I bought Unaliwear for my elderly mother. It costs a small fortune. The batteries keep dying and must be replaced. Unaliwear has been very responsive and replaces them, but the device has become too much work for my mother.

We are sorry to hear of your and your Mom's experience. That is not the experience of the vast majority of our wearers. The Kanega Watch is a simple plug-and-play device and should not be seen as too much work for your Mother. Please contact our customer success team at 888-343-1513 ext 1 if we can be of any further assistance.

It is in watch form rather than a necklace type. It works giving a fall alert if a fall occurs. Customer service is responsive, easy to work with. Kanega works.

Have had to have the watch replaced 2 times and the 3rd watch is falling apart. This is all within one year. The at least 2 of the batteries split apart with 7 months and then another cracked and would shortly fail. I had to replace batteries 2 or 3 times a day which is crazy. I also decided I did not want to pay $60.00 per month for monitoring. If the watch had tracked steps or any other health function I may have get it. It just wasn't worth the trouble for me to keep it.

Sorry for your experience, Kathy, and to lose you as a Kanega Watch wearer. We have many wearers who have had their Kanega Watch for a number of years with no issues, no breakages of any kind. 2-3% of our wearers do have issues - mainly due to forcing the batteries into and out of their carriers; which can cause breakages over time. As you likely discovered, we have a pretty generous replacement policy when this occurs. We hope you find an alternative system that keeps you well and safe.

After an exhaustive search for exactly the right thing for us, and something he would wear, we were happy to find the Kanega watch by UnaliWear. We have been happy with our purchase and altho we have had some false alarms, we are thrilled to know the watch actually does what we needed it for. Nice looking, easy to use, reliable for fall detection, and comfortable to wear! And the customer service is amazing.

Like: 1. Customer service is excellent. Reps are courteous, patient and knowledgeable. 2. The watch learns from false alarms and becomes more accurate over time. 3. The voice activation is responsive and accurate. Dislike: 1. When in a dimly lit room, the clock face is dimly lit and when you're in a brightly lit room the clock face is bright. The unit needs to be programmed so that the opposite is true. You can barely see the clock face in a dimly lit room. 2. The watch bands are uncomfortable. The only choices offered are all metal. I've suggested that they offer a leatherette band similar to the band on a regular watch. 3. The last time I contacted the call center to test the unit, it took two and a half minutes for the operator to make the connection. That is an unacceptably long period of time in an emergency.

Thank you for your thoughtful reply and your positive comments, as well as suggestions for our improvement, which are always welcome. In response to those:
1. Clock face lighting - You are right, it is designed to be more dimly lit in very low/no light rooms vs. well lit rooms. While that may seem counterintuitive, it's actually thoughtfully designed to ensure the watch is not too bright when people are sleeping, as in testing many years ago wearers complained when they viewed the time in bed in the middle of the night that the brightness was jarring. That said, we will take your feedback and that of other recent wearers under advisement as we consider future watch updates.
2. Our mesh metal band is currently the best option for the watch design; when you factor in weight, durability and ease of putting on and adjusting the band to one's wrist. We considered many other options prior to launching with the current band. That's said, we continue to research alternatives and will alert our wearer community when and if any such alternative becomes available.
3. You are right, this is an unacceptably long time. The average response time from watch to speaking to a live operator is approximately 30 seconds, but there can be outliers, like you experienced. We continue to work with our monitoring center to ensure these happen as infrequently as possible. That said, we are sorry your test call took that long to connect.
All the best and stay well and safe.

The watch works amazingly well, and the response is almost instant. The best is the AMAZING customer service. It is prompt, polite, professional, and attentive. I wouldn't have any other system, and I can wear it 24 hours a day. All other systems need charging when I most need them (in the shower and at night when I have to get up and am not wearing my brace). It is also useful when I'm out at the park or shopping. Fantastic product. I've had mine for nearly 2 years.

My daughter-in-law found Kanega watch for me. I've loved it since I put it on. I have Cerebral Palsy, and I live alone. Falls have become more frequent in recent years. Now that I have the watch, my kids are far less worried. I love keeping it on night and day, even in the shower. I have both morning and evening pills, so I change the batteries when I take my pills. Kanega spells freedom for me.

