Average Project Cost: $150 - $950

Jeld-Wen Windows offers a wide variety of affordable window and door products with solid customer support and over 50 years of industry experience. Their products are available widely across the U.S., but some customers feel that they fall short in terms of warranty length, offering only 10 years of coverage compared to competitors' 20 years. Despite this, Jeld-Wen remains a trusted brand with a solid reputation for reliability and service.

The Bad

  • Warranty Limitations
  • Premium Price Point
  • High Installation Cost

Limited Warranty

One downside of JELD-WEN is their limited warranty, which, while comprehensive, has received mixed reviews from customers regarding ease of filing claims. They offer a limited lifetime warranty on vinyl windows, a 20-year warranty on glass, and varying coverage for wood and aluminum-clad products, with their AuraLast® wood product protection for 20 years against rot and termites. However, the warranty excludes normal wear and tear and improper installation.

Premium Price Point

Compared to other window manufacturers, JELD-WEN windows tend to be on the pricier side, especially for wood and custom models. While the quality and energy efficiency may justify the cost for many, budget-conscious homeowners may find these windows less affordable than alternatives like vinyl-only brands.

The average cost of JELD-WEN windows are between $150 to $950 per window depending on material, window type, size, customization options, and installation fees. Below is a general breakdown of the costs:

  • Vinyl Windows: $300 to $700 per window (including installation)
  • Wood Windows: $700 to $1,200 per window (including installation)
  • Aluminum-Clad Wood Windows: $900 to $1,500 per window (including installation)
  • Custom or Specialty Windows: Prices can exceed $2,000 per window, depending on the design and materials

Since these prices are averages, it is important to note that cost can fluctuate depending on your geographic location, window size, and the specific dealer or installer. Additionally, the installation costs can add around $100 to $500 per window, depending on labor rates and job complexity.

High Installation Cost

While JELD-WEN provides an extensive network of dealers and certified installers, the cost of installation can vary widely depending on your location and the complexity of the job. Improper installation can also affect the performance and longevity of the windows, so it’s essential to ensure you hire a qualified installer.

The Bottom Line

JELD-WEN has been in business for over 60 years, allowing them to develop a strong brand that customers love and trust. They offer a wide variety of durable products, making it easy to find exactly what you are looking for. JELD-WEN stands behind their energy-efficient and sustainable products and are committed to helping eco-conscious homeowners. However, if you are looking for a company that offers more budget-friendly options and a strong warranty program, you might need to look elsewhere.

Purchased some bi-fold doors from Lowe's and the doors failed. They have a quality issues with these specific doors. There's many reviews with the same problem. The company knows they have a problem with these doors. They rely on customers not keeping receipts and then not honoring a problem that they are aware is happening by stating to the customer that they didn't keep the receipt. As a homeowner most people do keep a receipt of a item that shouldn't have a problem. I showed a receipt for a replacement of the doors and even though the doors are supposed to have a 5 year warranty they will not honor the problem that they are aware they have by many other customers reporting the same problem. Never will I ever buy another door by Jeld-wen. Very poor customer service and extremely bad quality

Bought set of French doors with the blinds enclosed and within two weeks one of the blinds got hung up. Another two weeks were spent trying to get a warranty initiated. Then they wanted to order and send us the parts to repair our own door. I said no. Jason Ludwig | CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE REPRESENTATIVE told me it would take two more months for the parts to come in. I asked the day after they were due in if they had arrived, and Jason said he didn't know. I waited ten days and asked him again as my case handler. He again said he did not know. He did not ever send a request to verify according to their customer service three days later. Poorly constructed doors Warranty Department hard to get a case initiated with Warranty still not validated 3 months later

Terrible product. Terrible customer service. We built a house and ordered these windows on special order. It took forever to get them. When the framers started putting them in they called me over and showed me how out of square and screwed up the windows were. We were already 2 months behind schedule and had to get them in. I told them to do the best they could and i would contact Jeldwen. Windows don't close. Windows don't lock. Glue all over them. Bug between glass. Can't get top section to come down to clean. Service came out to look at them and said it was install error. On 14 windows?? We had the best framers in KC. I call BS. THEY DO NOT STAND BY THEIR PRODUCT!! HINDSIGHT, I wish i would have returned these and ordered Anderson or Pella.

I would never purchase another Jeld-wen window in my lifetime. Their warranty Department is horrible. Don't trust Misty. The windows came damaged and they leak horribly. I was told a year ago someone would come out and repair my windows. Been given the run around!
