i started the process of getting solar energy from these people.initially they were right on top of everything.there were a few bumps in the road but it looked good.the salesman was great and kept in touch with me.all of a sudden all communication stopped.they abandoned me.i did some consulting and investigating and found out that solar energy was not for me personally at this time.

The nastiest customer service, They tell you one thing then they lie and say another thing in Houston, TX, The workers on LI N.Y. work skills are the worst. Leave staples all over the road, Walk on the roof while talking on their phones. We have had burnt wires and panels burn up and when you call them they say YOU MUST LEAVE THE SYSTEM ON. HELLO ARE YOU SERIOUS!!! Still waiting for them to finish the repairs 13 months later. I won't even start about all the damages they did to my house. I have lots of pictures of them in action if anyone wants to see.LOL

The worst service ever. Was lied to from day one about the system paying for at least 90% of my electric bills, with my bill from PSE&G and their bill I have not saved anything. I have called numerous times, but they still have not returned a single call. My next step is to just turn the system off and stop payment and let them take me to court. Think very long and hard before your choose NRG

We got our solar panels last year and are now having problems with the service department. We have been calling customer service now for over a week and have so far not been able to talk to a representative regarding our $768. electric company bill for this month and over $400. bill for the previous month. We would like to have someone come out and check the solar panels.

This company is a joke. We bought our first house because my husband will be getting out of the military. So when we bought our house I figured; "hey can't be bad. Maybe they can make our bill less". Nope I was soooo wrong. Our bill was at a steady $385 without the AC/ Heat being on at all! It was crazy trying to cancel the service. We had the run around on the phone with numerous different numbers and people who have no idea what they're doing over the phone. Possibly the worst mistake, as homeowners, we've ever made. Save yourself the headache and your bank account and skip past NRG.

Poor customer service, been going back and forth with them for 6 months and they cant tell me nothing on my high electricity bill. When i got the lease the sales man told me if i ever get a high electricity bill to call them and they will take care of it, hastle free! Well they lied! I call them and they tell me they have nothing to do with it for me to call my utility company, i call my utility company and they say to call my solar company! Dont recommend this company! Bad Bad customer service and all the promises are lies.

I have been very happy with NRG. They have been responsive to my calls . I find it's a good option if you don't want to put upfront money or your system.

We signed with NRG in March of 2015, the panels were delivered in June and installed in July. By September, all inspections had been completed. It is now approaching March, 2016 and the system has not been turned on yet. We've called NRG for several months and continue to receive the same excuse that they can't proceed until they get approval for our home from a bank.

I am having a problem with my lease agreement. I was told I would pay $90/ month x 20 years. I was also told that the solar panels would provide more power than I would need and I would be getting a check back from the grid for the extra power I produced. So far, I have paid my $90 to NRG and about $100 to the grid??? This is grossly more than the $125 I paid in total before installation. 8 phone calls to NRG have yet to produce even 1 call back.

NRG is a disappointment. I signed up for a consultation appointment and kept it. The salesman was helpful, but I didn't want to lease, I wanted to buy. They do not sell panels in my state (not sure why). I never received the 25 gift card promised for Ace Hardware. Cannot even get through to customer service - it is an answering service. Left 4 messages. Thankfully, I didn't sign up with them.

I have had NRG now for a year....Good Luck trying to get through to them.....NOT HAPPENING ! They promised installation in 3 months...took almost 7 and over 30 phone calls and emails. took another 3 months for them to come back and clean up their mess in my attic. Now that im on thier power I cant get throught to them...keep getting answering service and NO RETURN calls. If you like to keep your sanity DONT use NRG...PERIOD!!

Discouraging to say the least. Good marketing for sure and sales pitch until you take the bait and commit. All communication stops, Customer service are great ad they know there job, but the actual account staff are either a mirage or don't work or don't exist. Maybe they are too new in the game to be real don't do it if they can take care of the small things how can they be trusted to take care the actual equipment and the service.

Salesman or manager, still not sure since I cant trust him, named Sean in NY. told me I would be my own delivery no more charges, he has still not returned phone calls. He also told me no more electric bill that I would supply my own electric at 100 percent. I eventually talked to customer care and they explained to me that the system works, but still no word from the saleman. They need to get rid of him since he lies. I am a senior citizen and have many friends that I want to refer to someone else, the company is good, just the salesman made it bad, he mumbles also could not hear him.

Pleasant enough sales people. With a little digging though my wife and I learned they offer lousy, one sided deals (solar farm sharing) with horrible requirements, if only to inspect the proposed contract. Caveat emptor. Do not even consider them. Remember that NRG stands for "Non Regulated Generation", with an emphasis on the "non regulated" part. They and their heavy handed tactics (and reported lousy service) are reason enough for some state or federal agency to come in and find a way to regulate them.

My experience is the same as almost everyone else. Several years ago, I signed a contract and after several months no installation and no communication. I did something the I recommend that everyone else do, I filed a complaint with my states attorney general. After that NRG contacted me and let me out of the contract. I strongly urge everyone to file a compliant with your states attorney general and the utilities commission.

