Guardian Protection Cost

Like most professionally installed solutions, a Guardian Protection security system requires little upfront costs and offers free, fast, and safe professional installation. All it takes is a one-time equipment fee ($249) with prices varying depending on the home security systems package.

The monthly fee for monitoring at $45.99. An IQ2 PowerG Panel, PowerG motion detector, PowerG window/door sensor, and professional monitoring services are standard. The IQ2 control panel has hands-free Bluetooth disarming, a built-in glass break sensor, a built-in 5MP camera, plus advanced encryption technology. The wireless window and door sensor options have a discreet design and a lot of power. They communicate with your Guardian security panel and help protect your home's critical entry and exit points. They come with PowerG wireless intrusion technology, providing more secure encryption, longer range and reliability, and better battery life. Video surveillance from the security camera array is only available on more advanced packages.

Guardian’s services aren't available everywhere in the United States. And although Guardian Protection monitors systems in all 50 states, the company only provides new systems in the following areas: Delaware, DC, Maryland, Ohio, and Pennsylvania.

Not Available for Apartments

In addition, the company doesn't provide services to apartment renters (house renters are fine). However, this is not uncommon for home security companies. 

Limited Sensors

In addition, Guardian Protection only provides three PowerG door/window sensors with most of its packages. Even small homes often require more than three door/window sensors, meaning most customers should account for additional out-of-pocket costs on sensors if they want a cheaper plan. 

However, the Family First, Protect My Parents, and The Works packages all have 5 door/window sensors. If you like the extra equipment in these packages, these might be good choices for you.

I am happy with the service provided. My only complaint is about the team that performed the installation. This was well before the concerns of Coronavirus, however one of the young men who came in my house was very sick with a cold or flu. He kept sneezing and coughing, and I provided him with tissues. When I offered him a cloth to clean the surfaces where the sensor were placed, he insisted that he preferred to wipe them with his fingers. Therefore, he touched about everywhere in my house. I had to go and sanitize all the places I figured he touched, and luckily I did not catch anythinig. However, this tells me that the poor young man needed to come to work even when not feeling well because presumably he didn't have any health benefits and wasn't getting paid if not working. That says something about your company.t

We were happy with another company. Two young men came to my door, saying that the Police had required that everyone change to a "new" type of Security System. They REALLY pushed this, and finally convinced us to "change" to this upgraded system, and if we weren't satisfied, we could cancel it. "Strangely, there was a person out front in their vehicle, who immediately was installing the Guardian Alarm. I didn't like the "pushiness" - and the following day, I called to cancel it. We were told that it was impossible, as the Contract stated it was a number of years - (Five, I think). The little "Computer type Screen" that I'd signed, had NOTHING about that showing. That was SO VERY UNETHICAL, and we were VERY DECEIVED and ANGRY that we had fallen for their lies, and that they were so pushy. This was fairly late in the evening, we were very tired. This was certainly a "Set-Up" HOWEVER, aside from the "Arm Twisting" - we have been pleased with Guardian. Any time there has been the smallest issue, they have taken care of it right away. The "Staff" in the "Call Center" have always been very polite and helpful. Also, a few times, it has gone off in error -(example bringing in groceries with our arms filled, and not turning off the alarm quick enough). Someone calls immediately. We give our password, and all is okay. If we have a question, your Reps are very knowledgeable. NO PROBLEM THERE!

Overall they are pretty good. They're very helpful; whenever we have a phone call to make to them for anything, they come right out and make sure it's done, so they're very helpful over the phone. The service calls are very prompt. As far as the the system itself, it's very user friendly, and we haven't had any issues with the security. Everything is good as far the security system, but we also got the home speaker system that's part of Guardian as well, and we just have a couple of issues with it right now, but we're getting it worked out. I think they are pretty reasonable with the cost. It's what was available when we are getting our home built, and we saw that they service most of the homes in that area.

