The Bad

  • Plan Coverage
  • Claims Reimbursement
  • Lack Of A Mobile App

Plan Coverage

PetPartner only offers two coverage plans and they aren’t as extensive as other pet insurance company plans. Customers can select from the Accident Only Coverage plan which includes:

  • Accidents
  • Laboratory Tests
  • X-Rays, Ultrasounds, MRI/CAT Scans
  • Surgery
  • Hospitalization
  • Prescribed Medications
  • Euthanasia
  • Extractions of Permanent Teeth

Or customers can choose the Accident & Illness Coverage plan which includes everything from the Accident Only Plan but also includes illness and cancer coverage. If pet owners want to add additional coverage (routine care plans, hereditary coverage, exam care) to their plans, they can, but this will cost them more.

Claims Reimbursement

It takes PetPartners 30 days to process claims, and even then, it can only distribute them through a check mailed to a customer, not more quickly through direct deposit. This adds up to long wait time for reimbursements.

Lack Of A Mobile App

PetPartners lacks a mobile app which many other pet insurance companies offer. The app is useful for members to easily file claims, check a claim's status, update account information, and more through the phone lines.

The Bottom Line

Pet owners will certainly benefit from an insurance plan from PetPartners, as they can customize their plan and only get the coverage they want. Customers can take their pet to any veterinary hospitals in the U.S. and Canada and have peace of mind that they’re pet is covered in case an unexpected accident or illness occurs.

However, customers should note that the two base plans offered basic coverage needs, but other pet insurance companies are definitely more generous in their pet insurance coverage.  Another feature other companies in the industry that PetPartners lacks is a mobile app. Many customers like the convenience of being able to look up account information, filing a claim, etc., all from their phone.
