The Portland, Oregon-based company offers software and services focused on monitoring, protecting, and resolving identity theft to individuals and families, as well as businesses and government organizations.

The IDX service includes monitoring solutions that protect its customers against nine types of identity theft (child, medical, social security number, criminal, financial, employment, driver's license number, insurance, and synthetic).

As part of its promise to protect customers' personal information against identity thieves, IDX offers a 100 percent recovery/money-back guarantee.

The company also provides up to $1 million in reimbursement insurance, unlimited help from a certified expert, a dedicated recovery specialist, credit monitoring, and much more.

Competitive Pricing

IDX offers two premier protection services, IDX Identity and IDX Privacy, at competitive prices. Individual plans start at $9.95 per month, family plans begin at $19.95 per month.

The IDX Identity family plan covers two adults completely (credit monitoring services, CyberScan, $1 million in insurance, and access to experts/recovery superheroes are included) and up to five minor dependents can receive coverage as well (CyberScan monitoring, up to $1 million in reimbursements, and recovery services are included).

The IDX Privacy product supplies users with tools that can help them protect their digital privacy across all devices including a VPN, ForgetMe Data removal, CyberScan, a personalized privacy score, and more. 

In comparison to other identity theft protection companies, IDX has fair pricing for its services.

Comprehensive Services

IDX's plans appear to cover a wider range of monitoring services than most companies in the industry. The company provides credit monitoring (works with credit bureaus to monitor credit reports and credit scores) CyberScan™ dark web monitoring, public records monitoring, change of address monitoring, passport monitoring, payday loan monitoring, and more. IDX also provides a proactive feature that is designed to check for compromised passwords.

Both the individual and family IDX service plans include credit monitoring services, CyberScan monitoring, complete identity restoration assistance, access to an online resource center, customer service help, fraud notification features designed to catch any suspicious activity or unauthorized access, and up to $1 million in identity theft insurance.

As previously mentioned, IDX identity theft protection services cover nine different types of identity theft, including medical, social security, child, criminal, financial, synthetic, employment, insurance, and driver's license.

IDX also provides data breach identity protection services and strives to educate customers on credit card monitoring versus IDX monitoring, fraud protection, credit freezes, recovery services, recovery options, etc.

$1 Million Insurance

This identity protection company, like many other identity protection services in the industry, offers up to $1 million in identity theft insurance to account members.

According to the company's website, this insurance is designed to "provide reimbursement for out-of-pocket expenses related to addressing the restoration of your identity."

It also includes lost wallet coverage as well as reimbursement for electronically stolen funds. In addition to insurance, IDX provides customers with access to U.S.-based certified identity theft risk management specialists. These trained specialists will use the limited power of attorney to help customers with identity restoration. 

Recovery Guarantee

The company has an official refund policy in place for customers who do not obtain a 100 percent recovery from IDX's services.

According to the company's website, IDX will "refund up to one year of fees" that customers have paid towards IDX restoration services only if the company fails to remove all adverse matters (within one year of the identity theft or identity fraud event) on the customer's record.

In order to receive the refund, the customer would have had to follow the proper procedures that IDX provides for reporting the theft and would have already been enrolled in IDX protection services.

IDX's team does not operate on a 24/7 basis. The company's hours are limited to 11 hours per day on a Monday-through-Friday schedule.

Although the company does employ certified U.S.-based identity theft experts and strives to provide reliable customer service, the lack of a 24/7 operation may limit prompt responses to client questions and concerns.

No Antivirus Software Provided 

IDX doesn't seem to provide any type of antivirus software or really any protection against a ransomware attack. Meanwhile, some other identity theft protection companies offer antivirus software and other personal information protection for customers' computers and devices.

Unfortunately, since IDX does not appear to provide this type of software, customers must find and purchase the software on their own if they want to ensure further identity protection as well as personal cybersecurity.

The Bottom Line

IDX offers a wide range of identity monitoring services including credit monitoring services for all three major credit bureaus, recovery and restoration services, and identity protection services such as data breach protection and fraud alert services at competitive prices.

