Equipment Variety

Both Medical Guardian and ADT offer in-home medical alert systems and on-the-go medical alert systems with fall detection and GPS capabilities. Lockboxes and wall-mount buttons are additional equipment options.  

While minor details may vary, you can expect similar product types regardless of the company you choose. 

But Medical Guardian offers more variety for mobile options. While ADT has two on-the-go lanyard pendant devices and one wrist-wear option, Medical Guardian offers the following on-the-go devices:

• MGMini — can be worn around the neck or on a belt clip
• Mobile 2.0 — can be worn around the neck or on a wrist with a paired pendant button
• MGMini lite — can be worn on the wrist
• MGMove — can be worn on the wrist

With the MGMini, Medical Guardian customers can also choose from four colors.

Additionally, Medical Guardian is more forthcoming about specifications like battery life (5+ days for the MGMini), weight (0.08 lbs for the MGMini), and dimensions (2.15 x 1.3 x 0.57 in. for the MGMini). 

Pricing

Both companies charge a monthly, quarterly, or yearly fee for the product and service and offer fall detection as an optional feature for an additional monthly fee. 

Pricing is nearly identical for the two companies. 

Medical Guardian charges $10 extra per month for fall detection and, as an example, $39.95 monthly or $36.62 per month if paid yearly for the MGMini. 

ADT offers fall detection for an additional $11 per month and, as an example, $39.99 monthly or $35.99 per month if paid yearly for its comparable mobile unit, On-The-Go. 

Caregiver Tools

ADT highlights its step-by-step communication with caregivers, Senior Sensitivity Training for agents, and a CareGiver Friendly Award.

Medical Guardian offers MyGuardian, a customer portal for sharing information with caregivers, including updates, reminders, and activity tracking.

Both companies provide caregiver-friendly features, with ADT emphasizing agent training and awards and Medical Guardian focusing on a dedicated customer portal. Both approaches can be extremely useful to caregivers and will depend on your personal preferences.

Medical Guardian and ADT offer affordable medical alert systems with all of the baseline attributes consumers need: easy to use, fast response times, and third-party certification for trustworthiness and quality. 

But Medical Guardian stands out with its detailed specifications, including extremely lightweight equipment and long-lasting battery life.

Additionally, Medical Guardian is committed to ongoing communication when issues may arise as well as proactive battery replacement even before customers realize they need a new one.
