Everything went fine until we started getting bills. We were told by Brinton that our cost would be $115.00 per month. Now we are paying the $115.00 plus additional charges from the power company which cost more than we paid before getting solar panels. We were lied to by Brinton and Ambia doesn't want to be bothered. DO NOT DEAL WITH AMBIA

On Feb 22nd 2025 Ambia Solar sent a sales representative to my home to discuss putting solar panels on my home with my wife and I. One of his names, and the name we knew him as was Richard V. Richard brought an apparent trainee with him, a young woman who’s name escapes me. He proceeded to sit with my wife and his trainee and state that if we put solar panels on our roof our electricity bill would be completely covered, not only that, but it will produce more than I need which will go back to the grid. So we win and DTE wins also. He stated that all we would pay going forward would be the loan for the solar panel installation. He verbally gave us details about the loan and how we would not pay for electricity. We had communication issues between DTE and them during the ensuing months do it took until June 22nd until I was hooked up and running. The July bill was messed up due to the transition to solar from DTE. Then my August bill comes and I get a $30 credit on my electricity. I called DTE and they verified the billing was correct per the contract. I am now paying $120 a month for the loan to get $30 credit on my electricity bill. So over all I am paying $90 more a month for basically the same amount of energy, for 25 years! There were a huge amount of lies told by him on this day. He told us that he was a co-owner of Ambia, he told us that is might even include the Gas as “the contract is for the entire bill and Gas in on the bill”. He also told us that our area is a hotspot for DTE and them so he would have a “party” to get subs and that we would get “thousands in referral money. I have texts from him confirming this particular lie. I contacted Ambia Solar about this. We had back and forth emails but bottom line they blew me off. They stated that “For anything that wasn't in the written contract, restitution has to be done through you and Mr. Vella himself”. Well it turns out that “Mr. V” no longer works for Ambia Solar. At that point I decided to Google “Mr. V”. It turns out that he is convicted criminal! To summarize. Ambia Solar sent a convicted criminal to my home to sell me solar. He lied on multiple occasions and scammed us into a 25 year contract for $120 a month that nets us $30 credit monthly. He knew that the program would not work for us so he lied to sucker us into this contract.

Hi Darren. Thank you for taking the time to leave this feedback. We understand your frustrations and share that frustration as well. Ambia no longer does business with this representative. While we do our best to vet our sales employees and provide thorough training on ethical sales practices that align with our core values, there is always the possibility that an individual may act outside of those expectations. We are happy to see that your system has already produced 61% of the estimated yearly production in the 41% of the year that is has been activated. As there are many contributing factors to your utility bill such as weather patterns, utility rates, and consumption patterns, savings are not something we can guarantee. Such is stated on the first page of the signed agreement. If you have any questions regarding your system performance, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us directly.

I sign a contract on the 4th of July 2025. Been on the fence about solar but the sales rep broke down everything nicely. Ge said I had 5 days to back out of the contract free of charge. After that it would cost around $500 or so. After an unforseen medical expense I decided I would have to break the contract so as not to put myself in deeper debt. On the 24th of July I texted my rep that I needed to break the contract. No reply. A couple days later I called their local office and explained the situation to a young woman. She said she would have to forward the information to their customer service team. I gave that about a week. No response. Called back on a Friday to see what the status was. Thewomen on the phone put me on hold trying to find someone to help me. I was told they had my information and someone would get back to me soon. The following week I got a text from Chad wanting to know if he could call me to cancel the contract and it would only take a couple minutes. I replied back that I was available. Heard nothing back. The next day I called the number Chad text me from. No answer. Went to a voice mail. That afternoon called them back asking to speak to someone about the contract. I was put on hold and then told a few minutes later there was nobody available and that someone would contact me soon. Tomorrow (8/15/25) make one week from the last time they said they would contact me. It will be almost three weeks from when I contacted them about canceling the contract. If this is how they treat people I'll never refer people looking for solar to use them. I will be contacting my local city administrator about their practices and also the energy company that they are installing the panels for.

