The Good

  • Solar Installation Process
  • In-House Roofing and Electrical
  • Solar Battery Options
  • Buy, Loan, Lease, and PPA Options
  • Additional Home Improvement Services

Solar Installation Process

The Infinity Energy solar process takes an average of 45 days to complete, which is faster than the industry average time of up to 60 days.

The solar installation process has multiple steps and phases from setting up panel scaffolding and installing solar mounts, to wiring panels and connecting solar inverters and batteries. Infinity Energy can move through the steps quickly because it handles all aspects of the solar installation process in-house, meaning there are no waiting periods while the company works with other companies and/or contractors to install your solar panels.

In-House Roofing and Electrical

Infinity Energy is a full-service rooftop solar installer, meaning the company handles everything from the initial consultation to solar system installation to the final walkthrough and interconnection. The company does not outsource work to third-party installers for its sales, design, or installation efforts, meaning homeowners will only have one solar company to keep track of throughout the entire process.

Solar companies that offer in-house services come with the added benefit of consistent service quality and a single point of contact for homeowners.

Solar Battery Options

Infinity Energy carries a variety of solar battery providers, such as Sonnec and Enphase. But its featured battery product is the Tesla Powerwall.

You can get a free solar battery quote on the Infinity Energy website, but installing a home battery can save you more money on your electricity bill in the long run by discharging during high peak times and backing up essential appliances when necessary.

Buy, Loan, Lease, and PPA Options

Infinity Energy provides customers with multiple financing options to fit their budget and energy needs. In addition to direct purchase, which requires the greatest upfront costs but provides the highest return on investment, customers can choose from any of the following:

  • Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) — Immediate savings by buying solar electricity at a lower rate than traditional utilities. No loan required, fixed monthly payment, path to solar PV system ownership, and warranty-protected.
  • Solar Lease — Fixed monthly payments lower than the utility bill, and no loan required. Ideal for customers on a fixed income because payments are the same every month. No installation or maintenance costs. Warranty coverage included.
  • Solar Loan — Qualifies for the Solar Tax Investment Credit and provides immediate savings and panel ownership. Systems financed through a loan are protected under warranty.

Additional Home Improvement Services

Infinity Energy doesn’t just install solar panel systems. All solar energy systems installed by Infinity Energy come with the option to install a Tesla Powerwall solar backup battery. The Powerwall comes with a 10-year warranty, is scalable up to 10 units, is off-grid compatible, and peaks at 7 kilowatt-hours.

The company’s expertise extends beyond solar panels and solar batteries; Infinity Energy is a roof expert as well. Infinity Energy provides repair, replacement, and installation services for commercial, metal, asphalt, and metal roofing. All roofing solutions come with a 50-year warranty and are expertly installed by Infinity Energy’s in-house team.

The Bad

  • Less Efficient Solar Panels
  • Undisclosed Workmanship Warranty
  • Limited to California and Texas
  • No NABCEP Certification

Less Efficient Solar Panels

Like most solar companies, Infinity Energy likely draws from multiple solar panel manufacturers to build its solar PV systems; however, in order to make its systems affordable, the company often uses panels from SunEdison, which produces inexpensive, lower-efficiency panels. SunEdison panels average around 17 percent energy efficiency, while leading panel manufacturers exceed 21 to 22 percent. Long term, this difference may not matter; SunEdison panels come with a 25-year equipment warranty.

Undisclosed Workmanship Warranty

While Infinity Energy’s equipment (panels and inverters) come with a 25-year warranty, the terms of its workmanship warranty (also called the labor or service warranty) are as yet undisclosed. The labor warranty protects the system against installation errors and necessary maintenance. Other sources reference a 10-year labor warranty, but this has not been as yet corroborated by Infinity Energy itself.

Limited to California and Texas

Infinity Energy is limited to home owners and business owners in California and Texas. While these states represent a significant service area in terms of square mileage and population, they also represent a highly competitive market, with a combined 1,000+ solar companies between the two states. Promoting verified Infinity Energy reviews, can be an effective way for the company to stand out and highlight the experiences of actual customers.

No NABCEP Certification

Infinity Energy does not appear to hold a certification from the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP). The NABCEP is considered the “gold standard” certification program in the solar industry, and signifies that a company has undergone advanced additional training on the best practices for solar installation and technology.

The lack of certification does not in any way imply poor service quality; however, it can be a difference-maker for customers comparing multiple companies and looking for a certified solar provider.

The Bottom Line

Infinity Energy is a full-service solar energy company that serves residents of Texas and California. The company designs and installs all solar systems in-house, cutting down the installation process time — the Infinity Energy installation process takes an average of 45 days, which is faster than the industry average of 60 days. In addition to solar panels, Infinity Energy also offers solar home batteries, which can help save you more money on your energy bills.

Infinity Energy is not NABCEP-certified, which doesn’t necessarily reflect poor service or quality, but a NABCEP certification does ensure that a company has undergone additional training on solar installation and technology best practices.
