Long Contract Terms

Sunnova requires a 25-year service agreement, which is higher than the average 20-year agreement employed by most other solar energy companies. While this can still lead toward a path to ownership, longer-termed solar loans are often accompanied by relatively higher interest rates. Customers should get in touch with a Sunnova employee for specific terms and conditions prior to signing a contract.

Additionally, Sunnova does not offer a production guarantee for the PPA option, which can be detrimental if the system isn't producing as much as it should be during the length of the contract.

No Buyout Option For Leases

The company's lease options do not include a buyout option for the Sunnova customer, which creates a disadvantage for those who may need to move while under contract.

We had many companies come to our house and try to sell us solar panels one even tried to rent solar panels to us but they were not within our budget. Sunova is the only one who offered us exactly what we needed. We are pre-senior citizens and are looking at a fixed budget in which we needed solar panels in order to make sure that our quality of life is not compromised because of the soaring electric rates. So nova offered us a budget based rental of solar panels in which they maintain them for us which is another plus and fits within our budget. We were concerned about any maintenance and repairs that might occur but that worry is completely gone. They are solely responsible for whatever happens to the Panels that is beyond our control. This is the best program out there. As a mathematician the math adds up. I read the entire 32 pages of the contract and everything seemed legitimately good.

I have had no issues with the company. I knew during contracting that my bill would go up by about $5.00 every 6 months or so, which I was told is less than projected increases from my electric company, but I do wish that it was less than a dollar every 6 months or a year. Wishing thinking, but I just wanted to say that. You are doing very well because that is my only concern. Thank you for such good service! My family and I appreciate it!

I gave Sunnova a 5 rating and in doing so, the benifit of the doubt. This adventure has taken 3 months longer than predicted. I believe Sunnova was powerless as living in a rural area was tha main cause of delay and the other, Arizona Public Sevice, my energy provider. Sunnova's communication throughout the process was outstanding as was the installer, Titan. If considering solar, i recommend Sunnova! Thx

Here is not a lot to like about your company, since the installation of the solar equipment. When the inspector came and found the installation error, it has been very frustrating to us to get any answers from anyone. Someone should have been on top of the whole situation , and contacting us about what is happening????? As of right now I have no idea when inspector is due back or when new meter is due to be installed???? It is bad when your customer is not kept in the loop?????

The sales representative was very knowledgeable in answering my questions. The installers were excellent. Customer service was not as helpful. Customer service said i could receive my invoice through regular mail not through the internet. When i called again customer service said they could not do that. I am a victim of identity theft and do not like doing any business on line and it states in your contract that I can choose to have it nailed to my po box. My electrics bill is still higher than I like. But what's done is done. I see solcius went bankrupt. I can no longer reach the sales representative and a few times when i called customer service you referred me to the sales representative. In the future I believe you all need to be on the same page.

I really appreciate how helpful everyone has been through the whole process of “going solar”. Early on every time I had questions and concerns our solar consultant was always willing to make time to meet and explain, clarify and educate us on everything we needed to know. Beyond that all other steps to go live were straight forward and easy and the cutover was seamless that I only knew it happened because I received confirmation that our electricity was now being generated by our solar panels. What a great experience for someone like me who knew solar could be beneficial but was a little skeptical of how to make the transition. Now we have been live for a couple of weeks and everything seems just as it was before when we were getting our energy direct from the electric company.

Customer service was amazing. A representative comes over to talk about how everything works before you decide if you want solar or not. Throughout the whole process our rep, Dwight, would call or text us to give us updates. If any problems come up during inspection the company will usually help resolve it, we needed a new circuit box before installation and that was taken care of by Sunnova. After installation, we had to wait for the state to give the approval before turning them on. The whole process will take some time, it relies on the state, the energy company, and Sunnova. From day 1 to turning the solar on, for us, took about 8 months, but now our electric bill is basically gone, and we only pay for the solar panels (the price is discussed during consultation). Overall, we love having solar and have not had any problems thus far.

Sunnova’s Enlighten on-line solar system monitoring tool is very well designed. I can see how my system is working 24 hrs a day, empowering me to make informed decisions about the best time to use my appliances. When the PGE power went out recently, the house automatically switched over to solar battery use. And we immediately received notification from Sunnova reminding us to cut back on our electrical use in order to preserve our battery charge. My sales reps from SEP, Michael F and Crystal G were fantastic. They were so helpful and through, I decided to cancel a contract I already had with another company and go with Sunnova. They continue to be available for assistance, rather than abandoning me once the sale was over. I’m very pleased with Sunnova.

Service took forever, sales people promised and said several things and did not follow through with anything, was promised 3 google devices for partnership with Home Depot and this was never delivered, was told I would have solar installed on both my detached garage and main house and this was incorrect, was told and shown by their specialist that the amount of solar I was getting would be sufficient to at least come close to breaking even with my electric bill, it has been almost 2 months of usage and even on an average day at 65 degrees and sunny, I don't even get 30% return on usage, the solar installation was also very difficult and cause multiple rescheduling event due to miscommunication at the office causing me to loose 2 days of PTO just for them to install on a weekend, and during the final inspection, their guys left everything open, from the attic, the panel left unscrewed and on the floor, to even the back door left wide open after they left. The SunNova Specialist also promised that I would be given an easily step by step guide on receiving any credits and Virginia rebates through their online system that does it all for you.... here we are months later and I haven't received anything more then my first bill! I feel lied too, over promised, and under delivered... would not recommend, if you want solar, just buy it yourself.

