The Good

  • Multiple communication options
  • Built-in survey tool
  • Marketing automation features
Silverpop allows companies to connect with their subscribers in several different ways-email, SMS, social media, RSS, landing pages and more. The "Share-to-Social" feature capitalizes on social networks like Facebook, MySpace, LinkedIn, and Twitter. Silver pop's analytic tools also track how successful your social media campaigns are, just like they do for your email campaigns. Many competitors require you to use third-party hosts for things like surveys, but Silverpop has a survey tool built into their interface. Some of the other advanced features include:
  • Landing pages
  • Drag and drop web form builder
  • Snooze option for subscribers to reduce opt out rates
  • Personalized URLs
  • Forward-to-a-friend web pages
  • Automated A/B testing
Silverpop's marketing automation features provide a lot of advanced options, as well. Scoring is a unique feature that Silverpop offers. It allows customers to be ranked based on buying criteria, demographics, and behaviors like website visits, form submissions, and message interactions. Subscribers can be grouped based on scores for the categories you set. Web tracking also lets you learn about your customers and prospects based on what they do on your website. These features, as well as others, allow you to send marketing campaigns that are more tailored to your subscribers' needs and personality.

The Bad

  • No free trial
  • Bugs
  • Better suited for large companies
Unlike almost all of its competitors, Silverpop doesn't offer a free trial. Likewise, many of the details about specific features and pricing is unavailable without contacting Silverpop for a consultation. This may discourage potential users, especially those with smaller companies who are looking to capitalize on free plans or inexpensive basic monthly plans. While the platform is generally regarded is powerful and sophisticated, several users have found it buggy and difficult to use at times. Other reviewers encountered the website being down at times making it impossible to use the service. Many of the advanced features may be seen as a positive, but for smaller companies, these things are likely not necessary making this service better suited for bigger companies.

The Bottom Line

Silverpop is regarded as one of the higher end, more advanced email marketing platforms out there. Their robust list of features cover every aspect of email marketing from the design down to the automation and data analysis. Silverpop's goal is to take guesswork out of the equation for their clients and allow them to better reach their customers in a more personalized way. There are mixed reviews when it comes to the reliability of the platform, however, as some have found it easy and reliable while others complain that it is buggy and has a learning curve. To sign up, Silverpop requires a personalized plan that likely offers more features than necessary for smaller companies, which may discourage a lot of potential customers.

A very dissapointed customer Kalispell, MT

Not a bad product, though horribly overpriced for what you get. The real problem is the staff; they have tremendous turnover, are not in the least bit helpful, and the project managing team in Colorado is just downright rude. We are leaving and will never recommend this company to anyone, ever.
