Prudential and New York Life are good insurers to work with. Both have stood the test of time and earned high financial strength ratings. New York Life stands out for offering whole life insurance. Prudential stands out for offering indexed universal and survivorship policies.

When my wife and I were exploring life insurance policies to fit our retirement portfolio with our financial advisor we were between Prudential and Ohio National. Prudential had a very competitive offer for the space which is why our FA had us looking at them but the rider policy we attempted to add in addition to the whole life insurance policy was not granted at the amount we were seeking so we had to go with their competitor.

Worst insurance company to deal with for a life claim , originally paid claim, I deposited The check and received a stop payment on it from my bank. Customer service is awful at times I thought I was speaking to representatives from outside the US The policy was in a trust I sent all required documents and they kept asking for something else. Not very accommodating

The very nature of Insurance is based on a person's age, gender, and health. You don't just buy insurance like a loaf of bread. Insurance is a Unilateral contract that is offered based on the individual risk of the applicant, unless it is guaranteed issue, and in that case, age and gender are mandatory for a quote.

New York Life sent us a medical examiner who was totally unprofessional. First. Even though he visited us at the time when the COVID-19 pandemic in NY just started, he did not put gloves on to take a blood sample. When asked to put gloves on, he demonstrated his disaffection and wore only one. Second. He was over 30 minutes late. Third. After the blood work, one of my veins has been puffy and enlarged. It has been three months now, and it did not get better yet. Because of this experience, I truly do not recommend New York Life. In my opinion, it is the insurance company's responsibility to select right medical examiners to contract with. They should have done their due diligence, which obviously they did not.
Prudential offers term, universal, indexed universal, and variable universal policies. It also offers universal survivorship policies that insure two people and pay a death benefit after the second person dies.
Prudential also offers riders that can be added to policies to offer additional protection. Some available riders include a disability waiver of premium, accidental death, and an accelerated death benefit that allows you to receive some of the death benefit early under certain circumstances.
New York Life is similar to Prudential. The biggest differences are that New York Life does not offer as much variety with universal life policies or survivorship policies. New York Life offers term, whole, universal, and variable universal policies. Its policies can also be customized with riders, and it offers similar riders as Prudential.
Both companies are trustworthy and have good life insurance policy options. If you're determining what kind of life insurance policy you want, either company is a good choice. If you're looking for a whole life insurance policy, New York Life is the best option between the two insurers. If you want a survivorship policy, Prudential is the way to go.
