Seeing the spike in pet adoptions during the pandemic, Zoetis wanted to see more pet parents be able to properly care for their dog or cat. The company's goal is to increase the rate of pet insurance nationwide by bringing a unique choice to the market, even including preventative care.

Choice of Care Facility
When your pet is sick or hurt, you can take them to any licensed veterinarian in the Unite States or Canada for treatment and pay as usual when you leave. With Pumpkin, you digitally upload your receipt with the claim details and will be reimbursed 90 percent of covered costs up to the annual limit, after your annual deductible has been met.
Cured Pre-existing Conditions Are Covered
Pumpkin plans don’t cover “pre-existing conditions” that occur or show symptoms before coverage starts or during a waiting period. However, if a pre-existing condition is curable (e.g., UTI, paw fracture), was cured, and your pet has been free of symptoms and treatment for 180 days, Pumpkin plans will cover it if it occurs again in the future, except for knee and hind leg ligament conditions.
Dental Coverage
Pumpkin plans cover dental illnesses (including periodontal disease), along with exams, X-rays, treatment, surgery, and prescription meds. Pumpkin plans also cover tooth extractions for dental injuries.
Discount for Multiple Pets
Pumpkin offers a 10 percent "Fur Family Discount" that provides 10 percent off a plan for each additional pet you enroll.
Preventive Essential Wellness Package
Pumpkin offers an optional preventative wellness benefit you can add to your plan, which includes a wellness exam, vaccinations at the vet, parasite screening tests, and monthly flea tick and heartworm medicine shipped to your home.

Pumpkin Pet Insurance knows its business. With lots of experience in the industry, the company seems to genuinely want pets cared for and people to be able to afford that care. Pumpkin Pet isn’t going to be the cheapest in the market, but it also won’t be the most expensive. If you appreciate a service that does the thinking for you as far as making sure your dog has had his monthly heartworm medicine, this company may be a great option for you.
