To fit customer needs, Sunrun offers several solar financing options, including solar lease, Power Purchase Agreement (PPAs), prepayment, outright purchase, and solar loan.

Customized Solar Systems

As a result, the solar company customizes every solar panel installation to the customer's needs using its own proprietary Automated Site Modeling design technology. With just a few pieces of information and satellite imagery of the rooftop, Sunrun's Automated Site Modeling software quickly designs a custom solar energy system to maximize production.

Simple Solar Process

Sunrun strives to make switching to clean energy as simple and hassle-free as possible for its customers. The solar installer saves time by taking care of everything from scheduling to permitting and allowing people to follow their installation progress through the mySunrun mobile app. The design and installation process is as follows:

  • Step 1: Sunrun's experienced technicians will visit, measure, and evaluate the home; ensure that a solar system is the right fit; and design a customized solar plan.
  • Step 2: Sunrun's design experts will review and make any adjustments to the custom evaluation.

25-Year Maintenance

If Sunrun customers choose to lease or obtain a PPA, Sunrun will own the solar panel system and, therefore, is responsible for all maintenance and repairs of the system. Additionally, Sunrun will refund customers if the panels installed on their roof ever underperform.

Roof Warranties and Coverage for Sunrun Solar Panels

Other benefits of Sunrun's product include a 10-year warranty on systems that are purchased and up to a 25-year warranty on systems that are leased. Each solar customer's Sunrun contract also includes a roof warranty, which protects the roof from leaks or holes.

After you sign your Sunrun agreement, you’re ready for solar panel installation. The best part? You don’t have to lift a finger because we take care of everything from scheduling to submitting permits, to working with the city and utility, and securing your solar panels to your roof. Naturally you’ll have questions, and we’ll be right there with you answering them every step of the way. Once you’re approved for a Sunrun solar installation, your home will undergo a site assessment and an expert solar technician will visit your home to confirm your system design. After that, our solar design experts make any necessary adjustments to your design and get your final approval. Once you’ve approved your system design, we submit your design to the city for permitting. From there, either Sunrun or one of our local certified partners perform your solar installation. We only partner with the top-rated solar installers, so know you’ll have the highest quality solar installation available. When your installation is complete, the city or county will perform a final inspection on your system. Once it’s approved, it will be connected to the grid, and we’ll submit your documents to the utility company. After your utility company grants Permission to Operate, you’re ready to start powering your home with the sun.

How long does it take for Sunrun to install solar panels?

The process of having a home solar system installed on your roof can be relatively quick. Many Sunrun installations are completed in one day. But before our crew comes to your house, we take a few weeks to prepare your project so that you have the smoothest installation day possible. You will have a team of experts working for you during this time who handle the tasks necessary for a smooth solar installation and keep you updated along the way. Our customer app also allows you to see your installation status during this time: - Conduct a site survey to look at your roof, attic and electrical panel - Finalize your custom design - Apply for permits and wait for approval - Collect other necessary approvals and documentation that is specific to your neighborhood, such as HOA approval Your project coordinator will be in touch with you throughout this time to keep you up-to-date on your progress. When it comes time to install the system, your installation coordinator will let you know how long the construction process will take for your home.

How long is a Sunrun agreement?

What happens at the end of a Sunrun agreement?

Does Sunrun offer solar monitoring?

Yes! We have a monitoring team dedicated to keeping an eye on your home solar system. Here’s how it works: - We record production (in real-time) — Your Sunrun meter counts your kilowatts as they’re produced. - We collect your production data (every six hours) — Four times a day, your Sunrun meter sends your production data to our Denver-based monitoring team, where all production data is collected, stored, and analyzed. - We evaluate your production (every day) — We compare your production to the estimates included in your contract to confirm that your system is working as expected. We also check the weather and other systems in your neighborhood to make sure you’re harvesting just as much sunshine as your neighbors. - We fix what needs fixing (if necessary) — If your system isn’t working as expected, we will identify the issue and rectify the situation. If we cannot fix your system with remote troubleshooting, we may need to send a technician to take a look at your system in person.

