The Good

  • Durable Premium Fibrex® Composite Material
  • Wide Range of Customization Options
  • Energy-Efficient SmartSun™ Glass Options
  • Professional Installation by Certified Installers
  • Comprehensive Warranty Coverage

Premium Fibrex® Composite Material for Durability and Efficiency

Renewal by Andersen’s windows are made from Fibrex®, a proprietary composite material that combines wood fibers and thermoplastic polymers. This material provides the strength and durability of wood with the low-maintenance benefits of vinyl, making it resistant to issues like warping, cracking, and peeling. Fibrex® offers high insulation, which helps improve energy efficiency by reducing heat transfer. Renewal by Andersen’s windows also have narrower frames, allowing for larger glass areas and improved views without compromising structural integrity.

Wide Range of Customization Options

Renewal by Andersen offers a comprehensive selection of customization options, allowing homeowners to tailor their windows to fit their home’s architectural style and aesthetic preferences. Customers can choose from various frame colors, interior finishes, hardware styles, grille patterns, and glass options. The windows are available in multiple styles, including:

  • Double-Hung Windows: Classic design with two operable sashes that tilt in for easy cleaning.
  • Casement Windows: Hinged at the side and crank-operated for optimal ventilation.
  • Awning Windows: Hinged at the top and designed to open outward, ideal for rainy climates.
  • Sliding Windows: Offer ease of use in tight spaces with a sleek, modern look.

Picture and Specialty Windows: Fixed windows for unobstructed views, as well as specialty shapes like circles, arches, and triangles for unique design accents.
With this level of customization, Renewal by Andersen can match a wide range of design preferences, providing windows that align with the homeowner’s vision and enhance curb appeal.

High Energy Efficiency with SmartSun™ Glass Options

Renewal by Andersen offers several energy-efficient glass options, including their SmartSun™ glass, which is designed to block 95% of harmful UV rays and reduce heat transfer. SmartSun™ glass is ideal for warmer climates, while PassiveSun™ glass provides better insulation for colder climates. Many Renewal by Andersen windows meet or exceed ENERGY STAR® standards, helping homeowners reduce their heating and cooling costs year-round. The combination of Fibrex® frames and high-performance glass options makes Renewal by Andersen windows an excellent choice for those seeking to improve their home’s energy efficiency.

Professional Installation by Certified Installers

Renewal by Andersen provides full-service installation, handled by their team of certified installers. Unlike DIY options or third-party contractors, Renewal by Andersen’s professional installation ensures that each window is custom-fit and installed to exacting standards. Proper installation is essential for maximizing the window’s energy efficiency and longevity, making this service a key advantage for homeowners who want to avoid installation issues that can impact performance. Each installation is backed by a warranty, offering peace of mind for homeowners investing in premium windows.

Comprehensive Warranty Coverage

Renewal by Andersen offers a limited warranty that covers multiple aspects of their windows, providing homeowners with solid protection. The warranty includes:

  • 20 years on Fibrex® material and glass, covering defects in manufacturing and performance.
  • 10 years on hardware components like locks and hinges, ensuring smooth operation.
  • 2 years on installation, guaranteeing workmanship and addressing any installation-related issues.

The warranty is transferable to a new homeowner. While some companies offer a lifetime warranty, Renewal by Andersen’s warranty is highly comprehensive, reflecting the company’s confidence in the durability of their Fibrex® material and energy-efficient glass.

The Bad

  • Premium Pricing
  • Limited Material Options
  • Regional Availability

Premium Pricing Compared to Other Brands

Renewal by Andersen’s windows are known for their high quality, but they come with a premium price tag. The cost per window can range from $1,000 to $2,500, including installation, with larger or specialty windows priced even higher. For budget-conscious homeowners, these prices may be a barrier, especially when compared to brands that offer lower-cost vinyl or fiberglass options. While the premium cost is justified by the product’s durability and energy efficiency, it may not suit every budget. Here is a general cost breakdown:

  • Double-Hung and Sliding Windows: $1,000 - $1,700 per window, including installation.
  • Casement and Awning Windows: $1,200 - $2,000 per window, including installation.
  • Specialty and Picture Windows: $1,500 - $2,500 per window, depending on size and customization.