I had Guardian Protection in Delaware, so I just called them when I moved to Virginia. I've only had one incident in all the years I've had them. My alarm was just going off at three in the morning on a school day and I called and they said they'd have to have someone call me back. I've got three kids sleeping here. I couldn't get it to turn off but I'm not sure why it was even doing that- a fault somewhere- so I just removed the whole keypad from the wall and called it a day, and they came back out and put it back up for me. That's the only problem I've had in probably twenty years. It works. the only problem is you've gotta swap out the batteries every now and then, but that's to be expected. They're a good company. They've been good to me, and when I have questions they're always able to answer, so I have nothing bad to say about them.

We just wanted to go with a different vendor to try out and see how the customer service was compared with a different vendor that we used before. Good telephone customer service, just that we've had to reschedule installation three different times because the equipment was not mailed out, and the technicians did not have the equipment given to them. The equipment is on par with what we have experienced with other vendors so it's nothing spectacular. We'd like to see better communication between their sales department and the service department because again we have had to reschedule those installation appointments.

They were working directly with our builder, so it was really our only option in terms of protection. In general our service is good, though at the time we're still waiting for an appointment. We have issues with a big window and they've come to look at it twice already. Still, in general it's working fine and I haven't had any issues. I wish they had a more comprehensive listing of the equipment that you can get. When we got it they just gave us a list of the equipment that was compatible, that they wanted to sell to us. I think It would be easier to integrate some of the other items that they have if they gave you a list of everything they have. It would also be great if they could make it a little cheaper. I know it's somewhat comparative to some of the other companies out there, but it's a little pricey.

The protection is great I feel very safe in my home and I can always reach someone. The app however is not very functional. It''s always giving an error. I also notice I can''t panic from the app in the event I needed to. The app is very delayed and just not user friendly. Also Guardian charges a lot for basic things when they have to come out. If the system is not working that''s not the customers fault and as a part of the monitoring fee basic checks and repairs should be covered. The techs are amazing and knowledgeable. The 4 hour time frame is a bit inconvenient and they don''t have Saturday slots and it''s usually not a quick job so you have to make time. Overall it works, no system is perfect and I sleep well at night

The previous owner had a contract with them and, since it was a good deal, we decided to just continue with the service. When we were having the system installed or reactivated, they came and missed me. There might have been some miscommunication since they came when I wasn't around, or maybe they called and I didn't get it, but that was a problem at first. Other than that though, we haven't had any issue, they have been excellent. Whenever the alarm is triggered they reach out to me and because of that I know it works perfectly. I'm not sure how the equipment works, but I've seen other similar companies offering VEO cameras and such, but I'm not really sure how they are different. I'm happy with the service and I think it was a good decision.

The service was included with the home when I purchased it. Actually, it was one of their suggested services for security, so I just ended up getting it. They have been very professional, they actually contacted me once I started to use the system. I was advised to give the system a grace period of 7 days an call them afterwards to let them know of any problems or errors. I was also offered additional training if I needed it. I only have the security system installed, the one with the surround sound. I still need to get the receiver to be able to transmit the sound myself, but that's one of the things I wasn't really told about when I was signing up for the service. I also wasn't aware that the contract was for at least 5 years. The sales person didn't really convey the message properly, so I wasn't very happy about all that. I wish they had given me more details about that beforehand. Still, since I only have the security system, it's pretty straightforward and easy to use. There are some features that I still have to wait for, I can't use them yet.

We've had Guardian forever. My wife chose it because we had kids and she wanted to make sure that we were safe. They are really decent to deal with and, since we just divorced, they came out and changed the codes for me and everything. They were very pleasant and I didn't have to be put on hold forever. They've always answered my calls and any time I have a question they get me the answer. I think I'll be looking into upgrading some of the equipment, though I expected them to slowly upgrade the system as time went by. Turns out I have to pay for things to get switched out. Still, I've never really had a bad experience with them. They call me back which I find amazing since a lot of companies don't check on you. They are a great company.