This company is aweful. My credit card from Vivint was no longer accepted by sunrun after they bought the company so they called be for late payment. The former owners of my house had added panels after the fact so sun run has two seperate accounts for my house. When I paid they credited the wrong account and have been harassing me for the last year because they can’t figure out I already paid and they just need to credit the correct account. Also the lease has it so they should be servicing our panels. I have lost two days of work waiting on no shows so I asked them to schedule a Saturday and they booked a Monday instead. Lots of apologies but no actual results fixing my problems. On top of that I was stuck with the former owners contract which might be the worse solar deal ever signed. The service it’s a rip off with terrible customer service. Do not use this company

I’ve had Sunrun solar for 7 years. We purchased our solar through Costco. I’m finding these reviews of 8 months interesting. Just wait until you need service. We had to have a panel fix because it wasn’t producing. Now our panels are under producing solar so we don’t generate enough electricity to offset out SCE bill. We actually have had to pay every year now for the last 3 years. Then when we try to get Sunrun to check system they want us to upgrade our meter because the power company is upgrading their equipment and they want 300 dollars to do this. They don’t monitor our system but can access our system through other resources(inverter) they use. So, all you new solar people buckle up for the ride!

Whatever problems that we came up against when doing the installation, they resolved them quickly and efficiently. I cannot believe how easy the project went and how smoothly it went, I've never experienced any contractor perform in the way the sun run performed. The process was incredibly smooth including things like minor details like replacing a stock when they put in they put in a new electrical panel there was issues with the roof they took care of that as well. I recommended them to my mother and she's also very satisfied. The sales staff and contractors are all amazing and I appreciate that the work was performed in a professional manner and everything was handled very smoothly and I really do appreciate having solar in my house.

Non-exosting customer service. We decided to go with Sunrun to install the panels on our roof and what a mistake it was in retrospect. Initially everything went smooth until they installed incorrect panels and now trying to rework the contracts and what not. My panels were installed on 09/07/22 and the system didn't pass several inspections. After 3 months every issue was finally addressed but then they just disappeared and I haven't heard from them since.

Worst solar system. I recently got sunrun installed in my house. Sunrun folks have punctured bunch of holes on my roof where there are no solar panels installed. Sunrun guys said this for the support of their solar system. Water is leaking from those punctured holes causing damage to my house. I have made my complaint it's been 2 days no body from sunrun had responded me back regarding roof repair. Also, there is no cost saving after installation of sunrun solar system. I pay pg&e $453 and sunrun $134. Previously we were just paying pg&e . Now sunrun solar system is just an add on burden.

RUN AWAY! They will not honor there roof agreement. We have clear evidence where anchors missed the joist and created leaks, they closed it and stated it was due to squirrels and not the 5 areas where the anchors missed the joist and it just happens to be where the water is getting in. I wish I could just rip them off and throw them on my lawn. DO NOT DO IT!!

Buyer beware!!! Sunrun and Costco are not the preferred solar provider. It's a joke and a rip-off. I was in the Costco in my city (City of Commerce,CA) shopping and always had an interest in solar and spoke with a representative in the Costco and signed on for solar in 3/2022. Here we are in January 2023 and still no installation of solar panels. I never heard of Sunrun but trusted them because of Costco. I was told the panels would be installed in 7/2022. In October I was contacted by the funding company (Goodleap) to be informed that billing would begin n November 2022. So far I have made payments for three months and no solar installation. In this month (January 2023) Goodleap pulled back the funding from Sunrun because of delays and I had to sign new loan documents so Sunrun could have the money for the panels. This whole experience gets worse because the communication between the sales department and the installation department is so convoluted that one hand does not know what the other hand is doing. To quote the sales person indicated that she only a " Messenger " and has no control over the installaation. On 1-13-2023 I was conatcted to schedule the installation by a Derin H with an agreed installation date of 1/24/2023 and no one showed up, no phone call, nothing! As of this writing I have no idea where I stand with regard to my solar installation. Its a sad situation when Costco teams up with a company like SUNRUN they should be ashamed, I trusted in Costco and have been let down. There is more drama but I am limited in this rating. All future customers that shop at COSTCO should stay away from SUNRUN as a provider of solar.