I am confident that Kanega will get help when I need it, even though I don't have a good cell signal at home. (Mine has alerted my emergency contacts immediately on two separate occasions.) That is one of the best features--another is that the watch contacts an actual person instead of having to fiddle with a series of code numbers. I wear it 24/7, shower, rain, whatever. There is also a generous 30-day trial period, and phenomenal customer service. Well worth the money ! RL Prince

When i researched medical alert systems this was the only one you could wear in the shower, it had automatic fall detection, and you never had to take off to change batteries. I am active, and I can go anywhere; I don’t have to be within range of some base station. I have had a few issues in the past, such as with the watch not “hearing “ me when I speak to it, and batteries coming loose. Both problems were fixed. Customer service is very responsive. The only reason I didn’t give this ststem a 5 is because it is expensive, and, because it seems to be cutting edge technology, they are still working out some kinks. But as a mentioned above, Customer Service is very helpful and always makes sure any problems are fixed right away.

Thank you for your thoughtful review, Iris, and for being a Kanega Watch wearer for two years and counting. A few quick follow ups on your comments:
1. Regarding the microphone/Voice Activation, you are rather a unique case, because of your cat sanctuary, which causes the microphone hole to get consistently clogged with cat hair. Your issue has motivated us to work on a solution that hopefully will resolve this for you in the future. We will, of course, reach out when we have that long term solution for you.
2. The batteries do have an average lifespan of 18 months, and the vast majority of our wearers experience that lifespan or longer. We are really sorry your batteries have had such a short life. Hoping this will not be your experience going forward but, as you indicated, we did replace them free of charge.
All the best and stay well and safe.

What a wonder to have such technology in the palm of your hand. I spent many hours examining all the products in this category. Customer service was available to answer my questions, and to help set up the watch settings. One great feature is the ability to choose between a month to month payment plan, or choose to pre-pay for the entire year. Each of those choices have their own pros and cons. Finally, when you summon help the operator patches ALL your vital medical information to the EMS team that’s on their way. Having the UnaliWear watch is like having an ‘ON-STAR’ on your wrist.

I have severe migraine neck issues which prevent me from wearing a typical fall detection device around my neck so, the Kanega watch is my best solution. It does tend to be over-reactive to supposed verbal requests for help among other things; however, the comfort of being able to be in 24/7 contact with their customer support system more than makes up for it. Also, while they tell you that the batteries will last 24-36 hours, in my experience over the past year plus… that is definitely a stretch! It would be nice if batteries lasted longer AND if there was some way to charge it in your car instead of only being able to charge it in an electrical outlet.

We are happy that the Kanega Watch gives you a medical alert option that works for you given your neck issues. Regarding the over-reaction to voice activation, please contact our customer success team if you'd like us to reduce the sensitivity of your voice activation, which would alleviate that issue. In addition, the batteries are designed to last 24-36 hours on a full charge - the lower number is for those that are mostly out of the house on cellular all day and the higher number is for those that are mostly at home on WiFi (which drains the batteries more slowly). If you are finding that is not your experience, please contact our customer success team for troubleshooting and assistance. All the best and stay well and safe.

I love my watch. Previously I had a different medical alert company which entailed a base station, a pendant which was awkward to wear at night and never wore it during the day, and a unit to carry if I fell or got lost. I hated the whole experience. Now I have all that by just wearing my watch. I definitely recommend this to anyone wanting a medical alert system.

I really like some of the features, such as waterproof, easy battery changes, and live phone calls. I do find some of the features are not so easy to use, although the manual is certainly helpful. The fall detection is probably very good, but as expected I am getting many false detections, one resulting in the appearance of the Fire Dept. I seem to have had a number of difficulties using the product, that has included having to return the watch for a replacement a couple of times. Recently, the plastic, or whatever material, that attached the watch face to the band simply broke. A new watch was promptly received. I have had to return the watch for a replacement a couple of times

Thank you for review and allowing us to continue to keep you safe; within seconds of a emergency response agent 24/7 through your Kanega Watch. Yes, a small percentage of our wearers can find the battery changing a bit challenging and, forcing the batteries into and/or pulling them out can cause immediate breakage of the band or small fractures that can cause unexpected breakage over time. I would encourage you to contact our customer success team to review the process of changing these spring loaded batteries again so this is no longer an issue for you going forward. Regarding the Fall Detection, we can reduce the sensitivity of your Fall Detection so those alerts are not as bothersome for you. All Fall Detection is predictive, but we are the only company in the world that offers a medical alert device in which the Fall Detection sensitivity can be customized. We hope you take advantage of this unique feature to ensure you get the most out of your Kanega Watch experience. All the best and stay well and safe.

