This has been a more affordable plan , then the BCBS, that we had for years, they have great primary doctors on the plan and a good web site, and other features. This plan seems to pay the doctors the same as the BCBS did, and I have had no complaints about the payment. As the cost if insurance is rising and the benefits are lowering , Oscar is a good choice.

My favorite thing about Oscar is that I'm always able to get a hold of an agent if I need anything. No robots, no automated voice, no long queues - If I need to speak with an Oscar representative I'm almost always instantly connected with a real person. They're always very helpful and very friendly.

The app is great; paperwork and reports are clear; and the drug coverage is excellent. I have no complains after about 14 months enrolled (though admittedly I haven't had any out-of-the-ordinary health needs). The only reason I gave 4 stars rather than five is the very high cost of the plan, which went up $100 after my first year, and is slated to go up about $140 after the second. (But then again, skyrocketing costs probably aren't limited to Oscar!)

Modern insurance company with fair pricing, good selection of doctors, and good coverage. We needed basic health insurance to cover our catastrophic needs. We also wanted reasonable pricing on our everyday health needs. So far Oscar has delivered what we expected. Their website and app make it much easier to interact with the company.

Overall, Oscar insurance is well run. Good communication when required. Only concern is their explanation of benefits does not list the service provided, any codes or name of provider. This makes it very difficult to reconcile with bills received from providers.

From a personal concierge team to help you, to being able to talk with a professional, this insurance is AMAZING. Makes everything so easy. Able to find any type or doctor and any type of care right on an easy to navigate app on my phone. It's Wonderful!!! Able to book appointments right on the app even!

Since switching to Oscar from another very reputable health insurance provider, I could not be happier. From the level of doctors available to the app, and the doctor on call, I have been blown away from the level of excellence. I have recommended Oscar to all my friends and they will all be switching when they can.

I really like the ability to have a phone conversation with a doctor. That feature has been incredibly helpful. I also enjoy the concierge team who help me navigate my medical care. It has been good being able to schedule specialist appointments directly too. So far the price is Ok as well. All that and a critical mass of providers who take Oscar make it great for our family.

Oscar provides a competitively priced insurance for the New York market, which is widely accepted with multiple pcp and specialists. Additionally, their digital platform allows you to speak with a dedicated concierge team and medical professionals on demand for minor inquiries, which are both time saving and very efficient, as well as helping you save on the co-pays with the doctors.

removing gym reimbursement without notice is not right to your members. Replacing with steps, while it comes close to rewards, it is a lower dollar amount rewarded, and you increase the required steps once you hit that particular goal. while I understand that Oscar is in it for profits, this will hurt the bottom line of the company. While steps are important, there are other forms of exercise which are also just as important, for instance swimming and bicycling. Both are activities which I engage in and now will not be entitled to reimbursement. Sad that you are really no providing encouragement to good health but rather looking to not only increase the bottom line, but also to gather data on your members. Shame.

Hi j, we're sorry to hear you feel this way, but we appreciate the feedback and have sent it to our product team for review. Previously, gym reimbursements required documentation to be submitted and reviewed. We wanted to create a program that would be more convenient for our members, so we introduced Step Tracking so members could continue to receive rewards for staying active. The program makes it easy for members to monitor and meet their step goals daily, and cash out for an Amazon Gift Card at any time directly from the Oscar app. If you have questions or would like to share additional feedback you can reach us at 855-OSCAR-55 or by sending a secure message from your account or the app.

With Oscar, I can have a Doctor call me back in 10 mins or less AND they prescribe/refill medication. That's huge for me! And when I do need to see a doctor IRL, I can ping my rep there directly and he finds me the best doctor for me, close to work. I know its pricey but its still cheaper than everyone else and they are totally worth it.

I've had a very good experience with Oscar but nervous now because 3 doctors have dropped Oscar and I'm having a hard time finding new doctors who take the insurance...its making me uneasy now. I went to a specialist in Oscars plan but then I got a bill for over $700. from Oscar. They (Oscar) said "one of the doctors 3 office locations was not medically covered" yes, I said "the doctors location of his office" and I should have know that info prior to seeing the doctor.,,in other words, if I saw the doctor at one of the other 3 locations, I would be covered...crazy! The specialist dropped Oscar and released me of any responsibility of payment and ate the loss...isn't that a shame that Oscar stiffed the specialist and me as well because I would have had to pay that bill.

Avoid Oscar health insurance!! High monthly premiums, high deductible, decline payments of most claims. Customer service is outsourced and I could barely understand what they were saying. When customer service can’t answer a question they just hang up on you. Oscar uses the 3 D method Deny, Delay, Discourage. They use this method to avoid paying claims . If you need health insurance look elsewhere . I’d give Oscar health insurance a 100 negative star rating if that was a choice!

i have recently signed up with Oscar because of Bidens big campaign f helping Americans. Once I looked overmy documents I have 5200 deductable and pays partial of most after deductable. Now how many Americans is this helping? Low income familys spending 5200 in next two months before the year starts over? So Oscar is recieving Government funding for every American who went for the 1000s of Ads stating Bidens givung 1400 a month to you and click on the Ad to find its health insurance which is great this year couldnt afford it. I also cant afford 5200 in nextctwo months ti recieve meducal. I visited ER room sunday for major issues in head , neck and shoulder. I am referred to specialist but everyone I call seems to shy away when I say im with Oscar insurance. They all the sudden are not taking patients til Jan. I feel they have recievedmillions from Government for providing insurance to low income making it impossibpe for any claims to be paid by them. Ive never seen a policy so ridiculous as this one I recieved. I do not have insurance . They apparently do not have great standing eith Hospitals and Doctors who are on their list . Hopefully I can find a Doctor to take me as the pain im in is unbearable and im bedridden because of it. I suggest to all deny the Obama free gift of insurance if they give you Oscar. I heard it was the Ad i chose to hit selling Oscar . I know other people got reputable insurance carriers. I just chose wrong ad!

