The Good

  • Affordable Pricing
  • Wide Product Range
  • Energy-Efficient
  • Strong Warranty Options
  • Customizable

Affordable Pricing

One of the key advantages of choosing MI Windows is their competitive pricing. Depending on the type of window and its specifications, the average cost for MI Windows ranges between $300 to $800 per window, including installation. This makes MI Windows an affordable option compared to other premium brands in the market, which often exceed $1,000 per window. MI has several budget-friendly options available without compromising quality.

  • Single-Hung Windows: $300 - $500 per window
  • Double-Hung Windows: $400 - $700 per window
  • Casement Windows: $400 - $800 per window
  • Sliding Windows: $350 - $600 per window

The final price can vary based on factors like window size, frame material, glass options, and local labor costs.

Wide Range of Window Styles

MI Windows offers a broad selection of window types to suit various architectural styles and functional needs. Their product lineup includes single-hung and double-hung windows, casement windows, sliding windows, picture and geometric windows, and awning windows. This variety ensures that homeowners can find the right style to fit their design preferences and functional requirements.

Energy-Efficient Options

MI Windows emphasizes energy efficiency, offering products that meet or exceed ENERGY STAR® standards. Their windows are equipped with advanced glazing technologies, such as Low-E (low emissivity) coatings and dual-pane insulated glass, which help reduce heat transfer and maintain a comfortable indoor climate. This focus on energy efficiency can lead to significant savings on heating and cooling costs throughout the year, making MI Windows a smart choice for eco-conscious homeowners.

Strong Warranty Options

MI Windows provides a Limited Lifetime Warranty for their residential window products, covering defects in materials and workmanship. The warranty includes 20 years of coverage for insulated glass components against seal failure, as well as 10 years for hardware. The coverage is transferable to a new homeowner, which can be an attractive selling point if you plan to sell your home in the future.

Customization Options

MI Windows allows homeowners to customize their windows according to specific needs, including options for frame color, grid patterns, and glass types. This flexibility ensures that the windows can be tailored to match the aesthetic and functional requirements of different homes, offering a personalized solution that enhances curb appeal.

The Bad

  • Limited Availability
  • Basic Design Options
  • No Online Visualizer

Limited Availability in Some Regions

While MI Windows is a national brand, their availability can be limited in certain regions, especially in rural areas. Customers may need to work with specific dealers or contractors to source MI Windows, which can be inconvenient for some homeowners. This could also result in longer lead times for ordering and installing the windows, depending on local demand.

Basic Design Options Compared to Premium Brands

While MI Windows offers a wide range of customization options, their design choices may not be as varied or luxurious as those offered by higher-end brands. Homeowners looking for unique finishes, premium hardware, or ultra-modern designs might find MI Windows' offerings a bit more basic. However, for those focused on affordability and practicality, this might not be a major drawback.

No Online Visualizer

Unfortunately, you'll have to use your imagination when visualizing MI's windows on your home. Unlike many other window companies, MI does not have a visualization tool to help you choose which windows you want on your house.

The Bottom Line

MI Windows and Doors offers a practical and affordable solution for homeowners looking to upgrade their windows without breaking the bank. With a wide selection of styles, energy-efficient options, and a strong warranty, they cater well to those seeking reliable performance and durability. While their designs may lack some of the premium finishes available from high-end brands, the overall value provided by MI Windows makes them a solid choice for budget-conscious buyers. If you're looking for windows that balance cost, efficiency, and longevity, MI Windows could be a fitting option for your next home improvement project.

No customer service when it comes to replacing a failed window. We were told there was a life time warranty on the windows and when we called we were told it only pertained to the original owner of the house. This house is only 7 years old, really, good windows should last much longer than that. We said we would pay for the replacement window and asked if they could send the area rep to measure the window and we were told they did not do that, only under the original warranty. This does not seem like good customer service. As we need to replace sections of windows or whole windows, we will NOT be using Mi Windows.

Over the 10 yrs I owned my home I had to replace 19 window that lost the seal. Granted that the windows were supplied under the warranty but I had to pay shipping and pay to have them installed. It also created a big inconvenience since the window shades had to be removed, furniture moved and in the case of a couple of windows I had to pay someone to remove and reinstall the shutters that were on those windows. I just think having issues with 19 windows shows poor quality. I do have to give credit to Zack who came to do the recent replacement, he was neat, efficient and very professional.

Buyer beware!!! We have MI windows and they are terrible. When it is cold out in the winter, we have ice on the inside of the windows. Now we have mold forming from the ice and water on the inside of the windows. The house is Just 4 years old and we feel drafts next to the windows. A my customer service is the worst, telling us this is all normal when it's cold out. No it is not normal, we had new windows in our previous home and never had any of these issues. Do not buy!!

We just dropped $30k on new MI windows. 1) We order sculptured grids but windows were delivered without 2) MI sent a contracted company out to apply the grids... the guy cut and applied the wrong grids (flat and the thickness of cardboard) to the window. The grids he did apply were cut using a razor knife (shoddy cuts) and over 80% of the grids were cut too small leaving gaps... ie grids don't even meet up to the window edge... we tried to dump the windows back to dealer but they advised MI would handle... meanwhile MI has yet to send anyone out. We reported this a MONTH AGO!

Mi windows are worst windows and frames you could buy and install. Builders are choosing this product because it's cheap. Even new windows leak very bad. We are 50 house community every house had issues with in first 5-6 years an average. Spend your money with other good company. Issues:BAD Leadk Drift Frames will not hold the shape- gap between frame and window. Workmanship

They claim they are on time! 1. Right now they are 4 weeks behind on my job with one plate glass window. 2. On two custom 10 foot sliders which have 3 glass panels, one panel on each set, the locks are on the outside! Oooh, how safe is that!?

I would give 0 stars if I could! My home was built in 2003. 75% of my window seals are bad and windows are fogged up. I would run from any home that has MI windows. The warranty does not apply to me because I am the second owner and bought the home when it was 1 year old.

MI windows are the worst! Do not buy a house with these windows unless you can afford to replace them. The windows look like they have oil in them I am assuming because the seal goes bad. Do not , open the windows because the plastic dry rots. I could go on but, I won’t. Beware of these windows.
