There are not a lot of choices in Florida when insuring a home on Gulf. Citizens saved the day! Recently, the company we were with went insolvent, Citizen insured us and it was actually less expensive that the previous insurer.

What I like about them is they have always been fair on their pricing. What I don’t like about them is they can sometimes be the only company out there writing for policies so they can control the pricing

Initially, the collaboration with Citizens was okay because of the cost. I never had to file a claim, but due to the location of my home (Florida) the cost increase tremendously and I had to find another company.

Unfortunately, they are not bound by their words. We were told that they would give a discount on our home owners insurance for upgrades and when we told them about the upgrades they changed their story and didn’t offer a discount. Poor customer service,