I feel that it was an unfortunate waste of $700. Although the concept of the UnaliWear watch was EXACTLY what we were looking for as a gift to our father, when put to use, the watch (even after having sensitivity settings changed) fall alert went off whenever my dad did yardwork or projects on the house. Because of this, he stopped wearing it at times he was at most risk of falling. The batteries fell out a couple of times so I paid for new batteries. It turned out to be a frustrating mechanism for my father. We ended up returning the watch.

We are really sorry for your experience. Since we only have your first name, we can't identify your account to follow up directly with you. That said, we want to provide as helpful a response as we can here. Please contact us at 888-343-1513 for any further clarifications:
1. We don't understand your reference to $700 wasted. If you returned the watch and charger to us in good condition within 30 days, you get a 100% refund; and after that the refund is prorated. You would have had to keep the watch for almost an entire year before returning it to not get any refund - but your review indicates your father returned it rather quickly. This does not make sense.
2. It's possible that significant swings of the arms, like with extensive yardwork, could trigger the fall detection. Over time, the watch learns the wearer's movements to very much limit these. In addition, as you indicated in your review, the fall sensitivity can be adjusted remotely by our Customer Success Team. That is a feature that only exists with The Kanega Watch. We recommend reducing the sensitivity in stages, to see where the best level is for each wearer. It's possible we could have reduced it further for your father. We are sorry we did not have the opportunity to do so.
3. A very small percentage of our wearers' lose any of the four custom rechargeable batteries that come with the watch. Two batteries snap into the watch and it makes a clear clicking sound (the other two batteries stay in the charger until needing to be swapped out).
We really wish your father had a better experience with his Kanega Watch. Most importantly, we hope you find a system that he will wear regularly and provide him and your family with the peace of mind you all deserve.

Shipping issues. I asked for no signature required for delivery. The watch was sent signature required therefore it was not delivered. I called and tried to talk to customer service. The agent hung up on me then would not answer. The following day I called repeatedly. They finally sent a 2nd watch. We received continuous fall alerts. Cancelled service after being told it takes 6 months for monitoring to learn habits and realize there was no emergency. After canceling I re eived a partial refund even though I was within 30 days. Had to call and get it straightened out.

As we told you previously, we were really sorry for the shipping issues. All our watches are sent with signature required, for liability protection purposes. You did request to receive it with no signature and that was not handled properly by our team. And then FedEx kept bouncing the package back and forth between depots near you. As you recall, we ended up paying for 2-day FedEx to send you an entirely new watch (and working with FedEx to get the original watch back to us). We discussed with you both that the watch's voice and fall alert systems can be reduced in sensitivity to alleviate too many false alert. We also told you that as the wearer continues to wear the watch, it learns the wearers movements thereby reducing false alerts even more (this takes place over a month, not 6 months). This was a complicated return with multiple watches and we are glad you received the full refund you deserved. Thank you for trying the Kanega Watch and we hope you find a system that meets your needs and provides you with the peace of mind you deserve. All the best and stay well and safe.

Thank you for your review. The batteries are custom made and we do charge for lost batteries (some also order extra batteries). For batteries that lose their recharge ability after approx. 18 months, there is no charge for replacement, as that is part of our all-in service. We respect your opinion regarding the band, but please note that the vast majority of our wearers get a single watch and keep it for years. We always look to make improvements, but need to be careful that changes to the watch design do not negatively effect all those that are happy with the current offering. When I am wearing the watch (which is almost24/7) I feel safe and well looked after. My cons would be the changing of the batteries every day and when I first wore the watch, it was way too sensitive and I had to have it readjusted several times. That's probably a good thing for the most part, but annoying at times.

At first I was really impressed with the idea of the watch being convenient to wear and detect falls as well other actions. As time went on the device would "detect a fall" where there was there was not even a stumble. The worst part was the voice saying "a fall has been detected in public. The device would go off with raising of my arm, constant movement, or activity such as throwing a ball. I received frequent "I thought you asked for Help" voice. Several "adjustments" were supposedly made to no avail. It was embarrassing and a nuisance. I never fell so don't know if it would detect an actual fall. The battery prongs would recede into the battery making them unusable. They were replaced but that took time with the watch being useless. Watch bar band holder broke. I finally has enough and cancelled service June 6, 2022 and returned the watch June 7 which was delivered June 9. I finally received my refund August 2, 2022. I definitely have not recommended this device for the safety.

