The Good

Lennox HVAC Models

Lennox manufactures and offers a wide range of energy-efficient HVAC units for various home types and sizes. Their product range includes air conditioners, heat pumps, gas furnaces, ductless systems, and packaged units, each designed to meet various homeowner needs. Here’s a quick breakdown of the popular models offered:

Lennox Air Conditioners

  • Dave Lennox Signature Collection: Highest efficiency, up to 28 SEER.
  • Elite Series: Mid-range, up to 20 SEER.
  • Merit Series: Budget-friendly, up to 17 SEER.

Lennox Heat Pumps

  • Signature Collection: Up to 24 SEER and 11.8 HSPF.
  • Elite Series: Up to 20 SEER.
  • Merit Series: Up to 16 SEER.

Lennox Gas Furnaces

  • Signature Collection: Up to 98.7% AFUE (extremely high efficiency).
  • Elite Series: Up to 96% AFUE.
  • Merit Series: Up to 80% AFUE.

Lennox also offers ductless mini-split systems for homes without ductwork, and packaged units that combine heating and cooling in one unit.

Lennox Air Conditioner Prices

The average price for a Lennox AC installation can range from $3,110 to $7,340. The exact cost will depend on several factors, including:

  • Size of your home: For a 1,600 square foot home, a 2.5-ton unit is often recommended.
  • Specific Lennox model: Different models offer varying features and prices.
  • Labor costs: These can vary based on your location and the complexity of the installation.
  • Additional services: Factors like ductwork, permits, and electrical upgrades can influence the total cost.

To see maximum savings on your Lennox HVAC unit installation, it is advisable to compare at least 3 quotes from local installers.

Energy Efficient Systems

Lennox HVAC units often have high Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratios (SEER) from 14 SEER in the Merit series to 26 SEER in signature series. A higher SEER rating means the unit uses less energy to produce the same amount of cooling. Their variable-speed technology helps adjust the AC unit speed based on demand, helping to optimize energy consumption.

Lennox units are certified by ENERGY STAR. The company has taken steps to reduce its environmental footprint, such as implementing energy-efficient manufacturing practices and using eco-friendly materials.

Warranty Options

Lennox provides different warranties for each of its products, but potential customers can expect a warranty contract to range anywhere from 5 to 20 years warranties. These warranties also vary for components, compressors and heat exchangers based on the type of unit you purchase. Other warranty options include the Lennox Extended Limited Warranty and the Complete Care Plus Extended Warranty.

Online Tools

On its website, Lennox has tools that will help every potential customer measure the financial and environmental impact of its services. The Lennox Energy Savings Calculator lets customers see how much they could be saving in energy costs by using more efficient heating/cooling systems. The solar calculator shows potential customers how much money they can save and also the environmental impact of switching to solar. Lennox also provides customers with a Healthy Solutions Finder, which helps potential HVAC customers find the best system to their health situation.

Experience

With more than 120 years industry experience, Lennox has developed and maintained a good reputation. Customers can trust that Lennox will provide quality service and products.

Offers and Savings

Lennox provides its customers with more than basic warranties for financial incentives. There is also a section of its website dedicated to informing customers about special deals and offers. Customers who are seriously thinking about choosing Lennox as their HVAC provider should take a look at the various deals offered on its site. The company also has a page dedicated to its various sweepstakes and giveaways.

The Bad

  • Higher Upfront Cost
  • Limited Availability

Higher Upfront Cost

Lennox units often come with a higher price tag compared to some other brands. This can be a significant factor for budget-conscious consumers. However, the long-term cost savings from energy efficiency and reduced maintenance needs can offset the initial investment. Additionally, Lennox offers financing options to help spread out the cost over time.

While Lennox units are generally reliable, repairs can also be more expensive due to the brand's premium status and specialized components.

Limited Availability

Lennox may not be as widely available in all regions, especially in areas with less competition among HVAC manufacturers. This can make it more challenging to find authorized dealers or obtain specific models. Due to their popularity and demand, you might experience longer wait times for installation or repairs, especially during peak seasons.  Additionally, limited availability might lead to higher prices due to reduced competition.

gavel

The Bottom Line

Though Lennox doesn’t disclose information regarding financing and fees, it does everything it can to make up for the lack of financial information. The amount of savings tools—whether promotional, educational, or through sweepstakes—that Lennox provides more than makes up for its few flaws. Lennox helps customers by providing a variety of warranty options, online tools to determine savings, and by a strict dedication to energy efficiency. We recommend that potential customers consider choosing Lennox as their HVAC service provider.

The new system we had put in definitely made a difference on our energy bill. Our house was warmer in the winter and much colder in the summer. Overall I was happy with our unit with two flaws. It would make a sound like a bus braking when the exhaust would come on and off in the winter. I had multiple people come out to check it to make sure nothing was wrong, but all said that was a normal sound of Lenox units. The other thing i wasn’t a big fan of is the process for how warranty claims are filed. They make you find your own technician and they will only cover the parts cost. Now maybe that is normal, but it was a pain.

My air conditioner went out about 4 years ago, so we started shopping around for a new one. Everyone that I talked to said if you want the top of the line, you need to go with Lennox. I did my research and found that It was a little higher in price than the other named brands, but I decided to go with them anyway. We are so glad we did. No problems what so ever, they were efficient, experienced, and very professional when they installed it. My electric bills went down tremendously. I will never buy another brand.