TOTALLY UNRESPONSIVE TO MY PAYMENT ISSUES, THEIR AUTO PAY DOESN'T WORK, I GOT A PAYMENT NOTIFICATION AND A REFUND AT THE SAME TIME. I SET UP MY BANK AUTOPAY THAT WORKED FOR 2 MONTHS THEN THEY COULDN'T FIND MY PAYMENTS. Their Android app can't open their own receipt files they send me. WTF?! Added 9/6/23 I just received an auto generated email stating that I turned off my auto pay. This is the system that charged me a payment and credited me at the same time back in February. It was shut off at that time. I have had at least 7 different reps in my account in the last 2 weeks and now I get this stupid response. A company that is not interested in it's customers issues directly related to itself is in a downward spiral and will soon be turning off the lights permanently. (If anyone there can figure out where the light switch is located!) TOTALLY UNPROFESSIONAL UNRESPONSIVE (WE HAVE NO ONE ABOVE SUPERVISOR THAT IS CUSTOMER FACING!)

The first year with them was a breeze. I had no issues. Then this year nothing but issues. They lowered the monthly premium and raised all the deductibles across the board. Now it's $500 to go to the ER. So I will literally stay home when I'm having issues. They denied my surgery AFTER I had it and they agreed it was medically necessary to the some of $26k. Now the capper is that I've just been diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes and I have insulin resistant PCOS. They denied all the meds and all the appeals. So now I get to actually get sick instead of getting the meds to head all this off at the pass. The last 6 months have been overwhelming and mentally draining. This is good and truly my last year with them. I honestly think they have a life insurance policy out on me at this point.

Pro: Specialist copay is reasonable and (so far) my specialist is in network. Con: Prescriptions not covered unless I either a) get them prescribed from an Oscar virtual dr visit, or b) have my specialist doctor (cardiologist) upload all my records and get approval for the drug. It appears Oscar does not like to cover routine meds like high blood pressure meds and anticoagulants despite me having valid prescriptions. So I will continue to pay out of pocket until later this year when I'm eligible for Medicare. And NO, Oscar, I will NOT be selecting one of your Medicare plans.

Before I signed up for Oscar I asked Oscar if my doctor was part of their network and was told he was. My doctor thought he was. I went to my PCP and then got an EOB with a denial of coverage saying he was out of network...WHAT!! I call and ask WTF they told me he is out of network at that location. UMMMM thats his only location so again WTF. Doctors office was saying the same thing WTF apparently they did this to everyone in his office with Oscar. Now I need an MRI to see if a breast implant I got 13 years ago after a mastectomy is leaking and causeing my recent pain. Today I got a letter saying they need more info like last mammogram and ultra sound. I had a bilateral mastectomy 13 years ago there is no mammogram. So now I have to wait up to 2 weeks for their doctor to decide if an MRI is necessary. How is their doctor who did not see me suppose to figure out what my doctor that did see me is correct in ordering an MRI. In the meantime I can sit and wait...cuz they sure as hell don't care about me. I can't wait until December when I can get rid of this crappy insurance company.

The app is convenient, the concierge team is very polite and helpful (even though it can take days to receive a reply to a query posted on the weekend), and the co-pays and monthly premiums are competitively priced. The in-network Dr.s are often far away and a relatively small number of drugs are Tier 1a.

I have been a customer since 2013 when the exchange opened. I used to be a big fan of Oscar, going so far as getting friends to sign up because of the great service and benefits. It has been an increasingly disappointing experience that has significantly worsened in 2021. The customer service has been terrible, the policies opaque, and I am still considering whether to contact the Department of Consumer Affairs over my experience with Oscar when I had to deal with a Durable Medical Equipment claim this Spring. I have gotten factually incorrect information, I have waited for a call from customer service for days only to get a call (with no voicemail left) at 6pm on a Saturday and no way to follow up on the call I was desperately waiting for. I was told a person I had never been contacted by (and who never seemed to be in the office) was handling my case. I finally spoke to a manager who actually followed up with me, only to have her tell me she couldn't help me and that my problem was a known issue the company had no interest in solving. Her resolution was to tell me I should file a grievance. A nightmare for someone with a chronic illness like me who is simply trying to get my prescriptions filled. They also suspended my account immediately when I was a day late to pay premium (I paid it on the first of the month and the account was put into a grace period at midnight the night before), which caused a prescription to be rejected - again, not great when you have a chronic illness. Update 1 - Oscar did DM me (early Sept), and I responded with more details on my grievances, and have not yet received any acknowledgement of that message or a response nearly two months later. Update 2- Oscar responded to this update (late Oct) saying that the matter was escalated internally and someone will contact me. I will be waiting to see if that happens.
