Beneficial Features

Allstate offers three features called "policy upgrades" that policyholders can add to their policy.

The Rider Protection Package offers death and dismemberment coverage with cash benefits to family members if you are in a serious or fatal accident that meets the coverage terms. These cash benefits can be used to cover bills from emergency care or cover funeral expenses. This additional coverage is not uncommon for the industry. However, if you already have a life insurance policy, you may not need this additional coverage.

Allstate's First Accident Waiver is similar to accident forgiveness programs offered by other insurers. This waiver is included with all of Allstate's policies for eligible policyholders. Some insurers also offer similar programs without affecting the monthly premium. Others include it as an optional feature that can affect the monthly premium when added.

Allstate's eligibility criteria for the First Accident Waiver includes time limits for how long you've had your Allstate motorcycle insurance policy and how long you have to have without a no-fault accident. 

Aspects of an accident also affect the waiver: both parties must have insurance and you can't be charged with a major traffic violation.

New Motorcycle Extended Protection is a third feature that can be added for new motorcycles. It pays to give you a new bike if your new motorcycle is totaled.

These additional coverages offer additional protection and benefits for you, your motorcycle, and your loved ones.

Competitive Discounts

Allstate also offers competitive discounts, including bundling and multi-motorcycles.

You can also receive discounts for the following:

• Membership with certain motorcycle groups (e.g. American Motorcycle Association and BMW Motorcycle Owners of America)
• Good rider history (no at-fault accident or anything more than a minor violation in past 60 months)
• Switching to Allstate (additional early signing discount available if you sign up 7 days before your current policy expires)
• Recent participation in a safety course
• Using autopay
• Paying in full

These discounts are commonly offered by motorcycle insurance companies, so Allstate's discounts follow industry trends.

High Financial Strength Ratings

Allstate has received high financial strength ratings from A.M. Best. High ratings demonstrate that an insurance provider is financially stable and will likely be able to meet its claims obligations. 

No one wants to worry about their insurance company declaring bankruptcy and being unable to pay a claim, so high financial strength ratings are standard among top providers.

However, Allstate has received many positive auto insurance reviews on BestCompany.com. While the products are different, it's a good sign that Allstate's received positive reviews for auto insurance. 

Some Features Not Available in All States

Not all of Allstate's features are available in each state. These features include the discount for participation in a motorcycle safety course, waiver for your first accident, the rider protection package, and new motorcycle extended protection.

It's unclear from Allstate's site where these features are offered. If you are considering Allstate motorcycle insurance, be sure to ask about whether these features are available in your state.