When I had my home built my this service was the one that my builder suggested. I guess they have all the alarms and packages and I liked what they had to offer. I thought they were all pretty good so I called them and got it. They came and installed the system and it took them a long time, about 6 hours or so. Still, they were determined to stay until everything was done correctly and in the end it was all very nice. I do think that the volume in the alarm is not loud enough, and I'd like it to tell me which door is being opened rather than just beep. That way I'd know if it's the front door, the side door, or the garage door.

I get a call every time the WiFi goes out even if it’s just for a few minutes which can get annoying but at least I know my internet provider sucks. I also wish there was a way to set up a delay for the alarm going off like my work alarms. I have set it off twice first thing letting the dog out and I died and came back to life both times when the alarm went off.

Everything seems to work well, but they don't seem to go above and beyond to appease the customer. There was an issue with my system from the sales representative and things that should have been done but weren't done and I don't feel like the customer service was helpful. They weren't willing to do anything, it was just this is what it is, and that's it okay, but there was an error made and it was like he just didn't want to hear or understand that.

Guardian Protection had the best price we could afford. They were really good at communicating with us during the whole process. They scheduled appointments for us, came on time, and are very efficient. It's a little difficult to get the cameras put up because they need to be put near a power source, so your options are limited. I love that my house is protected while I'm gone.

The customer service is great but some of the products can get a little glitchy. For example, the video doorbell doesn't show me live-feed from the panel. It will say livestream not available and will have to click to connect again. Also, the sensors might be a little too sensitive because it will notify my phone that there is activity at the Front Door but it's likely wind because no one is out there.

We had a problem with one of our cameras and I reached out to them since it had only been two weeks since installation. After reaching out to them, they had a technician come out the very next day. I love having the peace of mind knowing my home is protected whether or not we're home. I find their monthly fee rather high and after I signed up I learned that there are competitors that offer free installation and a lower monthly fee, so I wasn't very happy about that.

They do the security at my office and I have been satisfied with them for twenty year so when I needed something for my home, I decided to go with them because I was familiar with them. It gives me peace of mind. There have been a couple of instances where the response was slow and I had to replace my smoke detector four times but that was not guardian’s fault, it was the poor design of the smoke detectors, which are the only ones compatible with the system.

My service technician, Garry, was fantastic. He installed it initially and was very pleasant and timely. He felt like protecting my home was as important as protecting his own home. My initial installer was incredibly awesome. He did an excellent job and was patient and knowledgeable. That was huge for me. Everyone I’ve spoken with has gone out of their way to work with me. There was a smell misunderstanding on their part and the error was fixed incredibly quickly, with no cost to myself. I have seen cameras with slightly better quality but the response time is the best.

Too soon to tell. From a "problem" perspective, they set up the bluetooth receive in the wrong spot (this is a new build). They said it would go in the kitchen and it went somewhere else that's a pretty useless spot since bluetooth is so weak. Also, no one really explains anything. You pretty much have to figure everything out yourself. On positive note, the second person that came here, Anthony, did an amazing job of helping to set things up correctly.

They have the security box and I got access to my phone but I can also get cameras installed with it. When I was asking about the cameras, I didn't want to get the direct camera because it costs a lot so the guy who installed the system told me I could get arlo cameras. When I called about the cameras, they didn't know what I was talking about so it was kind of a runaround.

I like that you're able to see and operate everything off of your mobile devices. I would say that there needs to be more adequate training when installing a thermosstat that they might need a little bit of training. When we were installing the thermostat, it was switched from the heating and cooling so after the tech left, the heater was on when it was supposed to be the air conditioning so we had to call each company back both times to fix that.

I chose guardian because of the technology and the price was right. It is easy to operate. They were a bit misleading. They said they would be able to take over the existing panels I had in the house but that wasn't the case so they I would have to get new equipment. Their panels need to open the software so they can integrate more diverse equipment.

We feel a lot safer in our home. The equipment is very good quality. The fixture and everything is really clear on my cameras. It is really easy to use. I've had to call customer support a few times for different things with my WiFi not connecting and every time they've been extremely helpful and walked me through step by step what to do. Guardian Protection is the best offer for the equipment and service.