These prices vary based on factors like window size, glass options, and customization choices. Renewal by Andersen offers financing options, including monthly payment plans, making it easier for homeowners to spread out the cost over time.

Limited Material Options (Only Fibrex®)

Renewal by Andersen exclusively uses Fibrex® composite material for their frames, which, while durable and low-maintenance, limits material choices for customers who may prefer wood, vinyl, or fiberglass. Fibrex® combines the best properties of wood and vinyl, but homeowners specifically seeking traditional wood aesthetics or alternative materials may need to explore other brands. Although Fibrex® performs exceptionally well, some customers may prefer a broader range of material options.

Availability Through Select Regions Only

Renewal by Andersen operates through franchises, and availability is limited to specific regions across the United States. Homeowners outside of these service areas may not have access to Renewal by Andersen products or certified installers. In some locations, the limited number of dealers can also impact scheduling flexibility, particularly during peak seasons. Customers in regions without nearby Renewal by Andersen locations may need to consider other brands with a more extensive geographic reach.

The Bottom Line

Renewal by Andersen is an experienced window and door installation company that focuses on high-quality, energy-efficient windows crafted from exclusive Fibrex® composite material, combining the durability of wood with the low-maintenance benefits of vinyl. With prices ranging from $1,000 to $2,500 per window, including installation, these premium windows come in various styles like double-hung, casement, and specialty shapes, allowing for extensive customization. Their SmartSun™ glass and other glass options improve energy efficiency, while professional installation ensures optimal performance. Backed by a comprehensive 20-year warranty on glass and Fibrex® materials, a 10-year hardware warranty, and a 2-year installation warranty, Renewal by Andersen windows provide long-term value for homeowners seeking durability and custom design.

My windows were old and let in a cool draft in the winter time and so I called Ansdesen for an estimate to see about replacing the windows in my ranch style 1950-built home. They were very prompt in the estimate and gave me a fair price with an estimate of the savings I would have over heating costs and also cooling costs in the summer. In less than 30 days my windows were replaced and my electric bill has gone down significantly since having it done. I was mostly surprised that my cooling costs in the summer were lowered as much as they were as I would not have expected the results to be comparable to Winter months.. The Installation only took 3 days And the new windows are triple paint and look great. And as time goes by I'm not only more energy efficient but the 8 windows will pay for themselves in time.

The Rep that came out initially, Edwin, was professional, trustworthy and really was trying to help us without financially burdening us. The crew that did the install were professional and thorough. All the follow up after installation was handled exactly as Edwin said it would. Great job AND the product looks amazing!

We chose Anderson windows and doors in our lake house because they have a great reputation for high quality. They are double paned and they do not let a lot of energy in or out saving us money in heating or cooling our house. They are easy to clean and look very clear and so pretty. They are something that we will not have to replace for a very long time.

I have build 3 homes in the past 15 years and while in design and construction I decided to use Andersen Windows. They are good looking and love the way they perform. They make your home look great and provide proper air flow and operate with ease of use. When build a new home or upgrading your windows in your current home I highly recommend these products.

Met them at the zoo and filled out for their free window contest, I didn’t win but they called me later to see if I was interested in buying new windows. Their sales team is very friendly and will answer all your questions. I like how they make sure you need to actually replace your windows instead of trying to sell you something you don’t need. They are a good company that follows up with you to make sure you have everything you need.

Recently the lawn mower plugged a rock through the front window of the house. We have double-pane glass windows and fortunately, the rock went through one pane, not both. I called around. I contacted Renewal by Andersen of Central Virginia. They had an agent contact me about a free estimate on a replacement pane. Some places wanted to replace the entire window. That is costly and unnecessary. They can measure the glass, special order a cut piece, and bring it out to the residence for installation. Time and cost savings.

We had bought a foreclosed home and the windows were "new' as in less than 10 years old but on windy day we could hear and feel air coming through the sealed windows so we requested quotes and Renewal by Andersen provided us with a fair estimate. They were able to schedule us within a few weeks and completed the job in a timely manner with professionalism and quality. I would highly recommend them.