I moved into a 1957 house in the Palm Springs area with a 17 year old central AC unit. On leaving Costco one night was chatted up by a nice lady-in-a-box about whether I'd like a quote on a new AC unit. In the desert here, it's not uncommon for a daytime high to be 115-120 degrees in the summer (like today). I said OK-- especially since I'd just signed a contract for $28,000 of solar panels. I was contacted by General Heating and AC, and they use Lennox. I got a very reasonable quote, the unit was installed promptly, and it came with a smart thermostat that lets me access it remotely via an app on my smartphone, as well as schedule time-of-day cooling and heating periods (pretty standard). I have no complaints about the Lennox system. It's economical, it's quiet, it's easy to program, and it works. Also, I know Costco wouldn't use a contractor who doesn't use a good brand. Lennox gets good reviews, it's rated one of the top brands, and it just works. I would buy it again.

no sugarcoating

very good reputation when I did my research, I purchased an AC system because of efficiency and warranty that seems to be a bit better than competitors. They are also a vendor at costco, so they have been vetted by them too. I've only had the system for 1 year, so far so good. it wasn't cheap though, it was actually one of the more pricey systems, that's why the 4 stars.

My heater was biting the dust, it hadn’t been upgraded since the 1975s. We replaced it with a Lenox heater and air conditioning unit! What a difference it made and so easy to change the filter! It was the investment I ever made!

We purchased a Lennox 5-ton heat pump unit in 1999 and it gave us a decent 9 year life but we expected more especially since we always have an annual checkup on it. The 13 SEER unit did replace an old 11 SEER Carrier unit which was an excellent upgrade at the time. I suggest doing your research and due diligence moving forward. At the time, we had good success with the Lennox but pricing dictated our last purchase.

We just had Coopers heating and A/C install a Lennox air conditioner. It works great. It is very quiet and makes my house feel very comfortable. Sometimes it is a bit chilly but that is ok cause it is HOT outside. I love my Lennox air conditioner.

This system was installed in the home I built 22 years ago. I have had one maintenance call on this system in that time, so it is extremely reliable. Unfortunately I did have to have it replaced last week but we used the same company with a much newer system. Couldn't be any easier to operate, just set the thermo. and time settings and go about your business.

We bought a home in 2019 with a Lennox electric furnace and air conditioner. This is our first non-gas furnace and it has been good so far. It was installed in 2014 so has a few years on it. We do get it checked twice a year for normal maintenance and have only had to replace one minor part so far. From having worked in the HVAC industry I know that the average life expectancy of a gas furnace is only about 12 to 16 years so am anxious to see how this product compares over time. But very please thus far.

We replaced out two old AC units this year with 2 new Lennox units. Brian's Heating and Air Conditioning installed the units in one day (we were told that the install could last a couple days)... we were very happy with the installation. The new Lennox units work so well, they keep our home's temp at a very comfortable level without a big utility bill. We are VERY happy with our Lennox AC's!

Lennox is a well known company for Hvac systems. Ours is 8 years old. It's in a house in a hot Southern state so it runs constantly for many months out of the year and cools a 1600 sq ft home with no problems. We run it at 76 degrees and it is very comfortable. When. I found out that our Hvac system was made by Lennox, I was very pleased as they are high quality and last for years.

Smoky River Contracting, High Prairie. Had government approval for a new furnace install. Mike was contacted in early December to do the job. He had issues with water in the crawl space. I cleaned everything up and removed the old furnace myself. Sent him pictures he said everything was good. I waited to hear from him. After a while I sent him an email asking if he had a time and date for the install. No reply. He emails me today wanting the gas inspected and hooked up before Tuesday. Knowing that was impossible. The furnace needs to be installed before the inspection. He used this as an excuse to cancel the work. He doesn't want to work for a person that has low income. He left me high and dry in this cold. Because he feels he is too good to work in a dug cellar. Lucky for him he doesn't have a lot of competition around here. Or maybe he refused because he couldn't do it and didn't want to admit it. The issue with the water downstairs he said was Grey waist water and he was concerned about the warranty. Then it turned into a health risk. This guy feels he is too good to work for a guy on a disability in a dug cellar. Thanks for letting me freeze Mike. Very professional. I had lots of work to do here too. I'm expecting a lot of money from an insurance lawsuit and other substantial rebates. I am planning a furnace install in my shop and other installs after my house gets renovated. So if you are not rich, don't call this guy. And if you were approved for government funding and he decides to cancel the job. You need to reaply for funding all over again. He does not mind screwing you over. He's too cool for school. I knew he was an idiot when he felt the need to tell me how good he is.

The new furnace we got was good. They are one of the top products in the industry for a reason. We did have an issue with the flame being blown out by the exhaust return, however we found a work around to keep it on. Hasn't been a real issue. All in all has been a good furnace.

Great. Those that want a balance of lower cost than a variable-capacity AC but better performance than a single-stage model. The efficiency level is right for warm and hot climates. Would recommend

The equipment we received was great quality, however we were not pleased with the communication to the vendor and the length of time it took to receive the equipment. This may have been less frustrating had it not been 90+ degrees outside. Otherwise, the equipment works great now that it is installed.

Lennox is taking 4 weeks to replace a 3-month-old compressor on a new 4-ton unit put in this summer. Abismal performance and they don't answer the local HVAC installer request for information. If we were talking a few days I am just a spoiled customer. Sorry but this is now 29 days later and no delivery notification for the replacement yet. The temp at night does get to the mid-upper 70s by sunrise. Find another brand to save yourself this missery.