Good experience all the time-from cust service rep's, home installation tech's (their the best). Guardian gives you protection without leaving your pockets empty to protect your home! Have had Guardian on one home over 10yrs. Last year installed on another home. I DO NOT appreciate that because I haven't went paperless billing on the newer home, I am being charged a fee. Everyone doesn't have a computer-LIKE ME! That should be a choice! Not, if you don't choose door number 1 you will be penalized!

I think the representative came off well. A motion detector for one more out of the house the basically fell off the wall so I have a part of my house, a significant part not covered by a motion detector and I'm not in some ways I'm not blaming them I have to call them and tell them which I haven't done yet it's only been a few days but I it does concern me that the equipment is less than what five to six weeks old and a major area coverage is basically falling off the wall, I'm not happy with that. I paid too much money.

I wish they could do motion sensors. I have a detached garage and had motion sensors with ADT. When I changed to Guardian I was told they could not do motion sensors. Now I worry about someone breaking into my garage. I like that the price is guaranteed for the length of my contract. I also like how fast they respond via phone call to an alarm. Also that I have the option to bypass anything that has a alarm on it.

Still have to work on their system.Initially bluetooth and keyfobs are not effective.it takes a while before it take effect to arm and disarm.it wouldn't sync to my phone.need to refresh everytime.keyfob and blue tooth works inside home but not outside.But to be fair they never stop to figure out the problem and fix it.Kudos to the technician Anthony and Dave for attending into it.Now it works great!.

Overall I'm happy, but it's still new technology and sometimes technologies aren't 100% reliable at all times. They are really nice and courteous and professional. It's kind of difficult to reach them sometimes. You know, get help with the equipment like the cameras are not working and it's not connected and I need a specialist. It's good, but it's still got problems. Like they need to take care of the app. Sometimes it just seems faulty for some reason, even though there's a lot of settings.

The customer service was knowledgeable but I haven't had to contact them. I've only had it for a week. I don't like the voice on the alarm system because you can't hear it. They turned it up as high as it would go but the other evening my daughter came home and we had heard a buzzing noise, we were maybe ten feet away from the alarm system and I had two seconds left to turn it off because I couldn't hear it.

We had several instances where the system was down and our camera was unavailable. We enjoy the app, being able to open the doors, turn on the lights, set the air conditioning temperatures and all that kind of stuff. So we've enjoyed that part of it. They've always responded to use in an effective manner and although we haven't always been available to get what we hope fixed right away, they always have responded quick.

I have not used my alarm at all since I moved in 5 years ago. I have had alerts several times for fire and carbon monoxide, and when I called they said that they were not connected to my alarm and it must be the smoke detectors. I did have them replaced several times and all are working now. Was not aware that if there is a fire it does you are not alerted.

The customer service is excellent the representatives on the phone we''re good and polite. The motion sensor is very difficult to open and change batteries for the consumer for me and I noticed on YouTube other people also were having difficulty trying to get the three points to open up at the same time to change the batteries so I would suggest trying to get a different type of sensor motion sensor with an easier way for the consumer to change the battery.

I like that they pay personal attention. The guys that came out and checked what was there put in new smoke detector in addition to what I already had and they were nice guys and gave me their number if I had any problems. Anytime I get a hold of customer service, they always have the solution I need. They are always there. The equipment probably needs to be upgraded but it is easy to use and reasonably priced.

The representatives were very knowledgeable when I called and if I had any technical problems, they took care of them and they did what they were supposed to do. There was a problem with the phone line where I lived previously and so for about three and half to four months, I didn't have access to the emergency alert system. They had been taken over by a company and they did not give us any prior notification and it caused a great deal of confusion when the take over took place.