If I could give this company zero stars, I would. My experience with Ambia has been extremely disappointing, marked by poor communication, unprofessional behavior, and what I believe to be dishonest business practices. Our installation was scheduled for May 30, 2025. On the day of the appointment, the installer arrived, inspected our roof, and immediately stated that they would not proceed with the solar panel installation because the roof needed to be replaced. This was frustrating and unexpected, especially since no prior concerns had been raised during the sales process. We decided to cancel the project at that point. However, a representative from Ambia, Chad, later contacted us and offered to include the cost of a new roof in our loan. We declined and reiterated our desire to cancel. Chad then informed us that we would be charged a $650 cancellation fee. I strongly objected, as I believe this situation could have been avoided had the original salesperson, Trent, properly inspected the roof during his initial assessment. After much back and forth, the company agreed to waive the cancellation fee. Shortly afterward, I received a $2,000 bill. When I questioned it, Chad claimed it was for a separate service—the sealing of our ducts. This was never clearly communicated to us as a standalone charge. During the sales process, Trent told us that duct sealing was a required part of the installation and did not mention that it was a separate service or that we would be liable for the full cost if the project was canceled. This feels misleading at best. I am still dealing with Ambia, now trying to obtain copies of the documents I signed electronically—none of which were ever provided to me. Despite multiple attempts to contact the company, I have received no response. In summary, I feel deceived and taken advantage of. I would not recommend Ambia to anyone. This experience has been frustrating, stressful, and costly.

Hi Melissa, thank you for this honest feedback. I understand how frustrating it can be when plans change unexpectedly, but calling off your project on the installation day was a decision made to protect your home and the investments you’ve made in it. We take several steps to make sure your roof is suitable for solar prior to installation day to help prevent situations like this. Our Sales Reps submit several photos of your home, roof, attic, and existing electrical system. These photos are then reviewed by our in-house design and engineering team and separately reviewed by a third party engineering firm. When our installers arrived to your home, they performed a standard safety assessment to see if any other damage had made itself apparent in the time between the initial assessment and installation. In your case, our installers found significant granule loss that wasn’t present in the initial photos taken.
Regarding Aeroseal, as the work was already completed, the associated charge is not a cancellation penalty, but payment for the services that were completed at the home. Details about unforeseen damages and the homeowner’s responsibility can be found on Page 18 Section 8 of your agreement. We also have record of your request for your contract and verification that it was sent to the email address associated with your project on July 11, 2025.

I replaced my roof a few weeks prior to having the ambia solar panels installed. After the panels were installed I went up on my roof and discovered a Lot of damaged shingles. The company has failed to respond to this issue. They said all that they can do is put some “sealant”. I spend a lot of money on a new roof that is supposed to last for over 20 years. Now lost my guarantee and I am left with a damage roof. PLEASE DO NOT GET SOLAR PANELS WITH THIS COMPANY. Not to mentioned the lies the seller told us…

Do not use Ambia. This is the most expensive mistake I have ever made. It has taken 6 months to get to this point. Despite our panels being turned on, Ambia is still not done with their job. The only thing that has gone right was the application and first install. Everything since then has been painful, difficult and time consuming. To start, after installation, it took a month for the inspection to happen. Ambia blamed the city. I don’t believe that as I have never had those issues before (and other reasons I’ll address shortly). The first inspection failed. It took weeks to reschedule maintenance. I felt terrible for the tech because he came in the evening during below zero temps, spent hours the first night and another one or two hours the second night. The repeat inspection was schedule more quickly when I called in frequently. There were still issues with the work, but the inspector allowed the Ambia tech to correct them on the spot. The building inspection surprisingly passed the first time, but Ambia did not collect the information they needed and wanted us to do it. The meter witness test took another 4-6 weeks to schedule. It failed the first time. That poor tech had to come out on a Sunday. The rescheduled test still had issues, but thankfully the Xcel person was willing to let Ambia correct them on the spot. I do not fault the technicians. All the technicians were friendly and punctual. The problem is with Ambia leadership. This company is so compartmentalized very few people actually know what is going on. We received more wrong information than anything. In most cases, I do not believe this was intentional. For instance, when Abbey and Parker from customer support told me their supervisor, Bree would be in touch with me. I like to think they believed that. However, Bree never reached out to me. I received a single, unsigned, unhelpful email and no more. I appreciated Tania from interconnections. She was kind and did her best to help, even when she didn’t know anything about the process. She tried to explain the timeline for passing a meter test, but gave an incorrect timeline (one of the only times incorrect information worked to our advantage as it took less time than she said.) I appreciated her efforts, especially after speaking with Rachel in her department, who outright lied to me. She was in charge of scheduling our meter test with Xcel. She told me there was no phone number to call; she could only contact them by email. I wanted to call Xcel to check on the status, since we were already at 5 months into this process and not getting good information from Ambia. Not only was I able to find a number, I also received a call back from Xcel. When it came time for Rachel to schedule our second test, I verified with her the timeframe Xcel normally respond and said if I didn’t hear back from her, I would call her by then. When I called, she refused to answer, gave Tania incorrect information, and was on the phone with Xcel and had the date within 15 mins. She apologized after I sent a recap of the conversation to the text message everyone in Ambia has access to. At every step of this process, we had to call Ambia to get anything done. It was as if they lost our file after each step. Instead of using case managers, they have departments that do not communicate or work together. No one is aware of what the other is doing which leads to chaos and misinformation. On multiple occasions we were told we did not need to be present for that step. Every time we were told that, we needed to be there. We had to leave work and take time off due to Ambia’s lack of training/communication/understanding of the process. Ambia’s lack of concern for their business practices is concerning at best and fraudulent at worst. They take payment upfront and nothing matters after that. We got shoddy work, failed inspections and months of having to track down employees to do their jobs for tens of thousands of dollars. It’s always someone else’s fault. They city’s fault or Xcel’s. Once mine for asking for appointments on my off days.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. While we’re happy to know that your initial application and installation went smoothly, we fully acknowledge that the post-installation experience did not meet the high standard of service we strive to provide.

