a week at least before I get a response. But I dare you to prove me wrong. I’m guessing that no one will get to service me before 20th of April or early May...but prove me wrong, I dare you. I have had an exposed plastic tube from the roof (I’m guessing it contains wires) since FallOf 2018. I sent an email regarding this with pictures and it hasn’t be fixed yet. Prove Me Wrong... When we spoke with the Vivint rep we discussed a purchase and lease and decided to go with the purchase. The rep told us any time we wanted the panels cleaned just give them a call. A date was set for the install. The employees showed up a few days later and began to install the system. The second day the installer had me sign the paperwork for the installation, later I found out it was for a lease. A few days later I received call from Vivint telling me the rep will be coming my residence to discuss the system. He never showed up. My wife called Vivint recently to have the panels cleaned and she was told "we don't do that". After the install screws and clamps have been falling off my roof and we had one tile fall from the edge of the roof as well.

This company has serious issues with follow through! I have been waiting since the panels were installed on my roof in September, 2017. As of mid March, 2018, the system has not been turned on. This company is run by children. All they can do is point the finger at someone else. It is either the City Inspector or PG &E that is causing the delay. COME ON, MAN, and take ownership of your failures to deliver! At least then I would respect you. I cannot recommend this company to anyone at this time. They need to grow up and act like adults. I had such high hopes as the initial sales person was most excellent in his communication skills but his company let him (and me) down.

Company is terrible at repairing your system once you buy it. Been calling several times a week to get a repair person to my house, took 2 months.... He came late after dark and said I cant make a full assessment you need to reschedule, I did next appointment available 2 month wait again with no panels! I call several times speak to supervisors they cant even get anyone in to service my system that is suppose to be maintained by them. They dont care because guess what I bought the system and fianced it, so now they have no need to fix it fats they already got their money. Freaking joke between what the sales person says and what really happens in the company. The best kicker is that this is $37,000 system installed in april 2017 and system broke in July/August 2017. Now its Jan 2018 and still broken, this company sucks wish I went with almost anyone else. Thanks for nothing Vivint

There customer service is awful. When system was installed I was informed that the system was monitored I did not have to do anything I get an email notifying me what the bill is and it is automatically withdrawn from my account. I just happen to log into my account and apparently for the last 6 months my system has not been communicating so they have been sending me an estimated bill for 6 months never notified me and the supervisor told me that they don't have the resources to have anyone monitor the systems and its on me to basically check if my system is communicating with them as it is still producing but if it does not who knows if they monitor that either. So beware as they will not monitor and do not monitor there products they solely let the computers monitor but no human to monitor the computer insane

I currently am trying to work with Vivent but have found them to be less than responsive. We began our Odyssey in February and the installation and city approval went great. Unfortunately an issue arose in the paperwork Vivent supplied and Edison sent it back to Vivent for corrections. That was approx. 3 months ago. I have endless E-mails telling me the exact same thing for three months. Lots of E-mails not responded to when I asked questions, have had to call the company several times and still unable to turn on the Solar. I am sure now that summer is over and I have had 3 months of bills for $500-$600.00 each Vivent might think about fixing their error and I may see Solar before I die

We have had nothing but problems with this company. Our system frequently malfunctions and as a result is not producing energy. , resulting in high bills with PG&E as well as with Vivant. These bill combined are higher than we ever paid with PG&E . Calls to the company and promises of bill adjustment, better service etc. are never acted on. When they send a technician to look at our system it fails to correct the problems. As far as I am concerned it is a rip off and I plan to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. When they come to your door trying to sign you up for Vivant Solar close the door as quickly as possible!

INVOICING Vivint Solar is no longer sending invoices to their customers despite the fact their contract specifically obligates Vivint to do so. Section 2.C of the contract reads in part, "We will send You an invoice reflecting the charges for Energy produced by the System in the previous month." Prior to January 1, 2016 Vivint would send the customer an email containing a link to their monthly invoice. Clicking the link brought the invoice on screen to be viewed, printed, or saved. Subsequent to January 1, 2016, Vivint has neither sent an invoice nor an email containing a link to the customer's invoice. Emails to Vivint regarding this breach of contract have gone unanswered. A call to Vivint's billing department, answered by a bubblehead named Tiffany, regarding this issue was met with the explanation, "Oh, we've redefined the word 'send'. It's all perfectly legal." Seriously? My contract STILL reads, "We will send You an invoice..."

We sold our home in early June 2016. All transfer paperwork was completed and submitted to the company in early May 2016. I assumed all the proper transfers had taken place until I received a full bill in July 2016. After many phone calls and significant hold times I was told they had not even set up an account with the new owners of the home. They assured me they would reconcile the billling but also told me it would be up to me to request a refund if they overcharged me. Why would I need to prove I made a payment! Seems like they have a lousy accounting system. I am crossing my fingers and hoping this gets resolved, but I would steer clear of this company. There are too many other options out there.

