If you live in Placer County, use their Mpower program to shop for solar providers and to finance the installation. Solar city is wonderful...until the system is installed. After that, you don't exist. Their billing system is horrible. There was an error in every bill and you can't speak with anyone because they understaff the post- sale customer service lines. Then, you have to pay $90 every year, unless you let them have direct access to your bank account. They will take what they want, then you try to get back the overcharges.

For over a year we have been double billed, had our ACH payment option turned off and haverecieved fraudulent charges against our account. Customer Service manager Pam claims they are upgrading their billing system and cannot reverse a June 2 overcharge. We have been provided no documentation or statement regarding the charge. This has happened several times. It is unacceptable not to receive reimbursement for over $100 of overcharges

Leased a solar system from Solar City three years ago. Last year the system went down for 7 months. I could not get them to fix it. I had to pay the lease and SCE. It cost me over $2000 to SCE. The prior year I paid only $300. Solar City just told me that I did save money for the 5 months I had solar so they are not reimbursing anything. I highly recommend solar but not with Solar City.

Very disappointment with their service, My roof leaked like hell the first day it rained, My system was not working properly but I got charged for it and when I asked why they told me it will get adjusted in 2 years, my bill was the same and on top of it I have to pay them too. Solar City promised me 47% production I end up 33% which was not worth the hassle at all. Will not recommend them.

I received my first energy bill from Solar City. I strongly feel that I was taken for a ride. I saved $8.00 for the month of April compared to a pass energy bill. With summet here using pool and air-conditioning I probably will pay more. Agreement for 20 years definitely not worth it. Solar City made their money through rebates and I am stuck with panels on my roof. Told I would save 30% and certainly did not. I cannot through my conscience ask friends and family to convert to solar. Sent text message to sales representative and did not hear back.

Perhaps the WORST company I have ever dealt with. Unprofessional, deceptive and corrupt are the first three words that come to mind. I was so important to them that after the lying salesman coerced me into signing, almost a year went by before anything got going. The installation crews were obviously incapable of finding real jobs, so they settled for employment with this place. (after-all, the economy was still bad when I went through the nightmare) There is absolutely no way I would recommend anyone consider dealing with these thieves.

All Solar City has done for our residence is shift our payments from going to the utility to Solar City. The system is under performing and now we have have a utility bill and a bill for the solar panels. This is not unique to our system as we have friends experiencing the same problem. Solar City has been extremely lax and customer service after the installation has been horrible.

Headache from the beginning... Day of install was a nightmare. We got that fixed and now we are onto the billing. Agree with most of the posts on here. They promise you the moon on savings and we save $20 a month. Sent them our bills to have it reviewed and am now being told we will save in the summer... So what they are saying is you only get 3 months of savings. Wow what a deal. We tell everyone we can that you will only save $20/month with them don't do it! Thanks for nothing Wish we had seen these posts before signing anything!

I lease with solar city and I have 24 panels installed back in April 2014. The month of may I produce about 957 kwh, with trick will cost me about 120 some dollars I pay 89 dollar to solar city, yes there is a little bit of saving, but in December I produced only 479 kWh, with trico Will cost me about 53 dollars, but the solar panels cost me 89 a month so there is a 27 dollars negative on my wallet.. so is company its not promesing what they say

i am unhappy customer with solar city because they turn on my service on 12/21/15 and i got my first bill on january and they charging me from 12/01/15 to 1/31/16 and i call them and the answer was we install your panels beginning november so you start paying on december but the problem was the the service can not be running until you get the approval from edison so the ok to turn the service on from edison was on my mail on 12/20/15 and was turn on 12/21/15

Not gonna lie, not impressed. First, the panels were installed before the ink was dry. Then, we needed to go through a financing process (never told about this - needed because someone wealthy person needed to sponsor the house since I didn't want to buy panels.) Waiting months and the bright sunny days are behind us. Will have little benefit other than having panels already attached to my roof for months and no benefit. Pretty disgusted.

Totally awfull experience started in Sept 2015 salesman quit or was fired before install delayed installation due to no final contract ready for review no one ever followed up I sent an email and second associate followed up only to change terms of contract and when asked to talked with supervisor only received voicemail and never a call back run away as fast as you can from this company no customer service or integrity to what they say.

it has been extremely difficult to communicate with Solarcity to discuss crucial issues. I had requested for for purchase but to my surprise when I got the first bill it was production based so I called to complain. Till now, I have not got a clear explanation why and how the contract got changed without my approval. A contract with a strange signature was sent to me as a proof of my approval for the change. And all my many attempts to talk to Solarcity to resolve this issue have been frustrated.

