Solar Optimum itself was great, but the installers they hired were a nightmare. It was a fight to get the system installed within months of when it was originally promised. They failed multiple inspections with the City and I ended up calling the permitting office directly to sort out the issues that were preventing the project from being approved & it was clear the installers were being dishonest with what they were telling me in person was holding the project up. The only reason the system was completed before the end of the year (and I was able to collect the full tax credit) was because of the legwork I personally had to put in with the city. I felt like I was required to do far more than a typical homeowner ever should have been just to get things installed correctly and in a reasonable timeframe.

Workmanship was fine; establishing the project had several major problems. I never had an estimator come out before the bid, so the proposed system was too big for my electrical. I ended up with fewer panels with less output for the same amount of money. Additionally, the information that I have a huge shade tree planted on one end of the house was not communicated, so now I will have to spend $1000 to move the tree if I want my panels to continue to run at full power.

I am very happy with the product and I hope to enjoy it for years to come but the customer service can definitely improve. First I had part of the system installed in a section of the home that I had plans for something else and when I brought it up to their team, I was basically told that I should have read the blueprints more thoroughly and not sign it, even when they were in a hurry to get it done, even though I didn't actually have the system activated for over a month after that.

The salesman was very professional and answered all of my questions. I agreed to go with Solar Optimum because they were about $2k less than the competitor. I had to sign a separate contract for the battery and when I added the amounts together, I realized that the total amount was $2k more than the total quoted me. I went back to the salesman who told me there was nothing they could do. As I had already signed the preliminary contract and completed the preliminary site survey, I decided to proceed. I am less than 3 months in and the gateway, system controller, microinverters and battery quit communicating with the Enphase app for a week. The second time I called, I was told I needed to reset the gateway wifi connection. I did that and even though the gateway is successfully reconnected to the wifi, the system controller, microinverters and battery were not. A live view of the system showed that the battery was not discharging. A tech came out, but couldn't fix the issue. I got a call the next day from Solar Optimum saying that a software update not pushing through was a know issue and they were able to correct it remotely. The system is now working and I hope there will not be any more glitches or issues.

Representative came was all sales. Didn’t even look at roof for any potential issues. Only looked at panel at my urging. We have an older electrical panel and I was concerned about any last minute costs and was told it would be only $1500, however, I noted I was concerned it would be much more expensive and didn’t want to sign until they told me all costs. Although I asked to be sent the proposal and financing options, I never received anything. I called office aft 4 days and they had the representative call me. When he did, he said I had to contact Edison for them to spot new panel location so they could tell me full price. I expected a turnkey process.

Workmanship and installers were great. Getting the work done though took months. Everything was cleared to go in October till installers came and said roof was not good. Ended up having roof work repaired and from then on I had to call weekly to see when roof and Solar was going to get installed and system activated. Signed paperwork for Solar in July ‘22 and officially running in February ‘23. Customer service was great every time I called and always helpful.
