I have had this coverage (the 'Gold' package) for over 22 years. They used to be great, fast service, no issues. For the last 10 years or so, every claim I have filed has been denied for some reason. This is very disappointing. About 10 years ago when our refridgerator stopped working, the technician came out, said it needed to be replaced, the claim was denied because there was dust behind the fridge (really? who moves the fridge to dust?). We ended up just purchasing a new fridge on our own. Next, I filed a claim for a leaking toilet , but was told since my husband initially snaked the toilet (just to stop it from overflowing and flooding the bathroom after plunging didnt work), they would not cover it. So we called a plumber on our own, and just had the toilet replaced on our dime. Next, the kitchen sink was stopped up, again, water everywhere, we snaked it to get rid of the flooding waters (since it takes days to get someone to come out), and once again were told that it would not be covered because we snaked the drain. Then the biggie, our HVAC had been having issues for the past 7 years, every year, something needed to be replace on it, the technicians continually recommended to MD REsidential that they replace the unit (it was VERY old), but each time, they insisted on fixing it each year. This past year it went out completely, and was not fixable. MD Residential sent an estimate of what they would be willing to pay to re place the unit... turned out to be alost NOTHING. We called our own installer, and had our whole system replaced--nothing fr om MD Residential. Honestly, I no longer trust them with my home, and am currently looking for better coverage through another company, truly, I am jaded by this whole experience--being a loyal customer for over 23 years, and being treated so unfairly. Aweful business practice on their part. They wont be getting free money from me much longer.