SolarCity's sales person misrepresented the way the PPA works. There were many things said to me that were not true. The worst was the way they bill and the way I get credits back from my electric company. When I called customer service ( the escalation dept.) They told me everything is in the contract. I thought I could believe there sales rep. The bottom line with solarcity is read the contract and BUYER BEWARE.

We are having horrible issues with our system. Have tried since June to have system repaired but have met with total resistance from Solar City. THEY WILL NOT MAINTAIN THE SYSTEM AFTER IT IS INSTALLED. After only 3 years we have a crippled system producing at less than 60% and THEY DON'T CARE. My advice to anyone considering Solar City is...STAY AWAY...BEWARE...RUN. You are about to enter into a 20 year relationship with someone that couldn't care less about you and your investment.

Since going with solar city in 2015, I have not rec and discounts the ,system has often been off line and with error codes and I am paying high bills. I suspect it has to do with the company purchase I, still have not been able to monitor usage. I would like to spk with a rep ASAP for resolution or removal thank you. Jim b Roseville. Ca

We brought solar panels some years ago. It was before battery backup was available. We were told at the time of installation that when the backup batteries become available that they would install one. When they became available I was told that the backup batteries are for new customers.

I had a great experience with SolarCity before they sold my contract to Tesla. The poor reviews echo my experience completely. I agree we should somehow band together. Tesla charges me every month for panels that haven’t worked since SolarCity sold me. I refuse to pay these robbers and my bill is huge and unpaid.

My panels have been down since June. Call and call finally get an service date for Aug. 25th. The. They cancel and reschedule for Sept. 28th. Meanwhile I continue to pay them monthly plus Atlantic electric 700 for more a month. Four month is unacceptable for service. I would never recommend them.

it is not solar city now it is tesla and they are a nightmare to work with they want your money but offer absolutely disgraceful service. My experience with solar city was great. But once tesla took over it has been terrible. If I can get out of this contract you can bet I am done.

Don't get involved with SolarCity/Tesla. It will only cost you money. You will save nothing. If you decide to sell your home, the 20 year contract is considered a lease and may disqualify a potential buyer. DON'T GET INVOLVED. Keep your current electric company and stop using so much electricity. Shut off the lights.....

Solar city was great when they came to install the system. But a year later our inverter failed. And we are STILL trying to get it replaced!! Meanwhile, we are not producing any energy in one of the sunniest times of the year. And our True Up rises.... 🤬

the customer service is horrible. One of my inverters stopped working. I was waiting do 10 days for a technician, only to find out he can't fix it and I need new inverter. Now they tell me it's backordered and I'm waiting for almost a month. This is the hottest month of the year, AC is working day and night, but nobody cares

The worst. They lied, and misrepresented what the savings would be. They installed it on a roof that they knew would need to be replaced. When I had to reroof, they told me it would be $2,000 to take the panels off and put them back. With the lease payments, I'm paying more than I was, and they won't do anything about it. Awful!!!

MY SYSTEM WAS NOT DESIGNED TO MEET THE CONTRACTED NEED OF 109%. IN ADDITION, IT WAS DESIGNED TO 15.25 KW. ACTUAL IS 12.6 KW. PROPOSED MONTHLY COST IS INCORRECT. ACTUAL COST OF THE SYSTEM MONTHLY LOAD PAYMENT AND LOCAL UTILITY EXCEEDS AMOUNT IF UTILITY ONLY

Terrible customer service. Money saved (if any) is not worth the time spent with a customer service department that does not deliver. We have issues with panels and leaking. Issues are not resolved on a timely basis. DO NOT consider Solar City.

Do not use Tesla who owns solar city for anything solar on your house. Installers are great and then it goes bad from there, just terrible customer service and you will hear every excuse in the world as to why you can't get your solar turned on. Really bad company. This company is the worst. I need to have my roof replaced due to storms in the area. I have been waiting months to have the Solar Panels removed. Today they have a hour long wait on the phone. Do not get Solar Panels on your roof by Solar City. You will truly regret it!!!!!! Customer Service is the pitts! Its not worth the trouble. Not much of a savings either!

We leased our solar panels from Solar City two years ago. Aside from our monthly bill from solar city, we were billed by SCE $575 this year and around $375 last year. I called SCE and I was told that we were getting that much energy from them. Why weren’t we told of this by Solar City when we signed up? This is a rip off!

Just got a call from Solar City, saying our system was not producing power. That’s fine but they can’t get here to fix it for over a week!,, So now I have to pay both my electric company for more usage, and a Solar City lease..... Why is that, it’s not my fault they can’t get here for 9 days.....