I couldn't put minus infinity. Do not let them lie to you and rip you off by over building your system. FYI. 40 years as a successful electrical contractor. You will end up paying. 25c. Kind of receive 04 from sdg&e. $2,500 a year, donated to the grid. I think that is why the guy that leased the system moved. You probably won't believe me when I tell you a have a serious roof leak from 2 solar lag bolts that missed the joists. I keep hoping they will honor the contract and take me to arbitration. Csers turned me over to a collection agency for the total cost of the system in 2010. Because I breached the contract by refusing to meet with them. Even after emailing several times that they own nothing inside and feel free to work on their system whenever. Do you think they would have the gall to ask for a wi-fi password? Answer to next questions. Unfortunately and LOL

SunRun is very proactive with getting back to you and getting you set up for things like service appointments. I would recommend them to a friend. The installation process went very well. The only thing we have that went wrong with the system is that at the very beginning it didn't generate anything for two weeks and we never did receive a credit for those two weeks.

From the beginning to the end, the representatives were very helpful, gave us answers to all our questions, gave us all the information, and were kind. We like the company, they are a trusted company to use. Installation was very smooth and it was overnight. They were in contact with me and explained what to expect. Followed up with phone calls every step of the way and told me what was happening. They keep you in the loop if something wasn't going to happen or they were running behind. They were all very sociable. I do love their app. I have already recommended them to a friend. The lady who came by explained everything to me start to finish. And so she was great. The guys that came out and put the roof on and put the panels on were very clean and neat, I liked everybody I worked with. Installation was process they got done in one day, it was perfect. If I had to pick a solar company it would be SunRun.

Every step of the way they kept me informed on what was going on at all times. They actually were very prompt at the time that they said they were going to be here. The installation went a lot faster than I thought it was going to go. When someone came out they went inside the roof to make sure that the roof was in good shape before they even did anything. Then after they did the work they made sure there wasn't any damage to the roof. I was really happy with it. They did a perfect job and taught me how to use everything.

They always followed up, they would call to alert me as far as what the next step in the process was and they told me how much time it was going to take in order to do the test. I am monitoring the the amount of solar that the product is generating and it seems to be performing at a very good rate. This company has a lot of experience. As far as the installation process, he showed up and the entire system was installed within seven hours. I liked the customer support as well, the man I talked to was excellent and he explained everything step by step, he outlined everything very thoroughly.

Always very informative and they stay on top of updates. They answered all my questions and explained everything to me in detail. Everything seems to be working and there have been no problems. Everything was smooth from start to finish, they handled everything well. The installation was pretty good, they fixed any little repairs that were done during the installation with no problem. They customer service people always stayed in contact and made sure that things were going well. I feel the installation went very easily and they preserved the roof by not damaging and they completed it in one and a half days total. I've called customer service a few times about a battery back up and they said they were going to do it but I still haven't gotten it. Other than that I have no problems with the company. I've been using SunRun for seven years now and I'm happy with it. I've already recommended them to at least three or four people, I am very happy with SunRun. The installation process went smoothly and they did a good job.

I have never seen a company with people coming out to your place with so much compassion there and courteous professionalism. It was really great experience. Install went very quickly and it was amazing how knowledgeable they were speaking and working really fast precise and it's really nicely done. It's perfectly working, they look good, they did a great job. Overall It was a very good experience for me.

We're very happy with it, the best investment we ever made. We're going on a seventh year and there's been no problem so it has to be good equipment in order to not have any problem. Installation went very well, there were three gentlemen that came here in the morning and within three or four hours they were done. Everything looks perfect. The service is excellent and the people have been very helpful and also they monitored the panels and keep us informed

I got every question I've ever had answered. Everything looks fine and it's functioning fine. I have already recommended them to a friend. Installation went very simply and quickly. I think installation took two days. But there was no confusion or inconvenience for the families. It was just a very easy process, I think the sales people and engineers did a great job of explaining everything from how what works to when the installation process is going to be and so far we've had a great experience.

I like that they email us and keep us informed all the time. I do like the fact that they didn't just install it and forget about it. We are happy about our credit and electric bill. We thought it was a very good value because we've got a rebate from federal government three years in a row. We have had no problems with them. We just actually recommended them to different people in the last week. Everything went very smoothly. We were very happy with the company.

