The best Ask for Celia and Jayne. We looked at 6 companies and got bids. They work around everything. They coordinate needs. We put a new roof on and the worked with the contractors. We did cash and they gave amazing discounts and worked to make sure everything came through them as required. This is the best, now stay clear of Vivant and Freedom Forever. DANGEROUS. We did not go with them. They force a signed doc to get an onsite inspection and a quote. Their sales people told us things that are not in the contract. We cancelled in 36 hours. 6 months later they are demanding $3,000.00 for items the contract said they would pick up…. All items are in the box’s and new! Stay clear of Vivant and Freedom Forever. When you go with Smart Wave Solar, you have the best by far. Just look at the ratings. They will make anything right! SW/SLC

Smart Wave Solar was a company recommended to us and I'm so glad we had them install our system. I can say with confidence Smart Wave Solar is one of those rare companies that are true masters of their industry. They handled every step of the process. As we got further into the project I was taken back by all the coordination needed between power company, inspections, permits, and HOA. But Smart Wave Solar handled it all. It was evident they knew every step. When it came to actually installing the system it happened In a single day. If I had a question Bethany (their contact) responded within hours. If you are in the market for a Solar solution you'll find none better than Smart Wave Solar.

This is the second house, in Heber City Utah, that I had solar panels installed on and the process with Smart Wave was much easier and smoother than the previous home. Our energy consultant, Steve M, was fantastic. This guy knew his stuff, he didn't try to "BS" me and was very low pressure. He didn't try to upsell on anything we didn't need. Since I had been through the process before and learned some lessons I did have some specific requests. Smart Wave accommodated what I had asked for and the quote came out as expected. The only issue we had during the ordering process was more with the financing company but Steve and his team worked tirelessly to get that resolved. That issue was not on Smart Wave Solar and was entirely on the rep with the third party finance company. The install came sooner than I had anticipated. It was about a month from the date we had signed the agreements. The install team was led by Michael who was great. He walked me through what there plans were and informed me upfront that they would likely need to return the next day. They entire install crew was friendly, polite and very good to work with. As mentioned, they did return the next day and finished the job. After the install was completed about another month passed before the system could be turned on. This was to allow time for inspections to take place and a new meter to be installed. This part is outside of Smart Wave's control, but they sent me a message every Monday with what was happening, what they were waiting on and what to expect. I loved that they sent these little emails and text messages just so you wouldn't think you were forgotten and remained informed. The installer for my previous home did not do this and it was a lot of phone calls asking what's next. Once everything was approved, a quick email was sent with instructions on how to power on the system - which was super easy and anyone could do this part. The system came online and we were producing our own electricity. As with anything new, there were a couple small hiccups with the system that Smart Wave worked quickly to get resolved. Overall, the entire process was about 2.5 months. I was blown away that they did it that fast. In my other house it was almost 9 months. This is a good company and I have been impressed with how they operated. Are they perfect - no, but no one is so don't expect perfection. But they will certainly do their absolute best to achieve perfection and keep you happy which is more than most companies will do.

Smart Wave as a company was pretty good. I wish I had more education after the install (ie. how much I am producing vs. consuming, how to I find that information myself in the future). They had a problem with the wiring that they needed to come back and fix. But they did do that.

I expected to replace my electric bill with Xcel for the bill to pay for the solar panels and I'm still getting charged over $100 a month - even though the system SAYS it's working properly and is generating enough power for what my needs average. Clearly, there's some problem with either accessing the power or communication with Xcel that I've gone to solar. NEITHER company's customer service is any help. (I'd expect that from Xcel. There was good communication with Smart Wave during the install, but not anymore.) I'm frustrated!

For the most part I am happy with the system we installed. What I have communicated to Smart Wave is I think their system performance reporting is lacking. In the app provided I can only see how much power my system is generating. What I can’t see is how much power I am using from the grid. They tell me I can get that information from my monthly power bill. My son has Tesla solar and my boss has ES solar and they both get real time assessments for panel, grid and battery usage. I think total system reporting is way more valuable than just panel performance because I could make adjustments to my power usage patterns and see how I can better conserve. For example I run lamp post from dusk til about 10:30pm. I could turn that off for a cycle or two and assess the cost. I might also be able to assess the cost of large appliances like the washed and dryer on laundry day or a freeze dryer, etc. but I can’t do that, while other systems can. This feedback didn’t seem to mean too much to my Smart Wave consultant.

They had the best plan I found after researching several firms. Their support has been good. I wish I had known a little more about some of the hidden fees associated with being hooked up to and using power back from United Power Cooperative. I also realize that with persisting snow on the roof and my roof having a low pitch, I don't seem to be able to generate much electricity in the winter.

I received a top of the line system for what I think was good price. I chose to have it installed with a flexible time frame and it was broken up into quite a few installation pieces. Since they were new to Colorado there were several new employees training at each spot of the installation. The system has worked fine for about six months now and is performing above the expectations.

The comment about revealing finance options appears to have been resolved. I was ready to do the 20 Year solar loan until the sales representative explained the impact that had on the cost of the system. I went with a HELOC and got a better deal. The system's components are outstanding, as was customer service. They did forget to give me the free battery at install, but an email to my customer service rep resulted in a battery delivery the next day. Good people to work with; great product.

Smart Wave gave me the best price per kilowatt of generating capacity, and helped me through the long waiting required for permitting and inspections, by working efficiently whenever they were scheduled to be at my home. I have no complaints about the quality of their work. I had at least five estimates from different companies, and Smart Wave's stood out. I did not consider government rebates or incentives when comparing prices. I did not finance my system, and I believe that Smart Wave owns all their inventory, so that is overhead that customers don't have to cover with higher prices.

The sales pitch was very informative. Installation was quick and well done. I have had my system for a year now and have had no problems. My only complaint is the SMA Energy app is a little lame. It indicates how much energy is being generated but not how much is being used or returned to the electricity company.

Typically the only time we wouldn't install some of the solar panels would be if they weren't able to fit, and if that was the case, our protocol is to review that with you, the customer, and adjust your price accordingly. We liked the product and a non-pushy salesperson who educated us through the process. The financing is horrible, we are paying the highest interest ever but it is all up front so it is added to the tax refund and then you pay %1.5 after that. Not sure it is completely legal how it is presented. It isn't until after you find out if you don't give them 13K, what they think your tax refund will be your payment will go up another $40/month. I wish I would have searched harder for another lender.

Robert, I'm sorry to hear about the issues you've had with the financing of your solar purchase. The loan you used is how the vast majority of solar lenders structure their loans. It's the industry standard. I'm a numbers guy, so I've compared a variety of different loan options side by side, and it's extremely difficult to find a loan that will cost less (all things considered) than you loan you got. Even a HELOC often costs more in the long run than the solar loan you chose. I'm also sorry if it wasn't more clearly communicated upfront that the rates quoted to you assumed that you would be contributing your tax credit towards paying down the loan. We try to make that clear upfront through verbal communication, but as a full-proof backup plan, we make sure it is spelled out really well in the loan agreement in a way that customers can acknowledge they understand and don't just miss. I feel confident that if you had searched for other loans, you would have found out just how competitive this loan is, even compared to personal loans, HELOCs, and other solar loans. At the end of the day though, we are happy to help facilitate whatever financing method a customer chooses, whether it's paying cash, using one of the solar loans we recommend, or securing their own financing. We don't make money on the loans. We just try to provide the best options we've found to help customers make the transition to clean energy. We're here to help if you ever need anything.
