GuardMe provides custom security systems and has serviced over 80,000 commercial and residential systems since 1997. Although the company is based in New Jersey, it services half of the United States. It provides 24/7 professional monitoring and is active on social media. However, the company is not very transparent on its site as far as the associated costs or equipment available.

The Good

  • 24/7 Monitoring
  • Lifetime Warranty
  • Strong Social Media Presence
  • Positive Customer Reviews
  • Custom Systems

GuardMe, provides 24/7 professional monitoring for its customers through its 5 diamond award winning central monitoring station. It also has certified, PERS (Personal Emergency Response System) operators to assist with medical alerts and alarms. The company also provides a lifetime warranty on its equipment which can give you peace of mind if a part ever needs to be replaced. If you enjoy staying connected to various service providers, GuardMe stays up-to-date on its Facebook page through active posting and responding to its customers. In fact, many customers have resolved issues with the company through the Facebook page. Many customers share how communicative and personable the install technicians and salesmen are and have given the company 4.5 out of 5 stars on Facebook. GuardMe doesn't share detailed packages online because it designs custom home security systems based solely on customer needs. If you feel limited by other "one size fits all" security company, then this is a great option to ensure you get a system specific to your home or business. Because of this, GuardMe utilizes different equipment providers or can even take over existing systems.

The Bad

  • Serves Half of the U.S.
  • No Cancellation Policy
  • Poor Online Transparency
  • Third-Party Equipment

Although headquartered in New Jersey, GuardMe services 25 out of the 50 states in the USA. This isn't a negative aspect until you experience a move out of state to an area not covered by GuardMe. It is recommended to pay specific attention to the states it does provide services for prior to signing a contractual agreement. Keep in mind, GuardMe does not have a cancellation policy, so you will be responsible for the remaining balance if you decide to leave your contract early. One downside to GuardMe is that it does not list equipment or package pricing online. Because it offers custom security systems, it is understandable why it cannot list pricing options as it may vary quite a bit. With that said, it is difficult as a consumer to understand what price point you are looking at when shopping around with various security companies. A free security analysis is necessary for you to learn what pricing and promotions are available to you in your area. GuardMe provides product manuals for 2Gig, GE, and Honeywell equipment on its website. These security product brands are used by many security companies, but it removes the ability for GuardMe to control the entire experience for you as a customer as it is reliant on third-party system updates. This is really only problematic if you experience a technical issue or equipment malfunction with your system that is dependent on the third party for a fix.

The Bottom Line

If you are within GuardMe's service area, are looking for a custom security system, and appreciate having a lifetime equipment warranty, then GuardMe should meet your needs. However, if you're hoping to stay away from contracts or would like a company with a flexible cancellation policy, we recommend you check out other security companies.