I'm very upset with Sunrun. On 12.28.22 I received an email asking me to call to make an appointment due to the loss of communication of our solar. This has been done 3 times. An appointment was made for 1.20.23 between 8 and 12 and once again, no one came AND no one bothered to call to update the appointment. Considering this is the first time I've been required to request your attention you are not showing us much concern ~ SO stop asking me how you did. WHAT DO I DO NOW? ABSOLUTELY WORSE COMPANY EVER. They are either incompetent or crooks, but I suspect they are both. Shame on Costco for choosing to partner with Sunrun (I will also notify Costco of my negative experience). After meeting with a Sunrun sales person who we discovered later is a rookie and has NO experience whatsoever in the solar power industry, we decided to sign a first contract which would allow for Sunrun to send a surveyor to inspect our roof. We made it crystal clear from the beginning that we were putting on a brand new TILE roof. We were never notified that this could be a problem. NEVER. Sunrun sent a surveyor to do an inspection (inside the attic, inside the house and outside as well) while the new tile roof was being started. A day or so later, I received a text message from the sale person that the roof was perfect! "I just talked to the surveyor, the roof is all good to go" (I kept her text messages as proof and will forward to Costco when I write my complain). They sent a second surveyor with a drone... Still good to go... until I received a phone call that they cannot place solar panels on a tile roof unless we remove the tiles where the solar panels would be mounted and lay asphalt. Really??? Do you think that a company whose primary business is to put solar panels on roofs would have the decency to notify us of this earlier???? Well, if we were to pay an additional 10K than what was stipulated on the original contract, they would do it.... which of course we refused to do. Story short, unless you want to risk doing business with incompetent people or crooks, stay away from Sunrun!

Sunrun took our prior year's power bills and promised to generate enough power so we'd only pay NV Power the less then $14.00 connection fee', Due to a death and cancer diagnosis and treatment I didn't sit down and look at their performance until 16 months after it was activated. When I did I discovered they were producing about 50% of their PROMISED output. I was actually paying them more per KWH then I'd have paid NV Power. In January 2022 I quit paying my monthly bill because they CLAIMED the system was operating at 100% of what it was designed for. They then told me if I provided statements from NV Power, which we'd done before installation, they'd review the system's performance which I knew was a waste of time because they'd again claim it was at 100%. But I did it and before they'd even had time to study it they DEACTIVATED the system because I was 2 months in arrears! Now they're telling me if I pay the 2 months I owe they'll reactivate it? THEN I'd be right back to paying them more then I'd pay NV Power per KWH, SO why would I? My demand now is they either up grade the system to perform like their representatives PROMISED us over and over that it would or remove it!

Horrible company! So far, it has a) failed to properly file with city of San Diego for permits forcing a delay of 4 months; b) the delay would not have been discovered without having a relative within the city government discovering it; c) the initial installation of the roofing underlayment was done improperly, leaving a clear seam in the shingles which led to roof leak; d) company could not schedule a roofer to inspect so we had to do that ourselves; e) roofer discovered that sealant had not been applied properly nor had solar panel mounts been properly installed which necessitated complete removal of all panels and re-roofing (again arranged for by us, not the company); f) after panels were removed today, we discovered that a caulking gun and caulking tube had been left on the roof--which the workers merely tossed on the ground by the house, and several plants by the house had been trampled and broken; G) to add insult to these, we had to spend time filling out a form to request for the removed panels to be reinstalled! This company has been, to say the least, a complete disappointment in terms of its stewardship, accountability for quality of work, and follow through. We are regretting our choice of company to say the least.

Everything was done on time, the agent that was in charge of everything kept in touch and everything went well. I've had the product for a little over a year now and it seems to be working very well, I have virtually no electric bills whatsoever. The installation process went very smoothly. I was really impressed with the installation and then with the follow up. I know that we're already over producing which is what I was hoping for. I'm pretty happy with leasing plan that we have. The installation process was very good except there were a few issues. Every time I asked a question they answered it and got back to me. Everything is working good. As far as the installation process, it was pretty easy and they told me when the guys would be there and then they showed up and were in and out pretty quickly and didn't leave a mess.