Hi Vivint, so here it goes... On May 21 -Sales rep Jake visited my wife and I. He did a great job discussing our options and we decided to go Vivint. June 5 -The initial survey was done by a great tech, checked all roof sections on a 90' day, not a peep. July 15 -Our install was scheduled. Electricians say "they cant do anything because because they couldn't install the inverter where they want it", and didn't have parts to run wire through porch roof, so we need to reschedule. My panicked wife called me, I spoke with them over phone, and asked to at least installed panels and said they would. Panels were hung with nothing else done. Aug 22 -3 electrician's vans returned to finish install, but their vendor sent them the wrong part. I went out and bought three options from a local supply, and they used one for the install. To complete the install. Place system in stand-by until inspected. Sept 1 -A Vivint electrical inspector showed up unannounced. He observed the install from the ground using binoculars and said the inspection failed due to "loose wires" under the panels. He never set foot on the roof. Oct 13 -Since we hadn't seen or heard from any Vivint techs or inspectors for weeks I contacted Vivint customer service to check the status of our systems install. The CS rep told me our system was already on-line. I replied that "if it's online then why does the control panel read "Stand-by?" The after waiting on hold I was told our system had just been turned on. We have been happy since getting the system up and running, and have referred people to get panels, but it seems as they are hesitant seeing how our experience went waiting almost five months. We will continue to praise Vivint, based solely on the number of texts and emails we've exchanged with SR Jake, who confidently reassured us everything would work out just fine. Thanks, Dan O'Neil Shirley, Ma

We were so excited to get our solar and start saving money. 9 months after installation we still had no service. They dropped the ball after the installation with the certificates and getting Edison involved. I called them 2 to 3 times a week and still no service. I finally started bugging them on the phone every day. After a few months of no service, I wanted to cancel my service an told them to come get the panels off the roof but they said I signed the contract and couldn't cancel. So we were stuck. They'd tell me they were coming to the house to do something and they wouldn't show after I had been sitting there waiting for hours. Panels installed in September......service not connected until July. All's been good with the Edison electric bill very low prices. 6 or 12 dollars a month. Been paying the solar company $150-200 a month. 1/2 of what we paid before solar. Then at the end of the year Edison sends a big bill for $3000+. Come to find out the solar company didn't have us plugged into the Internet for Edison. No clue what that meant. So now we are fixing that. They say will reimburse us for that mistake. They came back out to the house and hooked us back up to wifi. What a mess. Hopefully we will get it going correctly for this next year. Very agrivating and frustrating. If I had it to do over again I would go with solar city.

Had panels removed 7 months ago because new roof was going to be imstalled. 3 months ago installers came and started reinstalling panel got half done before they said not enough materials to finish. They said they would be back in two days. They never came back. Here I sit with no solar energy. I think there’s a breach of contract. They need to compensate me. Or remove all the panels and repair the roof

Still paying the power company in addition to Vivint. I’ve had the panels for about 2 year now. I had to repair my roof and they charged me $2000 to temporarily remove the panels. 25% the cost of the roof. No way for me to get out of the lease. Their customer service was helpful and is the only reason I didn’t give them a 1 star. What a rip off Jeramiah

The installation was done quickly and went smoothly. However, I was told that the inspectors will be coming over in a week or 2, But it has been almost 3 months, and nothing has happened since the install. I have texted my sales agent, Matt L, and he said he will find out what's going on. I haven't heard back from him. I would appreciate if someone got back to me about updates on this.

I have viewed the panels on my roof in they look as though they would done correctly! However I am totally disappointed that they are non functional. I did not know and what's not told that I must wait for two different inspections until they begin to work . I assumed that it would work the day they were installed! I don't think it's right to install the product in then inform me after the fact that I need 2 more inspections and that I must wait to to 6 weeks longer. I don't like surprises like that, especially since I was excited to cut my bill down immediately and not have to wait longer

I'd like to know why every month my billing statement is dated around the 5th of the month and it takes roughly 5 days or more for an email to travel to my house with the bill? That only leaves me less then 10 days to get the bill, write the check and for the check to travel to the west coast by the 20th of the month. Every other business gives me almost three weeks. I think it's time for me to file a complaint with the BBB... I've called the customer service Dept and got nothing but Blah Blah Blah

I have had Vivint for about a year. When i signed up for it, i told them i will be replacing my roof the follow year. i wanted to wait before buying the solar system. I asked how much it would cost to take the panels off if i needed to redo the roof. I was told $500 to $1000, then i decided to buy. Now that i want to change the roof they are telling me $2000 to remove and install. I made a big mistake dealing with Vivint, Wish i could just take the solar off , it costing me more than i will ever save! Don;t let the salesmen sweet talk you because the words are not trusted.