The company also gives customers access to certified identity theft risk management specialists who can help those who have fallen victim to identity theft make a full recovery from a theft event. IDX has a set 100 percent recovery guarantee for victims who do not fully recover while using their services. 

Additionally, IDX offers up to $1 million in identity theft insurance which covers out-of-pocket expenses such as lost wages, legal fees, private investigators (for background investigations), and stolen funds.

IDX does not, however, seem to provide around-the-clock customer services and does not seem to provide any antivirus software or personal security features that would help protect customers from fraudulent activity and identity thieves.

Although there are some aspects customers should take into account, IDX is still a top-rated, highly recommended company that offers trustworthy protection services.

I was automatically linked to them because of a hospital fraud situation. They stopped a critical problem for me, so I stayed on board with them after that. They went above and beyond in terms of promptness in getting back to me, and solving the problems that I had. I had both identity theft and fraud, and they took all the steps and measures necessary to get them corrected. They're constantly monitoring and notifying me of any potential threats or changes. I like being able to deal with someone and not get passed around to fifteen departments. I like the the one on one contact that I have with them, and from a consumer standpoint it's seemingly a smaller company so I feel like I get better support, and I think their price point is really, really competitive in the marketplace. I've already recommended them and three of my friends have switched to them.

My previous employer was hacked and they had selected MyIDCare. Every time that a hack occurred and I called them, there was always a human being at the other end that was willing to help, and you feel that the company does care about giving personal, dedicated, efficient, and fast service. I received an email with a receipt from a hardware store in Texas. I hadn't purchased any appliance, and I'm in Tennessee. I called them and they told me the best thing is to go to the credit bureau and put a fraud alert just to make sure, and also request your credit check to see if any activity has taken place lately. So they stayed with me all the time, they followed up to be sure that that has taken place. They are there for me all the time and that is very appreciated. They care, and every month I receive a newsletter allowing me to learn of the latest scams, frauds, and alerts and tips so that's very appreciated.

I wanted a mental assurance that I have something protecting all of my different assets. When I talk to them and when I need anything, I get answers back in plain English rather than very technical. I have asked them questions in the past and they have always been very responsive'when the Equifax hack was done I called them to find out what I should do about my credit protection. MyIDCare was recommended to me. So far it's done everything I would expect it to do. I got hacked through a Macy's card, and they caught that. They gave me the information without going through the police, and they put the information on Equifax and all those recording programs, and they did a nice job of it. They've been absolutely spectacular; they handled everything. Our CPA was hacked, and she set it up for us. Our identity was stolen, and the people had gotten our tax return, they had gotten some credit cards issued in our name, and actually got our mail forwarded. MyIDCare cleaned up everything. Someone had stolen identity-specific information from an institution'from a hospital system, and I was in their database, so they told me to get identity theft protection. That's when I called. When the year came up for the free coverage I called for extended, and that's when I had the opportunity to speak to anyone. A couple of people I spoke with were very helpful'their customer service skills were excellent. I haven't had a need to use it; I haven't had my identity stolen, but I still wanted to do something proactively. I just know it's there in case the need arises.

Clients are supposed to have dedicated support, however when you call with questions or concerns, you get the canned response, we are experiencing a high volume of calls and you get put on hold and after, an hour or two of waiting, you hang up with no support given. After failed attempts to speak with someone, I submitted a question/concern on-line, and zero responses. What is the point?

I was told my data might be compromised. They offered protection from IDX. So far all o have gotten is spam asking me to buy protection. In reality if a site offers you protection due to a breech they don't sell you something. I believe IDX is lieing saying a breech has occurred when it hasn't just to open up the ability to sell stuff. Do not buy from the company and sue the company that allowed them to use their name for the breech.