It's important to note that the majority of the post-installation process requires involvement from your city jurisdiction and utility company, and is subject to their scheduling for inspections and final utility tests.

We’ve taken your concerns seriously and, as a result, implemented organizational changes to improve coordination between departments and ensure more timely, accurate updates for customers throughout the post-installation process.

We’re also pleased to see your system has now been granted Permission to Operate. To help make things right, we’re happy to reimburse any solar loan payments made prior to your system becoming active. Please send confirmation of those payments to help@ambiasolar.com, and we will get that process started right away.

Your employee Sam Waldrip harassed my neighbor by pretending to be unable to read a sign that said "NO SOLICITORS" and screaming for help when he was asked to leave the property. His actions were totally uncalled for, and I've already contacted all my friends and family to warn them not to trust your company.

We appreciate you bringing it to our attention. It’s completely unacceptable for anyone representing our company to speak disrespectfully to a homeowner.

Following an internal review, we’ve ended our relationship with the representative involved. This is not reflective of the standards we hold for our team.

Communication is terrible, took months longer than I was told. Ultimately, I only cover 50% of my bill instead of 105-110% as promised. I pay more now than I would if I didn't buy the panels. Update (04/27/2025): This entire review can be 6 paragraphs long with complaints about this company. Even their employees have confessed to me on the phone that their internal structure of the company is mess. No wonder they cant keep anybody working there for longer than a month. Anyway my newest and latest complaint! I have a warranty claim that needs done and have been contact them since November to get this fixed. Always the same answer - our repair team will be in touch with you! This never happens we are 5 months later and I still have a gapping hole in my soffit. On top of that I have hornets living in my attic now since Ambia gave them a very nice entry way direct into my attic. IF YOU ARE READING THIS RUN DO NOT CHOOSE AMBIA!!!!!

Although they took over for another company that didn't complete the paperwork for our system, they've largely sat on this project for 10 months now. We just discovered that someone told EverBright (panel owners) that the system was complete and functional. The only problem is, it's not operational because it's still shut off. Everyone we've contacted for the past two months has said this is an installer's job, to turn on the system, and nearly 8 weeks later we finally received an email saying I could turn my own system on, or wait another 2+ weeks for them to come out and do it. We cannot get a straight answer here, the system has been installed now for over a year, everyone EXCEPT Ambia (today) has said we're not supposed to turn our own system on and we've lost $1000's waiting for this to be operational and "on" without so much as a "we're sorry" from these guys. EverBright says any rebates, discounts, back pay has to come from Ambia, and, you guessed it, Ambia says that anything like that would come from EverBright. Meanwhile, we've lost money for nearly 12 months now and have to go start the system ourselves which is exactly the OPPOSITE of what everyone else has told us we're supposed to do.

absolute nightmare. Incompetent, allot of excuses and apologies. No actual results. The install of just the Pannels took 3 days. Failed their own inspection. Returned to install parts they forgot. Then the month delays started. Just failed the city inspection. waiting to hear about the next month-long delay. Honestly a sixth grader with a glue stick would be more competent Avoid Ambia any way you can.

Well, here we are waiting for the 4th inspection on a system that was install last year (August 2023). The KEY TERMS of the purchase agreement signed 25 May 2023: Approximate Start Date - 9 July 2023. Approximate Completion Date - 7 October 2023. The installation in August 2023 was done without a permit from Arapahoe County (Colorado). Ambia failed to timely submit required documentation, and did not achieve a permit until 6 June 2024! I am concerned that the system they sold me will deliver the savings promised! ...if it ever passes inspection and gets commissioned. NOT IMPRESSED

Ambia Solars door to door salesman have ignored my "No Solicitation" sign twice in the past week, and been argumentative when asked to leave. This tells me everything I need to know about how bad of a company it is to allow this type of behavior. Stay far away!