After a "brief" 20 minute visit by an NRG salesman, who had absolutely NO information on their systrm. I was promised an engineered quote by the next business day. I NEVER received ANY quote or ANYTHING afterward....EVER, even to this very day, even after leaving repeated E-mails and voicemail messages, probably 10 total. EXTREMELY poor, no..actually NONEXISTENT customer support.

The company has had the system on my roof for a year. Can not get it turned on. Every call ends up with.... I'll have a supervisor call you back. The latest is a consumer fraud issue where they are trying to force a lease amendment (with an executed lease already in effect ) raising the price and lowering both estimated and guaranteed production costs. Company is a fraud...... STAY AWAY

NRG is the worst when it comes to customer service. Signed the contract in July of 2014 it was June 2015 and no installation. When I called many many times they would string me alone g and tell me they were waiting for permits that was untrue. After waiting almost a year I phone them pissed off and they tell me the person no longer works for them and I would need to sign another contract. This was the 3rd person that handled our contract and no longer worked for them. PLEASE DON'T USE THE THEY ARE A TERRIBLE COMPANY.

NRG is absolutely the worst company I have ever done business with. We signed the contract on Sept 23, 2014 and had accepted contracted dated Oct 7, 2014. It has been all a complete cluster since. We now are June 5, 2015 and have had panels on our roof for 2 months and cannot get PTO or ANYONE to return a phone call. We wish we had NEVER contacted NRG.

I just had an appointment with Dennis Solar Specialist from NRG and we scheduled a subsequent meeting for May 13, 2015. The above Rep. Was extremely knowledgeable with the product. Buying 1/3 of my annual usage at a fixed rate sounded like a win win. After reading the reviews bestcompany.com I'm going to steer clear of this installation. All 0's with a 10 thrown in- must be an in house review- I believe the company must have their own installers, and better follow up. If the company did business like the Rep. Who came to my home they would be a winner.

Not happy with this company, been 6months since the panels were put on roof , still waiting for electric company to install last remaining item so that we can hook up the panels to start producing electric. Would not wait must longer ,will contact better business bureau and have the panels removed and get another company who appreciate the customer

36 panels on my roof, 3 years now.Installation company (3rd party) did a great job!! Solar Supply of CO. Recently, 4 solar panels failed within a short period of time.7 weeks of constant phone calls and emails to NRG corporate, tech and repair departments = nothing except extreme aggravation!! Runaround, absolute lies and fast-talkers is what this company is good at!!STEER CLEAR!The only reason I gave them a 1 instead of a zero was the excellence of the original installer.

Everything sounds great with this company but when you try to sign up they ate more interested in making you get tree cutting services. They were provided photos that undeniably proved there was no shade over my home at any time. Even the manager wouldn't pursue providing the service to my home without my agreeing to tree cutting. Additionally, they were using satellite views that were not in real. When I even sent in photos proving them wrong, they wouldn't back down on pushing the demand for their tree cutting.

They promised us a huge saving on our electric bills, however, we are currently paying 2 electric bills. One to NRG and the other to NYSEG! We have tripled our electric bill thanks to solar. The customer service is awful. No one calls you back or knows your account even exists. No one has provided me with any helpful information. The install guys made a huge mess, ripped shingles. The salesman made us sign a lease on his tablet in order to get "in line" for install to get a spot. We were rushed into making the decision and feel that we have been totally scammed.

This company deserves all the negative reviews. I regret the day I made a decision to do business with them. I now pay more than I have ever paid for electricity and I'm stuck with a roof full of panels and a 20 year lease agreement with 18 years left. I still think solar is good for the country - just don't try it with this company.

NRG scammed me. I was told by their salesman that I was under no obligation to pa y a cancellation fee until the plans were approved by me to go forward. He had me do DocuSign on a small iPad I have not approved their plan and they are charged me $1500 dollars to cancel my install without anything being done. A big rip off company.

It is expensive and it is only potential for savings. It takes 2 to 6 months to cancel because it is a transfer. Do not sign up. You are better off investing your money in the stock market. Never buy from a door to door salesperson.

They do not return phone calls. The so called monitoring system missed the fact that our system did not work for two months because of a defective inverter. it took 23 phone calls and an appeal to the state consumer protection agency to have snow guards installed because of dangerous snowfalls off our roof into our front walk, stay away from them.

Sales Rep. lied gave me a quote how my small bill would look like and how I will save lots of money. And Government Plan can help, Now I'm stuck with a contract and a big mortgage statement each month NRG planted in my Home mortgage payment. Plus that's not all Once a year I get a Big Fat bill from Edison $2500 you must pay.

It took me 9 months to get NRG to replace a meter on my house that was defective the day they installed it and they told me is was not working. Then when they finally did replace it I lost all my previous usage info on my computer and took another month to get that fixed.

NRG calls using the PGE caller ID claiming to be affiliated with PG&E, they are not. When I asked for a call back number the caller hung up. If these people are dishonest from the first call, you will have no one to blame but yourself for doing business with them.

Do not even contact this company! I cannot get them to stop sending unwanted emails. The equipment they used to tap into my panel started an electrical fire and could have burned my house down, especially that the panel is in my garage and could have easily gone unnoticed. Thank goodness my husband happened to be in the garage and noticed sparks!