Last year my wife and I got married and since then we've worked together to build the most stable life together. Financial stability was very important to both of us. Before joining MyIDCare we recently had an event where our identity had been stolen and someone opened a credit account in our name. Luckily, we caught this on time. We never realized it was THAT easy, so we asked our bank who they recommended to help keep our identity safe. They recommended MyIDCare. Andrew was our representative I spoke with. I had just worked the last 19 hours and I was tired and worried for my wife and I. Not only did Andrew answer and explain everything in detail, but he did it in a way that was simple and easy to understand. By the end of our chat, he had me sold. Andrew explained everything from broad topics such as what MyIDCare was all the way to the minuet details such as how often I get alerts. The point of contact, Mary L, that was assigned to me has helped me more than everyone else combined in the 37 months I have dealt with a US Army GS 11 who was involved in my ID theft and fraud,, even 4 months after IMCOM was warned that they had a insider threat on their network and did NOTHING. She is knowledgeable, never said, that is impossible, has dealt with unfriendly companies trying to assist me in finding out who is purchasing illegal credit monitoring from a 3rd party and Trans Union is allowing it while I have a security freeze in place a year before it was allowed. Then Trans Union would not tell me the name of the 3rd party company. Trans Union is dirty to the core, they have no problem ignoring Fair Credit Reporting Act section 609(e) that allows victims to the info a company collected during the ID fraud WITHOUT a court order. Also why Experian allowed ID Experts to access my frozen report without me giving them the single use PIN or lifting the freeze violating Virginia law by doing so.

Double whammy in our family! Suddenly my husband was getting alerts from myIDcare. Called and spoke to representatives who explained that someone was attempting to take out loans and credit cards in his name. MyIDcare walked us through everything and got everything taken care of BEFORE any attempts to steal his ID went through. Then we put all our children's SS numbers into myIDcare's system. Within hours we got an alert that one of our children's SS number was being used across the country. MyIDshield gave us the information on this person and contacted the social security office who has now opened a case regarding the theft of my child's SS number. Curious to hear how this one ends. MyIDshield has been invaluable to two of our family members.

Only once did I think I might need them but the hours are all wrong. ID theft doesn't only happen between 9-5 on weekdays. This need to be available 24 hrs a day 7 days a week. You would need to charge more but you would find that acceptable.

Yesterday I thought I might have been hacked and so called MyIDCare. Josh M, an IDCares Specialist, worked patiently with me for over an hour to solve my problem. I am an older woman and not proficient on the computer! Josh was thoughtful, proficient and patient. John exceeded my expectations. He stayed on the line with me holding for 45 minutes to find out what the problem was being reported by Bank of America. We finally get someone and their customer service is closed and I have to call back tomorrow for a credit analyst to raise my limits. Seriously? My BofA Visa auto debits from my checking account and they created total chaos and ruined my evening over a case of wine! John helped me and worked with me and I can only give him praise and thanks. Shame on you Bank of America and I’ve been a customer since 1979!

We have only just begun to find the culprit who stole my ID. I was overwhelmed with the damage a person can do. MyIDCare's plan of action to find this perpetrator appears to be a solid, well planned approach (things that I would not have thought of) and I have faith that MyIDCare can undo the damage to me and find this person for which I plan on prosecuting.

MyIDCare is clearly the company to use for identity protection. I have had a membership with another company for over a year, and I’ve never heard from them. Within 24 hours of starting my membership with MyIDCare I received a credit report and valuable data breach information. The agent with whom I spoke was professional, knowledgeable and friendly. She provided information that I can use to prevent fraud in the future. I now feel comfortable that my data monitoring is in good hands.

I was part of the free "trial" in the contract the government had. The letter said I have 2 years of free service and I have been using it for close to a year now. The credit monitoring part of it is just as good or better than any free solution and their ID monitoring seems pretty comprehensive. I haven't gotten anything on the identity theft scanning stuff, which is good I guess. They also have a service that shows you where sexual predators live in your area, with all of their information so you can watch for them. I have not needed to contact customer service, as the service is very easy to login to and use. If there is a way to extend my "trial" when it runs out, I probably will, though not knowing if there is and how much it would be is annoying.

I used their service because that's what UCLA used, where my identity was stolen. A stolen check was cashed and there was nothing to warn me about it. Even though they sent me a monthly report, it didn't include any details.