If I could give no stars a would Sunnova went in to our home while we were out of the country and had house sitters caring for our home. They forced a simulated power outage from the breaker box which broke 2 breakers, fried my stove and oven which are no longer functioning, and now outlets in 3 rooms of my home no longer work. They closed the work order, stating that everything is fine. I have called sunnova everyday for 2 weeks but they refuse to let me speak with any managers or people that can help. They are ghosting me and now I have to get a lawyer to get my house fixed. I am so upset and angry and just want the damage repaired.

Fixed my solar panels in a reasonable amount of time. My only complaint is that they canceled my appointment the morning of the appointment because they didn’t have the part even though I had asked them when they made the appointment if they had the part.

Being an environmental activist, renewable energy is my way to go and this is where Sunnova comes in. Sunnova has durable and long lasting premium solar batteries. Using Sunnova has really helped me reduce on my electricity utility bills. However the post installation and customer service is abit lacking. Sunnova is however a good solar power service provider.

Very clean installation of my FranklinWH Battery System (2) 13.6KW Batteries to accommodate my 10.08KWP Solar System the was previously installed by an out of business company. Everyone from the sales rep to the lead tech and his crew were very knowledgeable about the product they sold and installed. Very thorough follow through from the whole team up to the commissioning of the product. Very satisfied!

The product is a bit more expensive than we were anticipating, but through loans and rebates, make the decision an affordable monthly decision. Our sales rep, Kelly, was so amazing through the entire process. She helped walk us through if it was the right decision for us or not. We never felt pressured and felt very informed to make the decision to go with the panels on the roof. :)

I had contacted another company who got the permits and showed up and said that, because of my roof coating, they couldn't install the panels. I am an engineer and know exactly what would have been code approved. We cancelled the order. I got a later call and the rep hadn't heard about this. He went ahead but learned that "their engineers" wouldn't sign off on the roof attachment. A big waste of my time and a big delay in getting my system on line.

Best decision of my life when buying my home. I have all electric and having these solar panels get me to the point of not having to pay National Grid ANYTHING for the last 2+ years. I actually have a credit so during the colder months and the panels my not accumulate as much. That credit helps that I continue to have a $0 bill with my electric provider

Very nice experience going with sunnova for solar and battery. Sales person Mr MO was great no sale pressure explained everything in detail answered all my questions addressed all my concerns. Gave me time to think over installation was great the crew was very professional picked up the trash left the place clean , mo made it point to co.e on installation day. Did follow up calls to make sure my system is working and I have enrolled in buy back program. Overall my experience was great with sunnova and with sales rep like Mr mo, has a customer I feel I am very satisfied and surely can recommend sunnova to my friends and family ... I did have 2 of my family meet with Mr mo and they are also happy to go solar.

by purchasing the panels we did we have seen many days where we did not incur any extra charges from the infamous APS who happen to be our primary supplier if EMF.. we thiught at first the power we bought was not enough but the learning curve over the past couple years has been a good lesson. we have kearned that thru certain precautions and measaures taken have enhanced our ussage but also has allowed us to brag about we have done with our monies wjhen it comes to purchasing solar panels and the ir usage! we have learned that it has been worth our time and our money to "practice what we preach" when it comes to good frugal usage of natures bountys available to us from and thru Sunnova Products..

The Icon/Sunnova sales rep was very straight forward and honest unlike some of the other solar sales reps I had encountered from other companies. He was very genuine and his continuing follow ups kept me in the loop. The installers were also on point and friendly guys. I liked that tue installation crew was from the company amd not a 3rd party installer. All start up instructions were sent via email amd if I had any questions, they were quickly answered via text or call from the sales rep and/or corporate support. In the first few days I'm already seeing energy generation credits vs. consumption, so I'm happy.

System was designed and installed inspected through County and State permitted rather quickly and have not had an issue with System since installation, saving a significant amount of money in the bill is pretty consistent now so yeah no pretty much what you're going to pay.

But it’s too soon to tell since the system just went live and I’ve yet to submit a monthly payment and have yet to see how much the new system is generating electricity.

We had a problem with the roofing company. We had air coming around the window and very cold in my bedroom. We had to keep the heat bumped up to 76 degrees to keep our bedroom warm. It took 2 weeks for someone to come out to fix it. Unfortunately, the problem was not fixed. Some came out on a Sunday at 8 am without notice to work on the exterior part. No one came to fix in interior. We had to pay $200 out of pocket to have someone come out to insulate around the window to keep the air out. The roof was replaced November 4th. Exterior was semi fixed November 26. (22 Days with heat up to 76 when is normally between 68-70) Sunnova was awesome. New Castle Roofing not so much.

I received notification on a Friday that the first payment was due the following Tuesday via email. Provided little time to set up electronic payment. Payment by mail would not have been possible.

My electrical bill is negative and I have not had to pay and electrical bill since I’ve installed the solar panels.