Had solar installed 2years ago, first year was good, then the inverter developed a leak and failed, took them 4 months to finally replace the part, then something else failed and have been waiting for them to fix this problem. So, for the last year hasn’t functioned. Considering having them remove the system, and have them replace my roof and repair the siding behind the inverter.

It is hard to get this system up and running. Setting up for billing and account verification always failed. Account cannnot be found in the system. And no contact with customer on why or how the account has not been set up yet. I think the customer service is not as good as they could be. And it took forever to get the solar system turned on.

They don't tell you the money you save each month. Keep saying its throughout the year. During the summer my bill has been $280 when the winter its been $70. The sales men told me the more I generate the more I'll save. Needs to explain that more. And for the bill you get. If you pay for it in advance they still ding you on the date it was due. Won't give you the money back. Still cheaper then paying PGE that's why the 5

Customer Service is not in the realm of their business model. When I tried to get an answer to something, I was forwarded to the sales rep. He had all of the answers when he was selling. Now he said to check with Pacific Gas & Electric. They have no concern for the customers they have installed. I have had two service contacts by them. They cannot tell me what the problem is or why they are out to my house. Nobody wants to talk to me the customer. I would not recommend.

Horrible service once the panels were installed. Was on hold for 54 minutes waiting for a response from the service team and when I did get a response, I was told it would be 23 days before they could get someone out to repair the data reporting system. We are paying as much as we did on budget billing with BGE because our bill is arbitrarily decided on, and increases significantly each month, because the data reporting is not working correctly.

Our salesman was great and always communicated with us. HOWEVER....the rest was a nightmare as well. From taking a full 6 months to get it working...it was ready in May and paperwork to page did not get to them until August. Although it was turned on by Vivint in May and I believed it was done...imagine my surprise when I have a regular pge bill. Vivint refused to help with that bill stating they put a new panel in for us. That's how they sold it so they weren't doing me a special favor. So we will just how much money we will actually save.

I was shopping for Solar last year and these guys by far were the pushiest. They wanted me to go Solar the day they showed me their proposal for rooftop Solar and I wanted to take my time. 48k for a system is something you don't rush to judgement on. I needed to take my time and be completely confident in my decision. After what seemed like hours of " let me think about it" the salesman relented and said that my pricing was good for only 48hrs. In 48 hrs I got more marketing from them then you can imagine and half of it wasn't even about solar. That was a big disappointment that cost them the sale.

Installation took out some items in my house. Main concern being frying my HVAC system. I am still waiting for resolution. Electrician that showed up was very helpful, and recommended an HVAC specialist to continue to troubleshoot.

If I could give them zero stars I would. Their customer service is deplorable. The keep you in their hamster wheel hoping if they ignore you for long enough you will just go away. Over 2hr wait times just to speak to a representative and they ignore your emails. If you are considering Vivint for anything, RUN!!

I met with a salesman today and was talked into getting the solar. I decided to do some research online and I'm very happy I did, I do not think I will be going with this company. They seem to not have a very good post installment relationship.

Once equipment was installed it took two months to get it activated. They do not send bills on time, but give you a hard time if you don't pay on time. They prefer deduction directly from your account rather than Bill. If given a choice, I would not recommend Vivint Solar to my worst enemy, and definitely not a friend or relative.

Hello. When I called for support, I was on hold for over 30 minutes. Then the woman that helped me was aggressive & rude. She hung on me after I consistently kept asking for a supervisor. She refused to answer my general questions or send me to some one that could. There are better companies out there.

The sales rep was nice. It took forever to get the approvals. The first year when we compared the bills it seemed like we saved about $5o a month, Ok.... then we were getting calls that they had to fix something. Multiple service appointments. And now there is no savings at all to the bill,

I have been waiting since March for solar service. They have a consistent problem with paperwork and communication within. This company is way to slow in profiding decent customer service. If I could go back I would not choose this company for my solar needs. The reason they got two stars is that the contact people have been polite.

The up front agreement and installation was great, even the inspection was within reasonable timeframes. However, the administrative review takes way too long to finally throw the switch to get solar. Very disappointing why it takes so long.

Excellent sales representative, installation, and inspections. But it's now 6 weeks later, and I still haven't been able to activate the panels. It hasn't even been sent to electric company! Company's excuse is that it has to go through a company review.... for 6 weeks! Terrible customer service with no help, just excuses.

Before merging with Sunrun their customer service was horrible. They sometimes didn't call you back or if they did it took them days to respond. They at one point wouldn't add extra solar panels even though we were using more electricity than the previous owner. I had to call back many times just to get them to install the extra panels. They also told me that I was in my second year of the lease even though I was still in my first. They were a bad company. I have not had to deal with the new owners' customer service dept. as of yet so I will not be able to give a review of them.
