Attention: Ditech Home Loans is no longer in business

In September 2019, New Residential Investment Corp. acquired substantially all forward assets of Ditech Financial LLC.

Founded in 1995 by John Paul Reddam, Ditech Home Loans provides loans and refinance products. Many recognize the name Ditech from the TV commercial in the 2000s that would repeat “Lost another loan to Ditech!” Today, Ditech Home Loans has evolved into a completely new and improved business, while keeping the well-remembered name.

The Good

  • Calculator
  • Transparent Loan Rates

Ditech Home Loans has multiple online calculators that allow customers to plug in their information and calculate their rate in multiple categories. These calculators include Fixed Rate vs. ARM Calculator, Adjustable Rate Mortgage (ARM) Calculator, Refinance Breakeven Calculator, P&I Payment Calculator, and more.

Transparent Loan Rates

Ditech Home Loans has transparent loan rates that show the current rates for 15 Year Fixed, 30 Year Fixed, and FHA 30 Year Fixed rates, making it easy for potential customers to compare rates.

The Bad

  • Online Chat Difficulties

Online Chat Difficulties

Although Ditech Home Loans has an online chat, it doesn’t seem to always work effectively. After trying to engage in the online chat multiple times, an automated message appeared that said the chat feature was unavailable and to contact the help desk. This could be frustrating to potential customers who need immediate online assistance.

The Bottom Line

Ditech Home Loans has an online calculator that allows anyone to calculate their rates for various different loans and situations. The company also has transparent loan rates that are easily found on their website. However, the online chat proved to have some difficulties connecting, which means online help would have to come from a help desk.