While in the shower, the watch indicated that I needed to change the battery. One night it was lit all night long, not sure why.

Thank you for your review. The watch will notify you when your rechargeable batteries need to be replaced. It's unlikely to happen in the shower, but it is possible. Regarding the watch staying lit all night long, that is not how your watch should perform. If you experience that again, please contact our Customer Success Team at 888-343-1513 for assistance. They can conduct a remote reset of your watch which should immediately address this issue. All the best and stay well and safe.

Great product. Band could be improved. A little rough for fragile skin and clasp sometimes comes loose and can fall off.

This is the third watch in less than a year. Things break off and batteries explode. In addition the watch keeps indicating a fall when there isn't one.

The Kanega watch does everything as advertised, which is more than any other product I found on the market.

The watch's operations are great. The plastic case for the watch and batteries cracks. I have already had one battery replacement due to cracking and not charging .

Thank you for your review. We don't know why your battery cracked and would not charge, but we did promptly ship you a free replacement. We hope this is the last issue you experience with your Kanega Watch but please call our Customer Success Team with any other questions or concerns. All the best and stay well and safe.

Watch plastic broke, can't wear it, so have no protection. Have to wait 7 to 10 days for a new watch! Unacceptable and unbelievable!! Am I going to get compensated for the time I'm not protected??

We are sorry for your experience, but your replacement watch was actually delivered in 4 days, per our records. The watch is made and ships out from Austin, Texas via FedEx Ground. New and prospective wearers are offered the opportunity to pay for faster shipping, if that is their preference. We hope you enjoy the protection and comfort the Kanega Watch provides going forward.

The concept of the watch is great, but after 4 replacements and needing a fifth, I had to give up on it. The band needs work too, it would catch on my clothes

I like that it works! I like that it has both cellular and internet communication capabilities. I like the thought that went into the battery charging system. I like the helpfulness and atgtitude of the people at UnaliWare.

Very sensitive to bumps that were not a fall. More concerning was a true fall that did not register. Easy to wear and change batteries. Appreciate not worrying about moisture. Will need more time to assess all of its features.

Thank you for your review. We will have our Customer Success Team reach out to you to see if you would like us to adjust your fall sensitivity. We also would like to know more details on the fall that was missed - as it will help us train your watch and all watches in our community to be even smarter about fall detection. Glad you find the watch easy to wear and keep active through regular battery changing. All the best and stay well and safe.

I find that the ability to wear is on my wrist is both comfortable and preferable to something dangling around my neck. No matter what I wear it can appear to look like any of today's oversized style watches. It is very sensitive to any unusual movement that I might make. But, very simple to control if there is no actual emergency.

This watch is great in theory but horrible in practice. My father has had it for years, and there are constant issues from dying batteries in a matter of months to bands snapping. Yes the company offers replacements, but we have some issue almost every few months. Further, it detects falls when he's not moving at all and has failed to detect actual falls. Not giving me any peace of mind. Dad just went to check the time, and the watch is glitching yet again, the screen flickering rapidly. This company needs to hone the product they're offering, and for the price of the service, should compensate those that have stuck with them.

Really sorry for you and your Dad's experience. If you call our Customer Success Team, they can reduce the sensitivity of the Fall Detection remotely. In addition, note that the watch is both Fall and Voice activated. If the watch is activating when he is not moving, it is likely due to Voice Activation and not Fall Detection. Again, that can be remedied through our Customer Success Team. Finally, the band breaks when the batteries are regularly installed and removed improperly. If you contact our Customer Success Team for the sensitivity adjustments, they can provide solutions to the band breaking (about 2% of our wearers have this issue). We hope to keep you and your Dad as part of our Community but understand this experience is not what you expected and wish it were better for you and your entire family.

The Kanega watch is the best in all categories except one, durability. I found its construction to be very fragile. The watch broke on me twice and in the end I returned it. Subsequently I got an Apple watch but that lacks the key safety features that the Kanega has. I wish that the Kanega were more robust.

Thank you for your compliment. We are really sorry to lose you as a wearer in our growing community. You are one of about 2% of our community that has experienced repeated breaks of their Kanega Watch's battery carriers. Alternatively, we have many wearers who have had the same Kanega Watch for 3+ years with no breakage issues. We hope to have an option to serve you better in the near future and will proactively reach out when that is available. All the best and stay well and safe.
