AARP was founded in 1958 by Ethel Percy Andrus, a retired teacher, and Leonard Davis, founder of Colonial Penn Group. It was originally named the American Association of Retired Persons. The organization as a whole is a membership organization specifically for seniors. Recently, AARP began to offer identity theft protection from TrustedID in response to the growing concerns of identity theft, which is a particular problem for seniors.

Exclusive Features AARP's identity theft protection services include three features that the company boasts as exclusive: court records monitoring, change of address monitoring, and Equifax monthly credit score tracking. These features provide an added level of identity protection to customers. Family Plans AARP offers both individual and family plans. With the family plan, customers can add one other adult and up to two children or grandchildren under the age of 25. Customers can add additional children or grandchildren to the plan for just $5 per year. All adults on the plan receive credit information and identity theft protection features. Children and grandchildren receive black market internet monitoring and lost wallet protection.

Despite having thorough identity theft prevention features, AARP's identity theft protection plans provide limited restoration services in the event of fraud. Some competitors go as far as allowing for a limited power of attorney in order to get a customer's identity restored. AARP does not offer this feature, nor does it offer financial, criminal, or tax identity recovery.
No Antivirus Software
AARP does not offer any kind of antivirus software.