Guardian was the first home security company I used.. It was quick to call when the alarm was sounded. They got the job done. Cancellation of service was tricky. I called to cancel. They sent a payout quote. I was waiting for the bill. I didn't read the sentence that said I had to get back to them. They need to have that sentence before the buy out quote and they need to tell you that on the phone when you call to cancel.

They make sure that they come when I have an issue with my alarm system. They're available when I call them, and they answer me immediately when my alarm goes off. There's other companies that have cheaper services though. I bought a new construction property and I guess they work alongside the company and I wasn't told about the contract when I went with them. So, I kind of got swindled into it.

We have had Guardian service for many years. However there are many more optional protection services that are currently on the market now than during the earlier years of our contract with Guardian. I believe that Guardian's services have been out-priced by other good systems. I will be researching other services to determine better values for even better all around services.

This was an option given to us by our home builder. One of the cameras on the outside doesn't have the right wide angle that we're hoping for. The technicians were kind of a comedy of errors and they had to come back three different times. It finally end up a happy ending, it just took a lot of different trips and working with Customer service to make it happen. For what you pay for the value is good. You get a good security system -the cameras work and company is trustworthy.

I've been a customer for less than a month but I really like it. Customer support is good and the equipment is fine for what you expect from this sort of thing. It has been very reliable and everything seems to work. Right now I'm at a point where, because of my personal experience with the installation, I wouldn't recommend it. Some things went weirdly and I was not left very happy with that.

When the house was built 10 years ago, it was the only security system offered. There are more advanced systems available now than they were when my system was installed. They're becoming a little pricey compared with their competition, and for several occasions, I've had to call 2 to 3 times to get a response that answered my questions. That's over the course of 10 years, so that's pretty good.

My sales rep goes to my church, and was very knowledgeable and very helpful as far as asking about what I needed and what I was looking for, and working up a package that suit me. I haven't had a whole lot of dealings with customer service, but I've had a good response as far as calls being answered. I have a appointment for a technician to come out and reset a sensor that came off the door, and so far it's all been good. The equipment is a lot better than anything I've used up to this point.

Guardian Protection was recommended by our builder. Whenever I talk with someone on the phone, they're great. I think that the technician that came out to install it could improve on how well they familiarize the customer with the system. I would like to have had some kind of quick user guide, just so that before you can delve into reading the whole manual about the system, you can get a quick "here's what you need to know about the basics to use it." It's only been a month so far, but we haven't had any issues with the equipment.

I went with Guardian Protect because they offered the wireless feature on my cell phone. It's pretty expensive. I'd say the equipment works; it's very easy to use. I think their technical people are very good; they were the ones that have come to my house numerous times. They have all been well-trained and know what they're doing, but you can never get the right person on the phone, though.

I enjoy the wireless aspect of it- the fact there were no wires that need to really be connected to the sensors. Initially, we didn't get the the panel installed like it was supposed to be. The original installer had a desktop controller and we had asked for a mounted one. Subsequently, Guardian did come out and make that adjustment at no cost to us. So far it has functioned exactly as it's supposed to.

The builder offered Guardian and I decided to make it easier for myself. Haven't had any problem, and they've been very helpful when I needed to ask them questions, so right now it's pretty good. The only issue that I have so far is that I don't like where I can't see how to disarm the alarm very easily. It does not light up, so I have to improvise using my phone. It's easier to turn the system on and off that way rather than using the keypad.

A neighbor recommended this to us and so far it has been ok. The equipment has been working fine. We did have a couple of hiccups and glitches when we first got it installed. The people that came in just put the system and if I asked any questions they didn't really give me a good answer. I asked them how it all worked and they couldn't tell me. You kind of have to learn on your own and figure it out. We did get that ironed out in the end, but it just took a while.

The service came pre-installed since the home builder put it in there. The tech that they sent out knew how to work with the security system that was installed, but it seems like Guardian installed audio with a low voltage wiring and some other things in the house. The tech had no knowledge of any of that stuff, so he couldn't do much with that. Also, at one point I needed a replacement and it took them close to a month to get things done. Other than that, everyone has been nice.
