The Good

  • Coverage
  • Pricing Factors
  • Types of Motorcycles Insured

Coverage

State Farm works to ensure the safety of you, your bike, and other individuals on the roads. To best do this, the following are covered in its motorcycle insurance policies:

  • Bodily injury to someone else or damage to someone else's property for which you are legally responsible while riding your motorcycle
  • Bodily injury to yourself because caused by an uninsured motorist
  • Damage to your motorcycle caused by an accident
  • Theft, fire, vandalism, and other losses — even while your motorcycle is in storage for the winter
  • Custom motorcycle work, such as paint or upgraded components
  • Attached side cars
  • Emergency roadside expenses
  • Damage to protective gear
  • Trip interruption expenses

Pricing Factors

The cost of motorcycle insurance depends on a number of factors. Some include the type of motorcycle, your location, and the coverage selections. If you want to know more about what the pricing would look like for your particular bike, contact an agent.

Types of Motorcycles Insured

A wide variety of motorcycles are out on the roads and it is important when looking for motorcycle insurance to be sure that the companies you are looking at provide coverage for your particular make and model of motorcycle. Bikes insured by State Farm include the following:

  • Factory-built motorcycles
  • Motor scooters
  • Classic motorcycles
  • Minibikes
  • Custom motorcycles
  • Trail bikes

The Bad

  • Lack of Information

Lack of Information

When you are researching motorcycle insurance, you are not likely going to want to visit a number of locations, make numerous phone calls, and then have to analyze the information you collect. It would be much easier if the information was made available to you online. State Farm has not done a great job providing information online regarding its motorcycle insurance policies.

If you want to get a quote, you need to call an agent. If you have questions about pricing, you are told to call an agent. If you are unsure whether your bike can be insured, you need to call an agent. Are any discounts offered? Call an agent. Any other questions? Call an agent. Finding the right motorcycle insurance would be much easier if State Farm were to put more information online so that customers didn’t have to constantly call agents.

The Bottom Line

If you are looking for an insurance provider that sports financial security, you are looking at a great company. You will need to call an agent to get a quote and discuss possible discounts, but if you are okay with that, State Farm would be a wonderful option to insure your motorcycle. We recommend giving it a chance to see if this fits your budget and your lifestyle.

Good customer care. Quality insurance. More pricey, though. They tend to be good at taking care of customers and claims, though. Good company for a little more money.