Several years ago, my husband and I noticed that the wooden frames of the large screens on our screened porch were beginning to rot and fall apart. The screens also let dust and rain into the porch which made a muddy mess during bad storms. We knew we had to do something and soon. Since we had always heard good things about Andersen windows, we called Renewal by Anderson. A rep came out to assess the situation. He showed us a sample of the type of Andersen window with sun-blocking screens that would be best for our porch. He explained that some of the rotting frames would have to be rebuilt so each new window would fit properly. We agreed to purchase ten new windows to replace the old screens. An Andersen employee came to our home a few days later to measure each of the ten existing screens and their wood frames. The employee, who carefully measured each screen and frame at least twice, told us that none of the screens or frames on our porch were the same size. He said the new Andersen windows would be made individually to fit each existing frame exactly. Several weeks went by. We received a call that our windows were ready. It was exciting to see the transformation of our porch after the frames had been replaced/repaired and the new windows had been installed. Absolutely beautiful! No more muddy, wet porch! The new porch windows match the other windows in our house perfectly. We were delighted that the new windows have tilt features to make them easy to clean. We definitely will call Andersen for any window replacements needed in the future. Renewal by Andersen is a trustworthy company that delivers what it promises.

I had a window and also a sliding glass door replaced a few years ago and we went with Anderson because of the good reputation. So far both are holding up and functioning perfectly. No condensation in between the glass, like we had with the old ones and they open and close like a dream. Will definitely use them again. The only negative about the company are the door-to-door salespeople who are very pushy and always arrive at exactly the wrong time.

I have over 16 windows in my 2 story house and wanted to get an honest and fair estimate about how much it would take and which windows were right for my particular façade. Andersen Windows was my go to guy, they were both clear and straightforward. All the charges and even installation charge were told to me upfront. I knew what I was getting and for how much...to avoid conflict in the future with such a large job. No nonsense quality work!!

The product is amazing, even making custom-sized window for my bathroom to replace the glass blocks that were there. Any issue I had (buzzing insect that got inside the edging on one window) like my back door squeaking, they were right out to fix the problem and inspect all windows to see if anything else was needed. Their warranty is fantastic and they did the install of 6 windows in 1 day.

Andersen Windows I feel doesn’t get the recognition that it deserves enough. The only reason I knew they existed is from a family friend working there. When we decided to update the windows in our house we picked Andersen Windows righht from the start. They came and measured and gave us an estimate that was lower than we expected. The quality of service is 100 perfect.

I like Anderson windows and I have for a long time... I had a little cabin in the woods way back and the first time I started to renovate it was new windows... back then it just came down to money I thought they were all the same, but I was so wrong during the first winter and I could feel the cold frigid air blowing threw them... so I went back and bought two and the changes made such a big difference that first snow storm and I've been with Anderson windows for the last thirty years...

Took 8months to get the windows and had numerous issues with locking and insulation. They sent out a service guy Martin who was rude and basically told me I don't install windows so my opinion is worthless. Ive never had a service person be so loud and unprofessional. I reached out to the office to follow up and they said my ticket was closed. I can't believe I got convinced into spending this kind of money for such a poor experience. Get some employees that care if you want to charge 2x the competition. I had Marvin windows put in my family room a year ago with no issues. They pre-finished the trim for those, Andersen sent out a painter to do it onsite. Just another 2 week wait with no blinds until he arrives. I would not recommend. Based on my experience with Marvin I believe this company does not deliver on their promises. My entire home remodel has been prolonged 6 MONTHS waiting for Andersen. The kitchen was to be finished and we are just resuming work now. Buyer be aware

I used Renewal by Andersen to replace 21 windows in my home. They left trash around my house after the installation. The wood trim was terrible. The trim is crooked, bowed, rough, and they left marks on it. When I complained, I was offered $300 as compensation... <1% of the total cost. I was shown casement windows that were easy to clean and mine don't work like the ones I was shown. Now after the rain recently, water flooded into my basement through the 9 month old windows. I will be paying these windows off for the next 10 years.
